(TN: J’s Japanese line is “Sore ga kisamara no hakaishi da!”, which literally is “That is your tombstone” with the “kisamara” referring to both Gobarski and the wolves)

TN: (sits there with a shocked look on his face, like he had just seen a ghost)

I can't joke about this anymore. I really wish I could, but...it's just getting seriously creepy now. Almost insanely coincidental. Like...a dirty little secret that has been kept hidden for close to 20 years now. I mean...it's even insane saying it out loud without pinching yourself:

An American trained by the military who fights in a tournament uses a fist that is so fast that it breaks the speed of sound, flying out like a "sonic boom".


We just saw that with J here in an insanely awesome moment destroying the Toudou face and burying Gobarski and the wolves but...this is the exact same concept as Guile from "Street Fighter II". And this is coming closely after the Raja Mahal fight where we have the "Dhalsim-like yoga rubber man" fighting the "bishonen who at one point obsessed with his face and used a claw weapon". And as you think about it even further, even Red Thunder a few fights back feels like he was an inspiration for Thunder Hawk from Super SFII...while his "electric ability" feels like it was inspiration for Blanka's own electric personality. Now I can't say every fighter has a connection (Gorbarski may be Russian but he isn't like Zangeif, we already have celebrity connections for Balrog and Fei Long, no one is going to touch Chun-Li...since she's female, M. Bison is based on the "Teiou Monogatari" villain and...of course Ryu, Ken and Sagat are from the original...there is also E.Honda but...), but it just dawns upon me more the further I get in these finals: if Capcom isn't giving Akira Miyashita money, they really, really should be. I know they may all just be stupid coincidences, but the fact that so much of Otokojuku feels like it inspired so much of one of the defining fighting games in video game history...it just feels like something completely unknown and lost having so limited an Otokojuku connection here! Heck, I'm probably wrong but...it's just scary.

Oh, as for the chapter...I'd say more but essentially the next couple chapters are probably some of the hardest, toughest battles J has had in a really long time...some would say Hakuhou but I say at least since Raiden or Momo early on! The fact that Gobarski is just so thorough in handing J shows that he isn't messing around compared to so many others who he takes on...but that makes J all the sweeter with stuff like...the Sonic Boom...er, J - S - M - P.
