Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

No, I don't think bone collection and Moriking have given such a clear idea in the first 3 chapters.

The first 3 chapters of each one were isolated chapters, with a beginning, middle and end. it was from 4 onwards that things started to move.
Moriking's a gag manga, so it's creative intent is pretty clear from the onset.

Bone Collection is terrible, but at least I can discern it's tone and direction.

Time Paradox just leaves me confused what it's exactly going to do. Is it about the protagonists struggles in the manga industry? Is it about time travel and paradoxes? Is it about the hero and heroine squaring off as rivals in the manga industry? Zero establishment of a real narrative goal has been established, which is bad for a narrative manga, and it creates a foundation which feels equal parts scatter-shot and unfocused.

Best chapters this week for me would be Chainsaw, Ghost Writer, and Jujutsu in that order.

Chainsaw was a good transition to the next arc with good development for our trio as well as more mystery with the door. I think this next arc will be the big arc for Chainsaw, similar to Kamino in HeroAca or Shibuya in Jujutsu. It was teased at the start of the previous arc. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Ghost Writer: Seems like it's the rivalry route for now. I like it. It makes the series less predictable and allows the two to grow in their own ways. MC will continue the manga, but won't be supported by the girl and instead she prob will create a new title. I think this will lead to a stopping point for the Jump issues coming from the future. I can see it becoming a factor which forces the MC to find his own originality since he no longer has issues to copy from.

Jujutsu: All those fish just jumping at the three of them just looks vicious. Clutch save at the end too. I'm betting this will be Maki's chance to shine and show that she is a competent and capable fighter instead of the disappointment she's made out to be from the clan's head. Expecting some character development in the coming chapters.

Neverland was really meh this week and if it weren't for the fact that some things are still unknown, I would say it is the worst of the stuff I read this week. As much as I'd like it to just be over with, I feel like this is starting another arc. Can't wait for another "climax."

Undead: I felt this chapter was weaker than usual with subpar execution. Fuuko is just latched on to Victor, but he isn't killing her? I know there is a fast dude, but it just felt to convenient to have them standing there instead of killing her while listening to the strategy. I know it's a shonen manga and the whole "talking is free action" trope, but I feel it would be better to just go with it instead of catching them up to the plan. It would feel more like the usual Undead if it went like that.

Bokuben: Fumino route begins! These last three routes are my favorite 3 girls in the series, so hopefully it will be exciting and not drag like the previous route, which I stopped like 3 or 4 times to read in 2 or 3 chapter batches instead of weekly.

Hero: Honestly not excited. This arc wasn't very good and isn't improving much. All the Shigaraki stuff isn't hype or menacing in my opinion. I want to like it, but the writing just feels lackluster to me. There was a lot of jumping around between scenes and I was confused at what happened. Took like 2-3 rereads to figure it out. So yeah I think it's too much happening at once that is lowering my enjoyment.

Mashle: Funny reactions from our boy this chapter. I know some people say it's a knock off of ONE, but it's still funny and feels unique. Even though the content was simple, I still enjoyed it a lot. Maybe this villain will finally be of some challenge, but I'll prob laugh if he gets one shot next week after Mash takes that dude to the hospital.

Clover: Finally some good content, been waiting like 1.5 months for this. Time for our girls to shine. Hopefully it's a back and forth type fight and not just Noelle obliterating the enemy with the water power boost from the Princess.

Hope Guardian gets cancelled in the next few issues so we can get Kubo's superior work instead. Guardian is the biggest disappointment of Jump 2020 other than Zipman.

Again, you don't even know if the manga is going to be a hit or not.
If he settles there you ask these questions.

But as far as I’ve seen, there’s a lot of people praising the narrative, which you’re complaining about.

I think it will take Aino to become a rival to Teppei, because as far as I know the minimum age to be a manga author is 20 years old and she is only 17 years old.

The meltdown if Ghostwriter turns out to be a flop...
Don't jinx it.

Just like the Samurai 8 meltdown :cheez
That one was actually enjoyable to watch melt down.

If Mashle turns out to flop in sales the entire thread is going to be in a very awkward state.
Don't jinx it either!

Really surpised to see Agravity so low. WTF
Eh, the Quiz chapter wasn't really good so it is understandable. Plus I think people are giving up on it, no CP, no good rankings, no good sales, etc.

i know its a hopeless question but do you guys think HunterxHunter will return in 2020?
Hahaha~
I respect your optimism to even ask that question. XD

Everyone’s so focused on the top and bottom 5 that nobody realized that Guardian of the Witch is out of the bottom 5 for the first time in forever.

