I attribute this largely to a single, central problem that has been plaguing the series for far too long. I used to be insanely hyped for Shokugeki every week, but this arc is moving at a snail's pace.

That and also the big factor that shokugeki's can only be so interesting/fun for so long. It's so boring at this point and has been predictable most of the time for a long time now.

The release dates are different. Volume 12 was released in February, Vol 13 in April, Vol 14 in June. Vol 15 was released in September but is less than 80k away from Volume 14 despite the difference in 3 months.

I can agree with that. In order to keep shokugekis interesting and fun, they could've made some of them a bit more lighthearted or zany. I get that they're serious at heart and the cornerstone of the school, but this Azami/Central arc sucked the joy out of them by relying on tension and fear. I preferred the battles between rivals rather than "life-or-death" scenarios.
Interesting, i always think people will rush out to the book store to buy it immediately.
Perhaps come in march/avril in Oricon Book (out each year) but this year in oricon site for member (need to pay for be member) (not www.oricon.co.jp) they are only top 10 and top 50. Last year was top 30 and top 100, but i check archive and even now for 2016 they are only top 10 and top 50.

If this is what a season 2 boost looks like, imagine what a season 3 boost looks like.....
Honestly, I always knew the author was extremely average. When you have to resort to tentacle rape in the first chapter for shock value, you know it's not going to be able maintain quality in the long run. I was surprised it lasted this long because I keep asking myself, why the hell do people even like this? The matches are downright predictable. The ones staying for the fanservice, I can understand, but the battle aspect? Horrible. The only exception is the autumn finals, which I actually liked.

Im sure that’s part of it, but I think its also just the natural cycle of the series. It reached its peak a while ago and now it’s just gonna drop until it dies like Toriko and countless other examples... The fact that the manga just isn’t interesting anymore probably contributed to the speed it’s fallen though. Considering it’s still in the top 10, I doubt we’ll see it go anywhere for another 2 years at least though.
