• You can pick openings & endings of any anime that you like (series or movie, or Ova) but western animation are not allowed. However tracks in other languages are allowed.
• You can choose any anime opening or ending that was released after January 2020 up to the current season (Spring 2024)
• It is up to you how you define what is a best intro/outro to you. Choose your top 10 anime openings/endings based on your personal criteria — whether it's creativity, visuals, music, or a mix of everything. Your submission can even include tracks from an anime that you've never watched. And whether you like, love or hate the anime or not is irrelevant for your list.
• Honorable mentions are allowed.
• As long as deadline is not reached, you can change your list as much as you want.

Surprised. I thought Yoruichi would be first.

Man, I take issue with this Yoruichi ranking. I knew it was coming but Yoruichi is not more badass than Unohana. I like Yoruichi. I think she's a very cool character. But she's not even as badass as Nel was. I feel like she's one of everybody's favorite characters, mine included. And maybe people dropped Bleach before Unohana's real self showed up but...

She's a cat. That's her theme. She's sort of whimsical. She's a tough lady. I'll grant that. But badass? I don't see that. At all.

I know the argument that can be made against Unohana is that she doesn't do enough. Since she's largely used to grow a character who is arguably less badass than she was, who is the most badass male character in Bleach in his own right. And though she shines very brightly it's admittedly not for very long. But Yoruichi doesn't even do that much. She never broke out the bankai. She never even reached that "serious" moment. Her most memorable moment is probably when she fights Soifon. Soifon!! The least memorable captain.

Her not fighting with a zanpakuto was due to her being part of the stealth forces so hand to hand combat was more fit than a flashy sword. Doesn't mean she was less strong, just a different style of fighting. And she fought against Askin Le Vaar and put a feared captain Byakuya shunpo to shame. But the reason I gave her poins is cause I find her hand to hand combat style pretty badass. That and her personality.

Also Unohana for me was a major disappointment "here, have a super op captain and make her only relevant fight to be just to enhance Zaraki".

I swear Kubo was high on that last arc..

It's not just not using a zanpakuto

Like being the best waifu =/= being the most badass, being the strongest =/= being the most badass

Not that Yoruichi isn't powerful. She easily speedblitzed 2 of the fastest characters (Soi Fon and Byakuya), saving people that were likely to get killed/injured in the process
She fought a released Schutzstaffel, holding her own for a long time - sure, this was without her zanpakuto, but I don't think we know if this is a disadvantage or not tbh
She took both Shunko and Shunpo to another level
She is capable of fighting, as a Shinigami, without a Zanpakuto...


Yoruichi is a badass for so many reasons

1 - She rebelled against the system she was born into
Yoruichi was brought up to be a 'princess'. She was meant to act and think in a certain way that she found tedious and restrictive - this was seen during Soi Fon's flashbacks (Yoruichi carried by a palanquin, looking like some ornament, rather than a person)
As soon as she is head of the family, what does she do? Whatever the fuck she wants. She lazes around, makes jokes, plays with her friends, etc. This change was enough to totally throw off Soi Fon at the beginning, going against everything she (someone who was born into a family that was meant to serve the Shihouin line) was brought up to believe


2 - Yoruichi would go out of her way to 'save'/'change' people
I don't mean 'physically/from danger' (though she did do that to Kisuke, Tessai and the Visards), but emotionally also...

She helped Soi Fon feel loved and gave her a place to feel free and unrestricted from the duties imposed upon her from birth
She also helped to try (albeit, with limited success) and change Byakuya - she saw he was in a similar position to her (forced to act in the way expected by his position [imposed upon him from birth]) and tried to help him break out/have fun. This was seen by her constant teasing and trying to play with him


3 - Yoruichi did go out of her way to physically save people
This time I do mean Kisuke, Tessai and the Visards

Yoruichi was willing to make the whole of Soul Society her enemy, to save her friends and those she thought were going to be unjustly punished
When asked by Kisuke if she wanted him to help hide her in the real world, she told him she didn't need his help. She knew she could easily avoid being found/detected/punished - all this without a ludicrously hax power like Aizen had

She also did this on numerous other occasions with people like Ichigo (including saving from a captain), Ganju (from a captain), Kiyone and Sentaro (from a captain)...


