Schabrak, thanks for being able to see the reason for my arguments. I'm glad there's at least a person with opposing views yet be relaxed about accepting others' argument aspects.
BlackHair, i had repeat myself several times about this post.
Whitebeard was a quakeman. Why was Whitebeard not CALLED a bisento man? Because he's able to use bisento techniques, but his MAIN SKILL is QUAKE. He can transfer his quake unto his bisento. It is NOT bisento techniques. One's title / main skill is gained from one's strongest skill. Shanks used a sword. Did anyone ever said in the manga, was it ever stated in the manga, that he was a swordsman? No. "Shanks the Red-Hair", "Shanks the Yonkou". Jozu and Whitebeard didn't even mention his sword or his sword abilities, yet they respected his Haki. So, if you're commited THEN you're a swordsman? How do you know he's committed? Just because he hadn't revealed any other skills yet? He used his sword for a simple slash at Whitebeard and a simple block at Akainu. How do you know that sword technique is his main skill? Before it was revealed that Whitebeard's power is quake, the only thing he showed us was that he attacked Shanks with his Bisento. Did you really believe, back then, that bisento skill was his main skill? How can he be called "The World's Strongest" and not "The World's no.1 Bisento Fighter", then? How do you know Brook is commited to swordsman more than his music? So what if Whitebeard's best skill with weapons was with Bisento, if he can destroy islands with his strongest skill which is the quake, which by the way can be imbued unto his Bisento just like Haki can be imbued to a sword? So what if you are a swordsman if you can use your Haki to cut the skies and damage Moby Dick? It's a completely different skill, like how one can have lightning attacks and have mantra AND wield a STAFF at the same time. So what now, Eneru/Enel is a staffsman even though his main skill is his lightning? Just who is failed to be objective here?
if your opinion, BlackHair, is
No. You might have some skills in swordsmanship, but you not committed to that. So that's why I wouldn't call you a swordsman.
that is fine. But people, including Oda, have their own choice at which they base their own opinions to call someone as a swordsman or not. Your opinion is, someone must commit completely at swordsmanship, and nothing else, to be called a swordsman. If so, then by
your definition of swordsman, i state that Shanks is NOT a swordsman. But by
my definition of swordsman, i state that Shanks is a swordsman, yet his main skill is not swordsmanship. Why? Because through that arc it was showed that Shanks and his crew could make all sides back off. Which meant that if the crew was removed from the equation (both Red-Hair's and Marines' and Shichibukai crews, if there were any), the removal would be much much more in Marines and Shichi's side. More removal meant the Marine + Shichi + Pacifistas + BB's crew were much more numerous and stronger than Shanks' crew. You said "fair 1vs1 fight"??? You said "don't you see his (Shanks') freaking crew behind his back"??? Don't
you, BlackHair, see Admirals, Shichibukais, fresh 20 Pacifistas, BB's crew??? Those powers were more than enough, if not overwhelming, to beat Red-Hair's crew. Fair fight, you say? don't you see how much Red-Haired crew alone was at disadvantage, let alone Shanks himself? Get it in your brain.
Let's start removing until only the strongest from each sides are left, to establish fair fight like you said. Removal in the marines and BB crew would leave Sengoku, Garp as the strongest in the Marines' side, and Super BB as the strongest in BB's side. The removal would leave one Shanks as the strongest in the Red-Hairs' side. But still all sides in the war back off. Which means Shanks is Sengoku's and Garp's and Super BB's equal. Simple.
So, why did i state that Shanks' main skill is not swordsmanship? Because Shanks is stronger than Mihawk. Why is Shanks stronger than Mihawk? Because Marines including 3 admirals and 10 vice admirals (aside from Sengoku and Garp) + 20++ Pacifistas + all Shichibukais + Blackbeard's crew is stronger, much stronger, >>>, than Shanks'
crew. But still all sides in the war back off. Which means Shanks is Sengoku's and Garp's and Super BB's equal. Simple.
Your logic fails hard, and you failed to see my logic, because you refuse to accept that Marine + WB crew + BB crew, despite their wounds, still formed a strength much greater than a Yonkou plus his/her crew. The only reason they would back off either with diplomacy or threat, is that Shanks is WB / Sengoku / Garp / Super BB level. There were more than ten men in Marine + WB crew + BB crew, even approaching twenty, who each could match a Shichibukai and still fresh and ready at Shanks and crews' arrival. If only you consider that for a moment, you will see how one more Marco-level person wouldn't matter at all, and only a last-tier character equal to Sengoku / Garp / Super BB would make this kind of result instead of more war. I don't deny his crews' presence, no, it is
you who deny Sengoku's or Garp's still primed condition, and more than 20 fresh Pacifistas, and Super BB and his crew who were still felt that they could challenge and beat all. You denied them all. Why would any of them listen to a crew that consisted only of for example four to five Shichibukai-level? And don't say Shichibukai = fame because Shanks and Dragon and Whitebeard were not Shichibukai, their fame surpassed Shichibukai and why is that? Because each of them is stronger than a Shichibukai, thus they can't be controlled by Marine. The math of this war's result is this simple yet if you still completely overlook it by your own choice, suit yourself.
