Doesnt the fact that MHA is only being beated by long runners mean its doing extremely well? I wouldnt expect new shows to have any chance of beating shows that people have been actively watching for years and are now part of their weekly schedules.
Youkai Watch did that in its beginning, and that is the reason it turned into a long runner.

You have Kindaichi Return, Kaitou, Time Bokan 24 Thriller Restaurant, Nodame Cantabile, Major and other short running series that appeared in the Top 10.

The size of an anime has little to do with the TV rating of a series, in fact more time a series runs the probability increases of decreasing the ratings. More than that Timeslot is a bigger influence to the TV ratings. Good timeslot means more people watching the series at that time, and so better ratings. My hero Academia is in a dreamy timeslot. Primetime, Weekend, right before Detective Conan.

TV Ratings for April 3 - April 9:

  1. Sazae-san (12.8%)
  2. Doraemon Crayon Shin-chan The spring! 3 hours Anime festival (9.4%)
  3. Chibi Maruko-chan (8.9%)
  4. One Piece (7.9%)
  5. Detective Conan (6.4%)
  6. Dragon Ball Super (5.9%)
  7. Pokemon Sun & Moon - 1 Hour Special (4.2%)
  8. Curious George (3.7%)
  9. My Hero Academia (3.5%)
  10. Yokai Watch (3.1%)
Correct me if I'm wrong , the TV Rating presents only the Kanto region rating, since other regions have different channels and scheduled except from NHK which is nation wide. So let's say Kanto has 42 million people living that's 1.47 million viewers for the second episode. Guess it was a lucky bet to replace the channel and time slot.

But will it translate to increased manga sales.

It's ironic, you find internet forums to discuss your favorite series only to come to dislike how many difference in opinion you can find. I haven't read a single chapter of BC in my life, I'm waiting for the anime to see if I like it, but honestly I just find the criticism funny and don't take it too seriously cause if I took it to heart I wouldn't even attempt to go out of my way to watch. I think baseless bashing is when I can get annoyed but most of the time people put their reasons behind why they think BC is trash so again I find it funny. I only seen comments on here and on MAL regarding it and people slam tf out of that series where I've looked so isn't fair to pin it on people on mangahelpers--on MAL people call it a Naruto x FT ripoff. FT does have its flaws that anyone can see but saying BC is better is a slap in the face lol, it's not at all and not close imo. People having been slamming BC since Day 1 which seems rare that a series a little over 100 chapters in gets slammed that much online. But to Burachi's credit our opinions really don't matter as it does well in the ToC every week, so it has to be something Japan likes about it.

On the topic of MHA It's a good amount of people who like it on here, but as I said baseless bashing which GIA can do alot is what can trigger people, nobody fucking cares if someone thinks it's overrated or not great cause it's not like it's a fact that MHA's writing is great, but saying it should be canceled or go on hiatus or it should die a horrible death...? Come on now, it's not that deep. I'm a huge fan of MHA but I can tell you it's too much damn dialogue and speech bubbles that crowds the pages. Still one of the most enjoyable series I've read since I started FT so if you enjoy something enjoy it, I understand that too much negativity can drag but it is what it is, people just simply are not huge fans of BC on here.

Anyways, yeah people aren't liking tan line lol she did come out of nowhere but i'll be surprised if WNL doesn't move up when we get to the girl-specific chapters. Plus tan line will be alot more likeable later on

Fairy Tail knows it's dumb, Black Clover pretends to try and follow a serious but non existent story. Takes itself too seriously, despite the occasional comedy moments.
Fairy Tail as flawed as it may be is a far superior manga.
That is definitely the opposite especially when FT tries hyping things.

Yeah, Black Clover is made purely to be fun to read and look forward to every week and it quite clearly knows it. Sure it has serious moments but they're not there just to create drama or shock the readers, they happen because it's a cool moment that'll make the chapter fun to read.

Fairy Tail was like that early on but as it's went on it has kept trying to have these big serious dramatic moments with deaths and family conflict and such (especially in the current arc) but every time it just flops over, with none of the hype ever resulting in something satisfying because Mashima doesn't know how to resolve anything (usually defaulting to stuff like because she's Erza or having a quick oh he actually didn't die he's fine scene in the very next chapter after a big emotional sacrifice).

Black Clover is definitely the better manga in that regard, Tabata is significantly better at resolving plot points than Mashima is (Tabata's problem is more with starting stories).

What do you mean? Tho I think I know what, that I'm counting the sales data with the print data which is quite wrong since the it's the number of copies that has been printed is also include in the sales of the volume. It become a bad habit of mine since my fans in youtube told me to use oricon data and not only print data and sometimes I forget about *not* counting sales data from the volume that this info came from. I'll edit the post.

Volumes Printed would already include the volumes sold at retailers.