Not just this thread, but beyond that as well. I can argue that MASHLE is currently the most popular newbie in the West right now, followed by TPGW. If those two flop, I might as well just not get my hopes up again.
I noticed and I think it is due Claude and Spica. Since they appeared GotW is getting more points.

I wonder what this is about.
It's a trap!

I should elaborate:

It started off a little weird, but the middle was super intriguing, but then it got a little weird again at the end. Not a bad chapter, IMO, but not what I was expecting. I can see some being disappointed here. I really do like the question that this chapter poses, especially as someone who draws and often comes up with little stories myself “What does it mean to be original?” How was Aino able to make something so good if she’s in the same boat as MC?It can’t just be sheer passion and dedication to the craft.

Or maybe I’m thinking too much into it. Either way, I want to know more about Aino now.
For me being original meaning to like my own work and to be able to enjoy it as if I had not done it myself and was just a consumer of it. If someone else doesn't like it, that's on them. It's similar to the movie Kei saw with her director, most people were confused about it, she found it pretty good and enjoyable. Originality is just subjectively different for everyone, it is never truly achieved. Heck, Tolkien has written the Orcs off some old nordic saga and just added the fact that they were once Elves now twisted into monsters, so in a way you could argue that he was also "stealing" from other people previous works.

A particular line stuck out to me about TPGW: “The readers just want to enjoy the manga, they don’t care about the artist!”

I wonder how true of a statement this is.
I'd say yes and no, there are a lot of series I have never cared who was the person behind them and some series where I do care who is the one behind it like some webcomics like Drowtales or CaD or some manga series like One Piece, Detective Conan and ofc World trigger. TPGW has no idea how many chicken nuggets I sacrificed to the almighty Manga Gods to appease them to gift Ashihara with more health for his neck, and his back, and his gallbladder, and his liver and... god, Ashihara, don't die on me! Live, damn it!!! :emocat

Okay, NOW I'm getting ending vibes from Mitama. Feels like the author let out all of his ideas for Secureity at once. Wouldn't be surprised if this finished next week/month.

TPN is trying to add some extra suspense, but pretty much everything is already resolved so it's probably not going to last long.

Dr Stone is getting interesting. I'm so glad they have a whole bunch of smart people so we're not wasting time explaining everything.

Moriking speaks of possible battles, but keeps giving us slice-of-life stories.

Bone Collection is all over the place. I'm not even sure what genre it is anymore.

Time Paradox was kind of a wild ride. I'm not sure what to think about it yet, but I hope the whole series doesn't become one big misunderstanding.

Mashle's new bad guy is actually a cutie. I wonder if he's going to stay a villain. He sounds somehow both completely evil and strangely reasonable.

Yozakura: Did you actually think that would calm him down..? Anyway, it looks like we're back to slice-of-life stories. Guess this one isn't ending just yet after all.

Guardian of the Witch slowed down again. They could've easily merged this with the previous chapter. The mangaka needs to practise drawing fast action scenes, too.

I was wondering about that, too. It was fine last chapter since you could just chalk it up to him being taken by surprise and not sure how to respond, but this time he was sort of trying to kill her but not really and it was just weird.

@NeeNeen Isnt that because to Victor Fuuko is just a fly, like not worth to end it unless it annoys him too much? He did say to Unbreakable basically "Dude, you're not a combatant, stay outta this and I let you live.", he basically just lives to fight so he doesn't care about people who can't. I think he will change his opinion about Fuuko after that chapter though.

TPN: I admit I ain't yet at the Souma "Just EEEEEEEEND already~" phase yet but if this keeps going for another dozen chapters, I gonna get there...

Dr. Stone: I am still so hung up over last chapter's reveal that I can't even fully appreciate Taiju's acting skills...

MHA: Toga is so beautiful when she is scary! <3

Moriking: This is solid. I want this to live. Oka's a treasure you should never come close to when she is cutting veggies, Shoko's "bf" is her pet and humankind will get murdered by ten quintillion bugs if the wrong bug wins the king contest. Fun times! Seriously though without Shoko this wouldn't be as funny as it is. Girl is doing hard work!

CSM: Damn, what a rough outcome of this arc. Most other series wouldn't even have one tenth of the bad things happening to their "good" side as in CSM. Very happy Denji chose to stay with Power to help her instead of going on a trip with Makima as a reward. Dude is growing. Also really loved the ending, the two panels at the end, powerful stuff, stuff we already know we will someday get back to but that day ain't today and that is also good.

BoneC: Uuuuuuuuh... like I said real hard to get into any of the characters, even the new introduced character is just... ugh. It's hard to care for the story when you don't care for the characters. I care more about the GotW charas than this one's charas so far and I am pretty sure that isn't a good thing.

