@Nemispelled Agree with most of your points and Daniel's as wells but don't see what's so impressive of destroying a tall building lol, even if it's accidentally. Like, we have casual mountain busters these days.

Far be it from me to defend Irene, but what? How is shattering a cathedral impressive at this point, especially to someone like Irene? August was about to nuke the city and was destroying the cathedral just due to his immense magical power and Irene is certainly on his general level. August also blocked Gildarts punch pretty easily. Yes, he was taken aback a bit by the strength of it, but he still easily blocked it.I think the answer to this battle is pretty clear at this point..
I don't see Irene having any chance of winning this or beating Gildartz, for that matter. Unless she can match August in a fight, she won't have a chance at Gildartz. And since Irene was defeated by the likes of Erza and Wendy, the scale tips more in Gildartz's favor at the moment.
A single punch from Gildartz accidentally shattered Kardia Cathedral to pieces. I don't see any feats from Irene that can even come close in comparison..
I don't think I've ever seen August look that shocked or surprised before when Gildartz fell from the sky.

Saying Gildarts wins this already is really jumping the gun, especially since she has a dragon form which Gildarts has no answer for considering he doesn't possess DS magic.
? He destroyed a cathedral. Irene brought down a metor, enchant 1m soilders that were overpowering Erza and actually forced one of the characters to die. Universe 1 shits in literally anything gildart will ever doo. Even a paw swipe from Irene broke almost all of Erza bones for a moment.
I think that Gildartz at full power >>> Erza's DS enchanted sword....
Not really. August and Irene have been implied to be on similar levels since they were introduced with August having the edge. Not once is it ever implied that one is significantly above the other. And I'm sorry, but destroying a cathedral by accident isn't impressive either. It's a building. We've seen destructive feats far far far above that at this point.By portrayal alone, both August and Gildartz are far above Irene. Sure, destroying a cathedral isn't that impressive, but the fact that Gildartz did it unintentionally speaks volume of his hidden power.
No, they're really not. Irene broke every bone in Erza's body with a single swipe. She enchanted a meteor from space. That's significantly better than Gildarts destroying a cathedral or blocking a random magical attack from August.August blocked Gildartz's punch easily, but Gildartz also blocked August's attack pretty easily as well. So far, Gildartz's feats are already well above Irene, who was outclassed by Erza and Wendy several times.
Agree that Irene's portrayal and feats are above Gildarts (only reason she lost is due to Wendy and Erza bullshit and of course PoF) but want to point out that summoning a meteor from space shouldn't be that big a deal. Jellal did it back in Tartarus lol.The strength of it doesn't matter. You need DS magic to bypass a dragons durability. This has been alluded to time and time again.

