i want God Serena spin-off series.. there needs to be some explanations(lacrimas is rare items??? ) when God Serena obtained his strongest saint title... and why he betrayed ishgar..
That would be amazing. I'd dang sure read it!

Kind of like Kishimoto did with Naruto Gaiden. 10 Chapters, if nothing but to talk about his past a little and show more of his DS Magic's.

God Serena v.s. Draculos Hyberion, Wolfheim, Warrod Sequen & Jura Neekis.

With God Serena being my favorite character in Fairy Tail, despite his being hyped up then killed in ONE HIT by the Hitler of the series.....Ancologia, I found this ENTIRE battle to be my favorite and my Best Panel in the manga so far.

He completely destroyed them. I don't know what else you could call it, But the look on Jura's face says it all.

After I saw this panel.........my facial expression..........

HAHAHAHA!

God Serena is the most wasted character in this arc, and maybe even the series.

He is the strongest in Isghal (pre-skip), and he defected... those factors could have added 'drama' to the war but it was sadly lost.

Serena also boasts the best trash talk, is pretty funny and has a wicked sense of style.

But in the end he was used to show that Acnologia was hunting dragons... instead of killing Laxus or Cobra for example.

I was thinking the same about him being used for Acno instead of one of the Dragon Slayer's we've known before.

But DAMN! Such a waste. If Hiro was going to kill him off so soon after introduction, the least he could have done was let his show off all 8 DS Magics.

THE FEELS!!!!

If I had my way, Acnologia would have just said it to himself why he was in Mount Zonia that he'd be hunting slayers... and he'd state there are 8.

And then I'd make Serena, Wall and Bloodman on the same team. And not as some Historia's, a real alive wrecking team.

It'd have been pretty good if the GOI/Jura weren't much weaker than Spriggans too, then that team could have fought TWS' in the east. After Universe 1. then alive Serena vs Gildarts :)

I was mixed on him stomping the GOI, I thought it was unbelievably badass but.... the GOI... hyped for so long... stomped?!

And then God Serena gets killed by Acno? WHY U DO THIS HIRO?

I would have felt much better about the GOI getting stomped had Acno killed Laxus or Cobra instead (I also think it would have worked better in a narrative sense given we're emotionally attached to Laxus/Cobra in comparison to Goddy).

That said, I miss Goddy loads, he was an undeniable badass and his attitude was perfect (if anyone watches TWD it's what I'd expect Negan would be like in FT).

OMG!!!!! That'd have been such a kickass idea man! Props.

I wish there'd have been a LIVE God Serena v.s. Gildarts battle. How are you gonna write Gildarts saying this........
.......and it isn't a possibility anymore? You're playing with my emotions Hiro!!!!
Whyyyyyyyy, Hiro? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?

This manga is starting to get me stressed out like The Walking Dead. It's tearing my nerves up. HAHA!

You forget to mention Goddy's fabulous hair lel kek.

I am just curious in knowing two things:-

i)What is his real name?

ii)What was his backstory?

And in which circus did he work before joining TWS :D.

At the that current moment in time, you can make an argument of God Serena being top 5 most powerful characters, I mean before Larcade and Irene were introduced. No could currently beat him. Acnologia murking him was the best and only outcome with a great revelation of finally knowing his goals of killing all the Dragon Slayers. Why I'm not really blown about his role, he still made a great impact regardless of disrespect. Great character, powers, backstory. As long as Neinhart lives he'll still be in the story as a historia,

On the teams, the north S12 still remains the best one. Can't beat Irene, Bloodman, Larcade. The fact that they differ so much from each other is the best part.

Damn, now that you guys are talking about Serena, has me thinking he looks good design wise. All I don't like is his ponytails :xp

I want to know the other 4 elements he used and what magic he used before he showed off dragon slaying magic. Also what is the thing he carried on his back? Something like boomerang maybe? Such a wasted character :(

Also I just realized that some said he could have lightning dragon slaying magic, but these pages (1) (2) show the "lightning" magic was showed prior to him amazing August that he is a dragon slayer. (has anyone ever mentioned this before?) :xp

I didn't like the ponytails at first, but I've become used to them. His character, overall, is hilarious anyway so every time I see him and his hair I'm like.....
ROFL!