4 - Other captains and powerful characters respected and trusted her power
This was shown by her interactions with people like Ukitake, Kyouraku and Yamamoto (amongst others)


There are plenty of other reasons, outside of powerlevel, that she is a badass
but as a quick summary:
Yoruichi is a powerhouse, but she is also well respected, honourable, dependable, cunning and willing to help change people for [what she believes to be, at least] the better

She will fight injustice wherever she sees it, even if on her own side, and is not afraid to break the rules if she thinks they are shit
She is willing to do her own thing and damn anyone who tells her to be, or act, differently


Unohana, however, well... she's [supposedly (yes, I'm sure she is, but what's not shown is not shown)] good at fighting and at kidou
but she does what she is told, even if this requires pointlessly throwing away her life

Now, sure, there was a tiny bit said about her background (nothing shown), where she was a 'true villain' and was a bloodthirsty swordsfighter, but not once did I ever see evidence of her doing what she wanted, system be damned

Bloodthirsty villain also =/= badass
Yamamoto wasn't an utter badass due to his stated history, but what he was demonstrated to do in the manga

Firstly, huge thanks to everyone who joined! It’s always a pleasure to read your lists and to exchange and interact with you. It was another fantastic experience for me and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Again, many thanks to all of you!

Format :

Because I’m lacking creativity, or when I think of something different, It is unrealizable; I have changed nothing I do usually. I picked one picture from art that I resized/cropped, and I added various effects and a frame and, a gif effect. Except, I tend to tone down colors. This time, I wanted it to fit the topic, so I tried to make them brighter/bolder. I used a couple of the original arts I used in the previous rounds when I couldn’t find a satisfactory picture, but I edited them differently.​

Ranking :

Males' ranking was more easily predictable. From the start, it was easy to see who would make it into the top 10. It surprised me to see some characters like Luffy who have not made it. Ladies’ rank was more unpredictable, results were constantly changing. It’s interesting to note, that many of us have ranked characters ranked in the top 10 classy characters. That shows how vast and complex, the notion of badassery can be. And for many of us, the idea of allure and classiness is encompassed in the notion of badassery. I don’t consider that badassery has necessarily to do with strength or amount of hemoglobin that some characters can make flow. I picked characters like Shirase because for me she has guts that stronger characters don’t always have. And I was pleased to see such a variety of kinds of badass characters nominated.​

I’m still impressed by the number of characters or manga/anime I have never heard of. ​

Though I do not agree with it, I enjoy the impassioned defense.

My counter is this. "Badass", as I define it, is very much a stylistic descriptor. Someone who is tough, uncompromising, and intimidating. Whatever else they've got they need to have those 3 traits. Which is why Yoruichi is "cool" not "badass". She is a free spirit. She's doesn't intimidate people. That's just not something she ever did. I point to the Bankai moment never happening because that's the standard moment in Bleach where characters do that intimidating part. And she's like one of the only characters that never happens for. She's a great character her traits just don't match up, IMO.

Contrast that against a character like Olivier Mira Armstrong. Who embodies those three things.

Meh, the fact she was so powerful without ever having to rely on her bankai (as poor ol' Byakuya/Hitsugaya ended up) speaks more to her 'toughness'

Also, I'm not sure she was ever shown as compromising her morals/beliefs - as I said, she will turn against all powers that she feels are in the wrong (even SS, which are painted as the 'good guys')

She might not intimidate, but no one intimidates her either

She even was willing to joke around in fights against the big bad OP guys - like her asking a Hyougoku-empowered Aizen if he was complimenting her legs, when he commented about how strong Urahara's armaments were

Splash panels of OP techniques and abilities are a cheap way to instill badassery in a character (not that she didn't get her panels)

Olivier is my ultimate pick, this woman is a just a queen, she is surrounded by all kind of alchemists, homonculus or wtv, but she's just a normal lady with no specific power, but damn, she stands so tall, there is no need of strenght or superpower to be badass. She is capable and yeah uncompromising. She s a member of the military but gives a huge middle finger to her country racist policy and she she kept a Ishballan hunder her wings, that's a badass woman imo ! she doesnt care about anyone opinion, nor she let anyone influence or manipulate her and she's not relying on anyone, be it a man, friends or family, but that doesn't mean she's not caring, on the contrary. She is still a protective woman, towards her family and her soldiers. That's why I gave her 10 points and I like her better than any other FMA females ( who are all great, btw )

I knew Revy would win. Either she or the major. What surprised me was Olivier ranking this high. I kinda saw her in the top 15 or 10, but not in the top 3.