You really need to chill with overhyping Gildarts at this point. Wait until the fight actually finishes before you start jumping to these conclusions.
That wasn't a meteor from space. That was one he created from his magic. Irene literally enchanted one from outer space and hurled it to Earth in an attempt to kill Erza. It's far more impressive than Jellal's.Agree that Irene's portrayal and feats are above Gildarts (only reason she lost is due to Wendy and Erza bullshit and of course PoF) but want to point out that summoning a meteor from space shouldn't be that big a deal. The very fact that the only thing capable of hurting dragons is DS magic. You're welcome to point me to a panel where any other magic is effective against them? This was the very reason Wendy had to enchant Erza's sword with DS magic. It's the very reason why people like Wendy were capable of hurting dragons back during the GMG while people like Makarov couldn't.Who said you need DS magic to bypass a dragon's durability?
I would like manga proof or evidence of that, if possible. I've never heard of such a condition. That was made up simply by the fans prior to recent chapters.
No, it most certainly is not. All it means is that a sword strike as powerful as Erza's combined with DS magic would be capable of beating a dragon like Irene. Gildarts qualifies for the former, but he most certainly doesn't for the latter as he doesn't possess DS magic. It's canonically confirmed that anybody who is >= Erza's DS enchanted sword, can beat a dragon like Irene, who is GMG dragon tier.
I don't know what part of my post you're addressing here. The Spriggan 12 were implied to be stronger than almost all FT mages? Is that true?
I don't think so, considering 11 out of 12 have already fallen.
And Ajeel decimated Erza who proceeded to beat Irene. Logic doesn't exactly apply when it comes to her or can Ajeel suddenly beat Irene now?Irene's best spell (in dragon form) is Deus Sema.
Erza, with 99% broken bones was able to shatter it to pieces.
I'm not and there's no evidence he can at this point.I'm sure Gildartz can crash that meteor with one hand.
You keep claiming this with nothing to back it up. Gildarts has done nothing so far that's more impressive than Irene.Irene is as good as over the moment Gildartz takes the battle seriously. Both August and Gildartz are far above Irene, who was defeated and outsmarted by Wendy and Erza.
I'm not. You're the one overhyping Gildarts despite the fact that he hasn't done anything yet.Let's not overhype Irene than what she actually was.
Was it ever stated he created it out of his magic? Irene's magic is called Deus *Sema* which is the same thing as Jellal's except vastly more powerful. Hiro wouldn't give it the same name otherwise. He even made Erza comment on how it was a stronger version of Jellal's magic. Even Irene herself said 'Enchant into Heavenly Body Magic' so technically it should work in the same way. That wasn't a meteor from space. That was one he created from his magic. It didn't need to be. You see a cyclone form in the sky when Jellal uses sema and then a meteor drops. You never see a meteor coming in from space like you do with Irene's. It being an upgraded version of the same spell doesn't mean the mechanics work in the same way. It just means should Jellal eventually get that spell then he too could call in a meteor from space. And I wouldn't use Erza as reliable source considering she's never even seen Jellal's sema. Was it ever stated he created it out of his magic? Except it's literally Sema but just enchanted to be more powerful. Deus is literally a prefix for high level enchantments. Irene used it before in her fight against Erza and Wendy and Wendy did too - most of their named spells had the prefix 'Deus'.It didn't need to be. They most certainly could, at least more so than normal mages.Actually, nobody could hurt the dragons in GMG. Not even the dragon slayers.
If it weren't for the Eclipse Gate being destroyed, all of the dragon slayers would have been slayed. Dragons naturally have high durability, that's a fact. But it was never stated that DS magic is required to bypass a dragon's durability. That's the flaw in your claim.
Erza was performing better against Irene even after Wendy went down than how she performed against Ajeel. My point still stands. So if we're using your argument then I guess Ajeel can beat Irene and since Elfman and Lisanna beat Ajeel they can beat Irene as well, right? Like I said, logic doesn't apply to Erza. Her cutting down that meteor in no way means Gildarts can.Ajeel decimated Erza because she was alone.
Against Irene, Erza was not alone, she had Wendy beside her, who was a dragon slayer. Erza needs DS magic to defeat Irene because she lacks the power... Gildartz doesn't because he already has the power sufficient to beat her.
Gildartz cannot be compared to the likes of Erza. At full power, he would be stronger than PoF Erza's DS enchanted sword and Wendy combined.
I'm most certainly not. All I've done is state what she's done, which is break every bone in Erzas's body with a single swipe and call down a meteor from outer space. Gildarts has destroyed a cathedral and blocked a random magcial attack from August. Absolutely nothing about either of those feats warrants placing him above Irene let alone "far" above her like you're claiming.I can say the same about your claims. You keep overhyping Irene when manga feats and scans clearly prove otherwise.
Not really. I've already pointed out the flaw in that argument. And he doesn't have DS magic, so he's never getting past her durability.Irene's strongest spell to date is Deus Sema.
If Erza could destroy it, so can Gildartz.
If Gildartz can destroy Irene's strongest spell, then there is nothing stopping him from taking the victory.

Exactly. Irene's enchantment abilities allow her to call a meteor from space rather than create one like Jellal's.Except it's literally Sema but just enchanted to be more powerful. Deus is literally a prefix for high level enchantments. Irene used it before in her fight against Erza and Wendy and Wendy did too - most of their named spells had the prefix 'Deus'.
Also, yes, Erza hasn't seen it EVER so how can she recognise it as Sema, a spell of Jellal's? Simple, Mashima just writes her that way (which we all obviously know). Which means Mashima wanted to make Erza say it, to give Deus Sema hype.
This is my view now exactly.Gildarts stomps her human form but he gets owned badly against her dragon form.