Seriously though, 4 other elements (one I believe is a type of Lightning DS Magic too), that dharma wheel-like thing on his back, his backstory.....all of that is hidden right now. I don't see him coming up in the manga again. I mean, I'm not sure where he would be relevant again unless they all joined forces to fight Acnologia and Zeref has Neinhart bring him back for added damage, but I don't really see that happening. Then again, you never know. I'm honestly just as curious about the Spriggan 12's background as I am about main character backgrounds. And personally, I would have liked to see God Serena's history over Brandish's but I know hers tied into Lucy's in a way so it's "more important". Lol. But, we'll probably be left in the dark on that.

Beautifully said!!!

Idc what anyone has to say about the dude, he was a badass. Over the top.....but badass. Even Makarov admitted to him being insanely powerful despite his behavior and actions.
*P.S. Randi and Mari's FACE though! HAHA*

As far as a scapegoats in Goddy's case, Hiro doesn't want to get rid of the original 7 we've seen, for some reason. The five original kids, I can understand. Even Laxus, being who he is and who he's related to, I can understand......but Erik (Cobra) could have taken that Acno-shaped bullet instead of God Serena, in my opinion. Even now August is slapping him around, along with his other guildies, like a newborn babies butt. Since the GMG and the DSlayers fighting the dragons from 400 years ago, I don't see why it couldn't have been him. You take a mediocre character and keep him alive over one that's been hyped up for SO long (along with his previous comrades) and you kill him off. It's sad :'( But again, this is just my opinion. I respect Hiro's writing.

Its sad how Serena was abused as a hype tool for the spriggan and Acnologia. The GOI (Gods of Ishgar) were hyped up since chapter 320 and when they finally appear 100 and some chapters all 4 of them (Serena included) get fodderized in 2 chapters. All we got to see from them was 1 punch from Wolfheim, 1 invisible spell from Hyberion, 1 tree move from Warrod and only 4 out of 8 dragon Lachryma of Serena. Thats a joke.
And even after Serena's death Mashima doesnt give him a break and revives him only for him to get one shotted again, this time by Gildarts. The latters statement that it would be a hard-fought battle if Serena were to be at his full power doesnt make this any better either. That fight is a must-see tbh, 2 guys who got insta wrecked by Acnologia but are still among the strongest.
Moreover, Mashima giving him a female name like Serena makes me wonder if he ever intended for Serena to be a serious character.

Very well written, my friend.

Nothing else to really be said on my part about Goddy. You hit the nail on the head.

I also wondered why? What was the point of even bringong him back? What, to prove Gildarts is stronger than a de-powered version of Goddy (Historia)? That was nothing. In my opinion, his character was the biggest letdown in the series. He was the hype, the base at which of all of the 12 were supposed to be and proved stronger than more than half of them by beating mages stronger than characters that beat other members of the 12. It's a letdown.

They hyped us up for Poor ol' Goddy but Hiro didn't even give the names of the four other dragon slayer magic he had.
They did waste him. He could have been defeated by a guild mage, at least that actually would have been a good fight. I thought that he would go against like Gajeel or Laxus but nope God Serena was annihalated by Acnologia.

Interesting discussion... Now that you guys bring it up, I am curious as to what actually happened when Kagura got cut by Rakheid.

Based on how I interpreted, I agree with both @Brandish and @Dr. Monty.

Basically, I don't think Rakheid has the ability to reflect attacks. If he did, Hiro Mashima would have made it clearer by either having Rakheid state it himself or by showing statements from characters nearby (including Kagura).

At the same time though, I don't see Rakheid having that much physical strength either. Being able to slash at somebody with pure physical strength and cutting them is a significant feat. Not to mention, there is the distance inconsistency that was already mentioned. That's just my opinion though. It's possible.

Anyways, because what Kagura had seemed more like a cut...

I think Rakheid used his "Blades of Light". In my eyes, this is the most probable explanation as to how Kagura got hit especially since we've already seen this spell before. Also, a few pages back, Rakheid uses this attack without any magic glowing from his hands which is exactly what was shown when he "slashed" at Kagura.

Based on how blades "cut", this is how I interpreted the scene. Of course, I could be wrong. A counter to my theory is that we don't actually see the attack. But if you look at the first page I posted, you can see that the whole background is white so we really can't tell if it is behind her already. Kind of like this one.

Again, I could be totally wrong about this.
Nevermind. I take back what I said in my post above.

Based off of the recent chapter, it seems like Rakheid indeed has the ability slash at his opponents with bare hands. What he did to Sting pretty much confirms this. And to be a little honest here, I'm not particularly a fan of this especially since it doesn't make sense that his physical strength is that high unless he is on Acnologia's level. I mean to take out Sting and Kagura with pure CQC... That would place him among the top Spriggans but judging by how Sting damaged him, it doesn't seem like it at all. It is what it is though...

