• You can pick openings & endings of any anime that you like (series or movie, or Ova) but western animation are not allowed. However tracks in other languages are allowed.
• You can choose any anime opening or ending that was released after January 2020 up to the current season (Spring 2024)
• It is up to you how you define what is a best intro/outro to you. Choose your top 10 anime openings/endings based on your personal criteria — whether it's creativity, visuals, music, or a mix of everything. Your submission can even include tracks from an anime that you've never watched. And whether you like, love or hate the anime or not is irrelevant for your list.
• Honorable mentions are allowed.
• As long as deadline is not reached, you can change your list as much as you want.
• Please, rank your top following the usual format :

@Nii king bradley he was on my list too but ended up choosing jiraya over him also chose another certain char over greed/lin, i had to narrow a lot of interesting chars.

well Jiraya is also a good choice though surprised I'm actually the only one who nominated Bradley. Guess FMA is just too old at this point...

Askeladd is a good choice, sort of regret not putting him on the list =/ Think I simply considered other characters more "hyped" by their respective manga.

Hisoka is another of many good choices from Hunter x Hunter you can make, I think that's the problem Too many characters to choose from, but he's easily the best main villain in my eyes (nothing against Chrollo, but still).

Oh i did send my list and one of my picks is an Ova, hopefully it works. i wanted to pick movies too but not sure it works, hope it does.

Did have hard times narrowing down, long running animes have a lot of sad moments typically like Naruto, one piece and such... and i decided to choose only one of each.

Same. I kinda replaced a moment in my list for another one in the same movie cause the one I had first was super touching but not necessarily sad. It would be my pick over the other one I added tho, cause damn feels were spot on there D: more than in the one I listed.

Actually I agree. I've come up with a lot of really emotional moments so far which aren't really "sad" when you consider the end result.. though if we switched to emotional moments, that makes it even tougher. Trying to think of truly sad moments at least narrows it down a bit.

Gamaran was a really lackluster series. Average as average can get or even below that, dunno. In any case, Iori was incredible.

Uhm no. I am dead serious with Shanks at the top and don't even know why anyone would think he deserves not a spot here. But taking this part of your post into account

I see where you are coming from, even though I am aware of the fact that you were joking for the most part. You are referring to combat feats which Shanks admittedly still lacks. So far, his battle prowess has only been hinted or implied. But I think we clarified before that hype can be proven in other ways as well. Combat feats are one option, but they are surely not the only one. Granted, this might be unusual in the case of Shanks since we are talking about a supposedly top tier combatant in a battle manga. However, I can still bring up a couple of points why Shanks deserves this spot in my ranking. There are not many, but those available are worth a lot.

First off, there is literally no character who didn't get a few scratches on her/his hype. That includes my whole ranking with the likes of Itachi, Escanor, Levi and god knows who else. They all have their lows either from character, combat or story point of view. For Shanks, it is without any doubt the encounter with that irrelevant sea monster. I even deny to call that thing a monster if we take into account what creatures roam around the OP-world. Other than that, I don't see much you could hold against his hype. Compared to many other characters, Shanks can feel himself very lucky since he isn't a character Oda let us follow. Which means, Oda didn't have many chances to - exaggeratedly speaking - shit on his character like in the case of other characters (speaking generally, not directed at Oda/OP).

Shanks continuously proved that his hype is legit. It starts with Joozu - one of WB's strongest crew members - stating that you can't hold your consciousness if you are not prepared for him. Then there is the one-hit clash with Whitebeard itself, who is one of the strongest characters in the history of this series. And Shanks only used one arm while Whitebeard used both as far as I remember. I think I don't have to mention that we all know that they both didn't go all out there. Still, it speaks a lot for someone like Shanks.

