I was thinking of rendering "あなたにどんな思惑があるのかは知らないけれど" as "I don't know what you were expecting and I don't care. But..."
Is this okay?

The "I don't care" part is weird, and it's kinda like "adding" stuff into the sentence that wasn't there in the original Other than that the first part is fine

I was thinking of translating these two lines as:

Karian: You've finally come to your senses?
Layfon: I found a reason to fight.

The thing is, these lines reference a scene in the previous chapter here. I was wondering if rendering it this way to convey this message makes more sense than a literal translation in this case, because it doesn't make sense in the context of the chapter on its own.

I just realized. It wasn't Layfon saying "私は信じていたよ," it was Karian. That makes this so much clearer.

So I think it should be "You've finally come to your senses? I'm putting my faith in you." Or something to that effect. If this is how it is, I'll work at it some more to make it flow better and read better.

Remember that "shinjiteita" is past tense and not present or future tense... So "I'm putting my faith in you" is also not quite right

Since you're not going with a literal translation, I think those 2 are fine As long as you convey the idea of the speaker having believed in the other person, and it fits context I think it's okay. I like the second better, but you need to decide which sounds more like the speaker and fits the context better

Just for the discussion sake ....since it's been a while ....:

Imo, the verb 'expect' is a bit too passive or neutral for "思惑." It would be perfect if the original line was　were 「僕に何を期待しているのか知らないけど」. The original is actually closer to "I don't know your motives but..." or "I don't know what you are plotting but ...."

You can translate "知らない" as "I don't know", or "I don't care," so your translation is basically redundant. In this case and in most cases, the first one fits better. <I know that you have already corrected this.>

Hi everyone! Ghost Stars (귀신별곡) is my first translation I'm contributing to MH. I would love feedback on the translation - particularly some critique on formatting. I also have a translation question for one of the sentences I didn't quite understand.

My Questions:

- The manhwa lists the Table of Contents at the beginning of the volume; however, it only indicates where chapter 1 begins and not the rest. I can guess where the rest fit into the story, but to avoid misrepresentation, I just listed the contents and left them out in the actual translation. Is that okay? What would you recommend?
- Should manhwa direction be noted?
- For dialogue, should I write who says what? How would panels work or bubbles in the same box? And of side notes (most of which, are thoughts noteworthy of being translated? Sound effects?
- I've put in + color the translation I needed help with. As well as one that's kind of a spoken figurative sentence so I wasn't sure how it would translate.

Maybe I need to add the actual korean text for ease-of-access ;_; I'm sorry!