Which part of the chapter confirmed this for you?

If anything I felt this chapter confirms Larcade's physicals aren't extraordinary, since he took damage from Sting's not so strong attacks. Sting should be relatively weak compared to an elite Spriggan (since Rogue is basically Historia level).

Well, the way I interpreted the middle panel, it seems like Larcade is within reach of Sting. Not to mention, we see that the tail-end of the attack is perpendicular to Sting's side which means whatever attack Larcade used, it had to be going in that direction (blue line).

Since the "blades of light" would probably have cut him in two (had it been perpendicular), I'm assuming that if Larcade did use it, it would have been going towards us as the readers (red line). But that line wasn't parallel to Sting.

A counter -rgument to this is that the tail-end of the slash was just the movement of Larcade's hands but we didn't see that line when he previously used the "blades of light".

Haha, I'm not sure if I'm making much sense here so I guess I'll just wait a while longer, but for now, I'll say its a physical attack unless we get more confirmation.

I don't really see why taking damage from Sting confirms Larcade has not so great physicals, even the best of fighters can take hits when up against their complete counters, like Larcade was. In fact, Larcade's physicals are better in my eyes, he took two of Sting's best attacks (Holy Nova is a secret art IIRC) and went on to slash and impale him. On all accounts Larcade's got mad physicals, all this means is that Sting is stronger than we thought.

Also while Sting is weak in comparison to Elite Spriggans we shouldn't knock Larcade for struggling with him, the guy is a complete counter to his magic. You could argue that this wouldn't happen to August and Irene but that's because August has multiple magics and Irene's enchanting is so versatile it doesn't seem to have a counter.

In addition I don't think it's fair to use Rogue to measure Sting, they may have been equals pre-skip but a lot has changed since then, it's much fairer to judge Sting by his feats. As it stands, Sting is definitely Spriggan level in most categories, so Larcade is essentially facing a Spriggan that is his complete counter and is still looking fairly chill.

Counter argument doesn't matter here. Larcade couldn't no sell Sting's holy nova. While Sting gets credit for this feat, it proves that Larcade isn't really that invincible when it comes to physical feats.

Let me put it like this, while Sting is immune to light element attacks, it doesn't make him have attack advantage against a light element user like Larcade.
There are many mages who can use the flame element. That doesn't make them physically weaker against Natsu's flame attacks than any other spell. Larcade took damage from Sting's holy nova, him being able to use light magic had nothing to do with it.

His stunt against Kagura was just hype feat like with any other villain in FT. They show off until they get wrecked from a slightly stronger attack. I never thought it would be consistent at all.

No you're making sense. And it's probably better to wait longer, and it being physical is reasonable right now.

Well, the way I interpreted the middle panel, it seems like Larcade is within reach of Sting. Not to mention, we see that the tail-end of the attack is perpendicular to Sting's side which means whatever attack Larcade used, it had to be going in that direction (blue line).
I agree that's the direction the attack went, from right to left from our view.

The main reason it probably didn't cut Sting in half (assuming it's blades of light) is that Sting will have a level of resistance to this attack, compared to Kagura for example, since he's the White DS.

Well mainly because no-selling Kagura's slash is far more impressive than taking damage by Holy attacks. Sword slashes are generally the more potent attacks in the series. If Larcade can do that to Kagura's swords, then someone of Sting's level shouldn't do damage with the attacks he used. So it's either magic, inconsistency, or Sting >>>>> Kagura.

The only reason Sting is a chance is because of the countering, so I agree I wouldn't knock Larcade. He still handled Kagura, and caused discomfort to a whole lot of wizards with that pleasure magic. And he still beat Sting, even with resistance.

The way August handles CS, I don't think Sting would get a look. Even if all of ST were there, they'd get murked. But of course if plot demands Sting roll August, it could happen. Same goes for Irene (I have it August >= Irene > Larcade > others)

What has changed since preskip - specifically between the twin dragons? I highly doubt Sting is base Gajeel level tbh, I think he's basically the same as Rogue. As for Spriggan level Idk, it depends on who else is Spriggan level to you. If Kagura/Mira are, then I'd agree. If Erza/base Gajeel aren't, then I'd disagree. Just like Larcade shouldn't be knocked I don't think Sting should be over-estimated.