He had the balls to stand before Kaido who wanted to face Whitebeard before Ace's execution. That Kaido who is known as the strongest creature in the world. Yes, we don't know what happened between Shanks and Kaido. Maybe they just talked, maybe they exchanged some blows, maybe they arm wrestled, maybe they watched some ******. It's all a maybe. But what we definitely do know is:

• that Kaido wanted to attack Whitebeard and didn't accomplish it
• Shanks wanted to keep Kaido away from Whitebeard and he accomplished it
• that Kaido doesn't appear as someone who would back down no matter who is in front of him -> hell, he wanted to attack Whitebeard in the first place ffs.

It doesn't matter what happened there. All what matters is the outcome. Kaido failed, Shanks didn't. And with this, I don't want to say Shanks is stronger or anything like that. We are talking about characters who lived up to their hype and Shanks did in this case.

Then there is the whole Marineford deal:

• Sakazuki - probably the most aggressive and strongest Admiral - didn't do shit against Shanks.
• Mihawk - the world's strongest Swordsman - ran away like a bitch with a poor excuse.
• Blackbeard Pirates - who were so eager to wreak havoc at Marineford - ran away like bitches.
• Sengoku - Fleet Admiral - complied to every single demand of Shanks. He ended the war and gave up on the bodies of Whitebeard and Ace.

I agree, there are a lot of legit reasons why the mentioned people did these stuff, but they wouldn't have done it if Shanks wasn't the person he is.

Yes, Sakazuki was severely injured at this pont. Didn't hold him back to fight all of his enemies nonetheless. Heck, he even went for the Blackbeard Pirates shortly after the war... alone.

Yes, Blackbeard succeeded in his goal and had no reason to be at Marineford any longer. That didn't hold him back to face Sengoku though, the Fleet Admiral.

Yes, Sengoku won this war and there was no point in starting another one with the Red Hair Pirates. However, it should be noted that Kuzan, Borsalino, Doflamingo, (Garp), (Kuma?), and Sengoku himself were still rather "fresh" at this point. I would also argue that Sakazuki could still hold his ground there (he fought against Kuzan for 10 days ffs).

Last but not least, I would like to mention the meeting with the Gorosei. Five beings who are almost at the very top of the World Government. Five beings who have incredibly political power and influence. Five beings who appear to be (very powerful) fighters as well. These people brushed-off someone like Sakazuki as if he was a little chump. Sakazuki, who is actually working for them, the Fleet Admiral. But when Shanks knocks on the door, they hear him out. Shanks, who is actually their enemy. A Yonko they would like to see dead as soon as possible.

Shanks doesn't live up to his hype because of feats in battle. He lives up to his hype by his sheer presence and the actions, non-actions, behaviour and decisions of the people he faces. 99,99% of the time, always against the top dogs of the One Piece world, mind you.

Additional notes:

• Shanks stands there where he stands without possessing any devil fruit powers.
• Shanks is heavily implied to have the highest bounty out of the current Yonkos.

Maybe all of this might be not enough for anyone to even consider Shanks in their rankings. But they are for me, much more than anything flashy what Madara showed, whose main accomplishments - if you even can call it accomplishments that is - are deeply connected to relying/stealing the powers of others. Or the sad truth that despite all those awesome moments Whitebeard had, he still left the stage without any notable kill at Marineford. Or Escanor whose uniqueness took a toll after the revelations about his powers.

I hope this makes it a little bit clearer why I ranked Shanks first. It was difficult to rank all these great characters anyway. Figuratively speaking, it was often just millimeters which separated them. While other characters in my list may have delivered much more than Shanks did to live up to their hype, they also have more things which speak against them. So, no, I wasn't joking with Shanks.


By the way, it's funny that you bring up the encounter with the sea monster, but at the same time hand out 10 freaking points to Nagato and ignore the fact that he got talk-no-jutsued and defeated by a book and submitted himself to a boy who admitted to have no answer to his questions shortly after an all-out war against that said boy...

See... no character is safe from bad decisions of their authors. : )

Thanks a lot @FaustXIII. There were a lot of characters I also considered like Guy, Akashi, Jiraiya-sama, Hashirama, Wakatoshi (Hinata: "JAPAN!" ), Pitou, Meruem, Kira or Chrollo. Well, in the end bias played a role stoo.
