Don't you mean 720 episodes. Anyway I stopped watching Naruto Shippuden around the time when the Juubi appeared(finished the manga though). For me Naruto was my gateway anime and I would not have become an anime fan if it wasn't for this series. For that reason Naruto will always be a treasured series for me up there with Dragonball which I saw before I even knew what anime was.

I still remember when I was able to look forward to Naruto, Bleach and One Piece anime's and manga's. Then Bleach ruined that schedule in 2012 when its anime got cancelled and now both Bleach and Naruto anime/manga have finished. Just One Piece left going strong on both fronts.

For me my favourite era of Jump will always be the big three era where all three were popular. I binge watched Naruto, Bleach and One piece catching up with all three within a couple months. The funny thing about those three series is the fact that I have never been able to watch 20 episodes a day of any anime since I was doing it for those three to catch up back in the day. Good times indeed, Sayonara Naruto.
Personaly I love the current generation of manga though. Where quality and successful series don't have to be 400+ chapters. Take Neverland, or Shokugeki, or MHA or Tokyo Ghoul. All of these series bar Neverland are around the same size and extremely popular.

What's everyone's top five favorite currently running series in WSJ?
Mine are
  1. Black Clover
  2. MHA (This is a very close second had the current arc been a little more appealing to me it could've been first)
  3. We Can't Study (again not exactly sure why I like this series so much but it's here for now)
  4. R x L
  5. Shokugeki no Soma (this would probably be higher if I was't so far behind the current arc)

That Naruto wedding wasn't even that great....Although it made me want to see the Toriko wedding animated. Now that's a good wedding. (even tho Toriko x Rin was very dull/bland)

Why are some of you putting golf in their top 5 after one painfully average chapter?

I know this is really early to talk about but is there a likely chance of these newer titles (KnY, TPN, etc.) to get a 2 cour anime. I really dont want KnY to get a 1 cour anime.

Because it's a top 5 FAV list not what we think what the top manga are.

That's your subjective opinion and no one will question you, you shouldn't question others as well.

It's likely I'd think. It's rare for Jump series to even get single cour first seasons. The only examples I could find going back to the 80s are:
MHA in 2016
Medaka Box in 2012
Level E in 2011 (Only 3 volumes and the series ended in 1997)
Hatsukoi Limited in 2009 (Also only 3 volumes)
Ichigo 100% in 2005
DNA² (Only 5 volumes) in 1994

So MHA, Medaka and Ichigo are the only real examples. Granted the industry is different now and it's much more likely to happen so who knows. I'm not entirely sure how the anime industry works and if Shueisha has any say in this stuff, but after what happened with MHA you'd think they would want to avoid that at all costs.

It was weird in itself for MHA to even get it. I can somewhat understand it because MHA has a fairly big arc early on (USJ) which is rare for their series. Yaiba doesn't really have an arc like that, so a single cour wouldn't cover anything of interest. I think we can expect a 2 cour to cover at least the spider arc as that's where the manga has gained the most traction. Same with Neverland. They're not going to do 1 cour because it wouldn't cover anything and there's nowhere they could place a satisfactory ending.

didn't you guys post your top 5 like a couple of days ago?

Why are some of you putting golf in their top 5 after one painfully average chapter?
I don't have an issue with it being average but just like you said it have been 1 chapter

how can anything be your favorite with just 1 chapter?

Heroaca series total: 10 Million

For comparison:

The comparisons are misleading because most of those series, if not all, still didn't have anime with those volumes ( except maybe Toriko) so they still didn't have the boost in sales from the anime, MHA already had an anime a year ago.

Ranking?

1) One Piece
2) Shokugeki no Soma
3) Haikyuu
4) The Promised Neverland
5) My Hero Academia

The Promised Neverland will not be that long because of the structure of the story. I don't see Shokugeki no Soma becoming so long as well, but My Hero Academia can surpass this amount of chapters. My point is that 1) they are on going series and can reach 400+ chapters and 2) Naruto, One Piece, Bleach were successful before they had 400+ chapters, there isn't much difference. They reached 400+ BECAUSE they were succesful. XD

Are you sure we read the samething? We do not even know the world beyond those walls and yet the world-building looks big considering the set up in the plot so far. And plus fixing the society that Krone hope they would, do you think they would fix it in short amount of time when it took a whole 4 volumes to get out of this orphanage?

I think Neverland has enough source to become a long running series, world-building/characters, not to mention the author has an artist that would help him keep up the quality of the writing.

I really hope Kimetsu gets a 2 cour s1 as well, a 1 cour would probably finish after Drum House which I feel like a lot of people weren't too keen on (especially compared to the spider arc, pillar meeting, then the training stuff after it).

Current arc will probably make a decent ending point for a 2 cour series once its done, I expect we'll see another Muzan chapter at the end it introducing one or two of the upper 6 moons (meaning it can end on a bunch of hype for future stuff) and it'll likely finish in the early 60s which is pretty standard pacing for wsj anime.

We haven't heard anything about Black Clover's anime length yet have we? It'd probably work best as a long runner and it's by Pierrot so there's a good chance of it getting one but I haven't even seen some rumours yet (I suppose they're probably not going to surface until the air date is announce).

When I think of a short series with a full run in jump, I think of Death Note. So I don't think Neverland will be nearly as short as Death Note. However, I also don't think it'll be super long either. I'm think around Assassination Classroom length.
