What are you talking about? My complain is basically that cloud was flat through the whole thing. My complain is basically that in AC cloud was made a total bitch and by the end of it he ended up basically the same as he was at the end of VII. And what goals are you even talking about?

None of those guys are the issue though. What they did to cloud would have been the equivalent of making tifa into an emo who cuts herself over cloud not calling her, making vincent into twilight style vampire, barret even wackier terrorist with a bigger fro who realizes an 8 year old shouldn't be running a bar, yuffie into shinra's CEO and cid into a guy who just brings everyone down. Only for tifa to then decide she kicks too much ass to cut herself, vincent decides being shiny sucks, barret realizes fros are stupid and an 8 year old is more than qualified to run a bar along with terrorism being wrong, yuffie figures stealing materia is more fun than being able to pay for it and cid decides not giving a fuck is easier. Basically everyone returns to being what they were at the end of VII. What they did to cloud is not character development, it's merely going in circles. In AC cloud didn't grow at all. He just whined the whole movie then once again recovered himself and made himself into what he was at the end of VII. AC didn't have any character development, it just 180 twice (one to make cloud whine through the whole thing and another to make him as he was at the end of VII) without any real payout....

Kinda pointless to reply to this after so long, but I'll give it a shot. What are you talking about? Cloud is FAR from flat in AC. And what is with this bitch this, bitch that? Am I on 4chan? Ending up the same means what? The goals were different, because the premise was different. A plot is built around goals.

And yet, they are fucking terrible in regards to writing merits. Shocker, I know! I am shocked, utterly shocked that people like them and call them well written. Former? Subjective. Latter? Fucking objectively a pile of prolapsed sphincters, the lot of them. If that is character development to you, then no wonder we can trash in FF with every outing. No wonder. To you , apparently, anyone who shows depression are "bitches, emos who cut themselves" ... so open-minded, your views on human psyche, and very nice pointers for discussion, might I add.

Your entire notion of character development is made up and objectively wrong. What you think character development is, isn't character development, it's cherry picking and self-created perspective. Even if Cloud went around in a circle, he still came to a different conclusion as he overcame different hurdles and grew up in a different manner. If you can't see it, then no one can help you here.

Cloud was completely flat in AC.... The guy spent the movie whining and overall being a joyless drag and at the conclusion of the movie he simply got over it and ended up being quite literally the same as he was at the end of FFVII. And I mean every word of that. By the end of AC cloud wasn't better off than in FFVII. He wasn't worse off than in FFVII. He didn't have any new or otherwise different perspectives than he had in FVII. He didn't get any epiphanies or newfound purpose in life. The movie culminated with cloud being literally and in every form exactly the same as he was towards the end of VII. That is the opposite of character development.

What are you even talking about? I have barely mentioned the other characters to begin with.... And yes, my issue here is specifically with cloud. The others barely appeared in AC anyways, there is hardly any reason to bring them up. Me not mentioning them or otherwise making this about cloud does not mean I think the movie treated them perfectly. Jeesh.

As for this being opinions and subjective... Of course it is. what else is there? But I do think it is simply factually incorrect that cloud underwent any real development through AC. Otherwise the conclusion of the film wouldn't have left him in the exact same position he was in towards the end of FFVII. I mean, did cloud loose or won anything through the film? Not really. Did he make new friends? There is that denzel guy but that happened before the film.. Did he get some new perspectives? Not really.. And to add to that, I am hardly the only person who thinks AC wasn't all that good and that cloud was a bitch through the whole thing.

Quite the media blitz Square has given 15 recently. Which I think is pretty smart on thier part they are really doing everything they can to sell this game.

I got to thinking the other day it might be fun to guess how much XV would sell in the first year. Here's the things I'm basing my guess on.

#1 Final Fantasy Type-0 sales figures. (1.2 Million copies across all platforms)

I looked at these because it came with the Duscue demo. And I don't think it's outlandish to think that most of the people who where hyped enough to buy this are going to buy Final Fantasy XV day 1 right? Take into account the groups for friends who may have just had one of them buying a copy and passing it around and I'm going to throw a generous guess the hardcore fanbase is about double those were interested or willing to buy Type-0 for the Duscae demo. So I'm putting my guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 2.4 million.

Also worth mentioning that Type-0 HD sold dreadfully in Japan for some reason (0.15 Million copies.) Not sure why that is. Maybe because Type-0 was already released there on PSP but if it shipped with the demo I'd have thought the sales would have been higher than 15% of the global total. But since I don't understand it I'm basically ignoring it.

#2 Official Final Fantasy XV Youtube view numbers for the Brotherhood anime.

