I see where the Grand Blue comparison comes from, but this is Kenji Inoue we're talking about, who's easily one of the GOAT comedy mangakas. Agravity's first chapter absolutely pales in comparison.
Not to mention, while the comedy in Grand Blue is pretty dudebro-ish at times (mostly because of the copious amounts of alcohol), it's tempered quite a bit by other stuff. Agravity Boys Chapter 1 gives me little hope that Atsushi Nakamura has the ability to create that level of nuance.
Tha Fantastic Strange Tale of the Demon Slayer sounds like a Light Novel title lol
Demon Junting God of Fire may have been lil bit spoilerish down the road lol
Some of you need to stop underestimating Black Clover, I know it's had this thing since it released of people trying to paint it as some unpopular flop but c'mon, it's carved out a healthy niche, gets solid mid-tier sales, and has a long running anime that's had no signs of ending.
Plus with 7-8 spots filled by either flops or nothing and 4-5 series likely to end next year, there's no chance of it ending any time soon unless Tabata decides to do it. They'd pretty much need 10+ bigger hits for Black Clover to be at risk and that's not certain to happen over the whole decade, never mind in just 5 or even 3 years (the 10s had I think 9 series bigger than Black Clover? maybe 10-11 depending on how Act-age and Chainsawman grow).
Black Clover's going to stick around for at least most of the 20s, whether you like it or not.
It is not a question of underestimating or not, it is a question of being realistic.
In other words, how many manga from the Jump have reached 15 years of publication? Few, and they are all manga that sold scary figures.
That is, even if we go to see the "recent" story of the Jump, we see that manga like Reborn or Toriko, which sold much more than Black Clover, ended even before reaching 10 years ....
Precisely for this reason I realistically give him about two or three years ... which are not few, that is, they would be more or less 30-35 volumes, a respectable figure.

Sorry, what's that got to do with it?
This is not about sales, but about duration .....
Also medaka box, that shit was the "black clover" of the 2000's (but sometimes better written after the first gag arc) an masterpiece that didnt go past the 200 chapter

Ikr, assholes xD. Same how they find certain mangas to be gory and doesnt match the "shonen standard" and declined (cough attack on titan) but then u something like chainsawman. Mann jump idk, they are unpredictable desperate at times
95% of Agravity Boys' 1st chapter is too forced. Earth starts a nuclear war 2 days after they leave, a black hole teleports the crew in 3 days to their destination in what would originally have taken 20 years, and then a creature from another dimension appears and gives them a chance to rebuild humanity (which wouldn't have worked anyway).
At least it looks like this "turn someone into a woman to rebuild humanity" plot point is thrown out of the window and they will now search for another crew of female human scientists.
Well, that's the purpose that its forced. It literally break some gagy thropes where you can cringe over it. To be honest I like it more than zipman (for now), but it can turn old pretty fast. Let's see how it will turn out for the coming 8 chapters

Also I think the premise about the gender bend is a "click-bait", they will prob find other survivors so they dont have to gender bond or some other ridiculous idea.
It's pretty hard to maintain the popularity with 13 pages. It can kill his own manga, I know his health is the problem but man.. it sucks

Agravity Boys was a bit odd, it's hard to tell what kind of series exactly it wants to be. Feels like it's initially wanting to be a romcom with the "you have 1 year to use the elixir" thing of 3 guys basically trying to seduce another guy, but interplanetary sci-fi with such a dramatic backstory is an odd setting to do that. There's also those super-suits hinting that it maybe has some action stuff planned? Or at least ready for it to attempt an emergency genre shift.
If it does stick with the BL harem route though, that's quite an interesting choice to see from WSJ. With the ending though, I get the feeling the elixir might also potentially end up getting used by accident or something. Who knows, Maybe it'll go the Yui Kamio/Double Taisei route and spend the first two volumes having no idea what kind of series it wants to be.
Also regarding titles, we know from Saike Once Again (Saike mata shitemo) over in Sunday that at least some authors send a bunch of potential titles they thought up to their editor and the editor picks their favourite. Perhaps that's what happened with Kimetsu no Yaiba.

This is going be the last I'll comment on the matter, but one thing that really made Grand Blue stood out from the get-go was how relatable the characters were. Plus, Inoue is a master of comedic timing. This, and a wide variety of characters in the cast, plus good chemistry between all of them is why Grand Blue is one of the best comedy mangas currently running.
Nakamura has a long way to go, but he sure as hell can try. The only question is, with Jump's ruthless reader-base, how soon can he turn it around?

Well, at the very least it's been lukewarm so far. Nothing terrible. But it feels pretty below standard. Zipman definitely had a better first chapter imo.
Agravity Boys was incredible and even the cute little flowery background accents for my husbando Saga *swoons from perfect boyfriend material* hold me.
Truly it is the BL content that JUMP needs more of heart. Still smiling.
Okay, so I read the most recent chapter of Yuuna-san, and I feel like it's going somewhere important but taking it's sweet ass time getting there. When do you guys think that series will end? Unlike the other main candidates for concluding in 2020, this one's a complete wild card.

Personally I think Yuuna only needs maybe 10 chapters to give a fully satisfying finale at this point if it decided to focus fully on ending, most major character stuff is either already wrapped up or only needs one final chapter.
When it'll decide to start ending though is another matter since, considering how it's exclusively doing silly one-off episodic stuff right now, I get the feeling Miura is just having fun making manga and doesn't want to stop quite yet. He could end it in 1 volume it any time really, but it might be a while before he makes that decision.
I don't think it'll beat Nisekoi as the longest wsj romcom but I think it's already in second place?
Did you forget to take off your VR Headset cause I dont know which reality youre living in when BLack Clover is just as popular as ever.
Week after week Tabata is raising the bar on storytelling mastery and fans are loving it more and more.
BLack Clover is is alive and thriving.
The true manga that is killing its own manga is HeroAca, bringing charas from a spinoff into canon at such a late point in a series life, what a noob move. Awful.