Now not every one of these is going to represent a sold game obviously, as not everybody who views it is watching it. And not everybody who plans to buy the game is going to be interested in watching an anime. It's also split across various viewing platforms. So not everyone who is watching it is going to do so on Youtube. The view numbers for the first Episode(~ 2 Million views) are about in line with my guess at the size of the hardcore fanbase. Sure some were probably hate-watching it but take into account those watching in other places at it probably evens out.

Then we get to Brotherhood Ep 2 which lost about 75% of it's audience (~ 471K views). Some of that is probably people who are just holding off to watch it all at once. Some of that is probably those who just aren't into anime and only watched episode 1 as a novelty. Maybe some hate-watchers not showing up to see just how much Noctis really does look like like Sasuke's twin. Either way I'm hanging on episode 1 for my guess.

Considering this I'm going to ballpark that there are about 2-3 million hardcore FFXV fans out there. Those are the definite purchases no matter what reviews say. Then as long as word of mouth isn't terrible it will probably pick up some more casual customers I'm going to guess ~2 million.

So my guess is a total sales of around 4-5 million in the first year.

Which is respectable. Those are Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain numbers. Probably not enough for Square Enix to turn a profit on XV but it was probably never going to considering the development time and the promotional costs.

Love Ravus' in-game design. Really disliked his Kingsglaive one. Iris looks like a cartoon. Terrible design by contrast. She is a complete joke from every angle. Even that episode was terrible. I hope she doesn't stay in the party for long. Sheesh ...

I am going to keep this short, as this is going nowhere. Define flat. Your understanding of it is as faulty as the premise of your replies. Again with the whining comment. What does that mean anyway? Joyless drag? So, you found him one? How does that factor in with your comment on him being flat? What should he be better off? Care to explain your points? Anyone of them ... any time now?

Which is precisely my point. You have issues with Cloud only, when the rest of them are worthless on every front. Especially Tifa, who appears a lot, if compared to other characters in the movie.

And yet, you haven't even begun to delineate how it is factually incorrect. If you had, we wouldn't even be having this back and forth. Does he have to win and lose? Why does he have to make friends? I gotta say, your concept of character development is something else.

I believe most of this was what I predicted. Still watching the movie, though. Thank you for posting this. I might post the tech news related to FF in the evening. They revealed a lot of stuff for that one.

A rumor is going around that Final Fantasy XV is going to be delayed to November 29th. And Gematsu is now saying that one of their inside sources indicated that the rumor is true.

I kind of have a hard time believing this would be the case. A delay isn't the end of the world but with all the marketing they've done it's hard to believe they would have done any of that if their was even the slightest doubt about the release date. Not to mention it would take the game out of the barren late summer release window and drop it right into the crammed holiday window.

So I guess I don't believe it yet but the reports are out there. And if they're true....hooboy.

And Gamenesia updated their story with a picture of the instructions which indicate the delay which is supposed to go up in gamestops Sunday or Monday.

I wonder why this happened? I doubt this was to duck Persona 5 in Japan since this move is going to put it right up against Pokemon Sun & Moon and in the same month as Call of Duty, Dishonored 2, and Watch Dogs 2. They must have found something they REALLY needed to fix.

- FFXV went gold the other day, and that was planned to be the version they ship on Sept 30.
- That version of the game will be playable at Gamescom, and they are cutting a 30 minute gameplay video to be released on Aug 16 showcasing the performance of that version.
- They planned a massive Day One Patch for the game which would further polish the game and fix lingering issues.
- But they have decided that instead of pressing the current gold master and delivering a day one patch, they will instead wait and use that completed version as the final gold master.
- Hence the game will be delayed to Nov 29, but they will be adding even more stuff on top of the planned fixes of the day one patch.

tl;dr - The game is delayed because they believe not everyone has internet connectivity and they don't want them to be left out of the perfect FFXV experience when the game ships to stores.

Although, to be honest, I don't 100% believe him. After all if it's in a state where it needs a huge day one patch to work properly then it was never really "Gold" to begin with. And if the work they needed to do on it would be done by day one they wouldn't need a 2 month delay. More like 2-3 weeks.

Also I'd bet a little over 3 months from now when the game comes out it still launches with a day one patch.

Yeah, but printing on the disc means nothing more needs to be added. In other words Complete+Thoroughly Bug Tested at least that's what it's supposed to mean. A lot of times what is companies call Gold is really more of an final build with minimal bug testing. Like I love Bethesda's Fallout and Skyrim but both of those are guilty as sin in that regard.

Since the game apparently needed more work it's definitely a good thing that Square pushed it back.

What I don't 100% believe is that they are doing it for the sake of avoiding a day one patch. I don't think they make this move unless something is in serious need of fixing.