Haikyu!: Yep, I am officially lost, I have no idea who's who in what flashback and what and why purpose those have and what is going on....

AA: Sounds like an....uh..... interestingly challenged movie to watch. But hey if Kei liked it all the more power to her! Finally we are back on track for her career to kick off even more!

TPG: Ok, I did NOT expect that! Not sure if that is good or bad or whatever but it is unexpected. Aino's a cute, no complains there and a bit of a whacko, I like her. So he did told her the truth but she didn't believe it and rather thought that they were on the same wavelength and that he made the exact same manga as her... and now she challenged him that she will make an even better manga than White Knight while leaving WK to him? This girl is insanely impressive, wow, what a Shounen girl! It is interesting how different those two characters took their "emptiness" and "nothingness" to create art. It is now pretty clear Teppei never had an original idea of his own while Aino seems to be brimming with them. I did expected those two to work together, not to become rivals, will be interesting to see where this goes from there.

BC: Don't read it, clicked on it by accident though. But just to make sure, this ain't in his "last arc", right?

WNL: Skimmed through it, wasn't very interested tbh.

Mitama: Okay, mystery solved. Only question left is WHY???

JjK: Again, great fight, but can't hyped when mah man Nanami ain't in the spotlight. XD

Mashle: Damn, dude...... so just to make it clear, "clever" and "Mashle" wouldn't dream of it to put them in the same sentence, but wow is he quick on his thinking! Slytherin Twintail's cute, hope she becomes a good one.^^

UU: I can talk more about this, right? It hasn't three volumes out yet, so I am still good, right? @Halloween
Love the chapter cover! Loved Fuuko's whole shounen character coupled with the worst kind of shoujo main heroine (you know the one who is all head over heels for the "bad delinquent" everyone knows won't be good to her), like this? It works surprisingly well.
Shooting Victor into the head and push with her thumb into that wound into his brain to touch Andy there and then run away all dead embarrassed when Andy came back and kissed her? This is such a weird Shounen/Shoujo mix, lol! But it works. XDDD
Liked the shown fight, Victor just standing there like a badass who can't be bothered while the Union fights off his clones to keep Fuuko safe was great. Victors responses to the Union/the leader Juiz are very interesting, more to that in the UU thread though.

M:FY: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF~.... Taiyo has joined the Spy Freaks, goddamnit.... at least the dog is cute...

GotW: Seeing Spica being so happy to be protected by Claude was adorable. Seems to me like it will avoid the U19 club by a couple chapters.

AB: First page, 2nd panel, I have questions about Baba and his butt I didn't even know I had: Like how much SPACE is in that thing????? H.B. being a jealous OP god was fun, lol.

SxF: Another short mission about a certain elegant teacher, liked it. <3

I will admit, I was wrong about Ghost Writer. I for sure thought the reveal would be that her art wasn't yet on par and she would literally ghost write his soulless art due to being underage. What we did get...I wasn't really a fan of.

MHA was hype though and Chainsawman/JJK was great as always.

Look what I thought, Aino creates a new manga, and because of that White Knight ceases to exist in 2030, forcing Teppei to make the story good with its own merits.

Guardian is the biggest disappointment of Jump 2020 other than Zipman.

in chapter 2 it stated that the series is doing a alternate time rules with time travel. They aren’t doing the butterfly effect. So I don’t think this will effect the volumes coming from the microwave

Curious that Yuuna will not have a new volume released for the next two months, if it's ending in few weeks they would just release the last ones quickly or in the normal schedule.

Anyway, preview of issue #27 (hq)

Eh, the Quiz chapter wasn't really good so it is understandable. Plus I think people are giving up on it, no CP, no good rankings, no good sales, etc.
I thought the sales were pretty good for the series considering its ranking, and the fact that it got reprints. Idk why it hasn't gotten a CP tho.

Thanks for reminding me of that. I had forgotten, but now that you mention it, I think he said it was just his guess to how it works. Even if what you're saying is true, I still think if the Jump issues stop coming, it would create good internal conflict and help his character grow and develop. It would be kinda lame and boring if the chapters going forward is just copying future Jump issues and hiding it from the editorial. To see how he makes the manga into his own would be more interesting IMO. Either way could work if the writer handles it well, but just going on predictions, I prefer the route I mentioned.

I didn't see anyone commenting but the results of Haikyuu !! 's 8th Anniversary "Best Order" Popularity Poll will be revealed in next week's issue of Weekly Shonen Jump with a Color Page!

Kimetsu is already finished but we won't see the final volume until December soooooo....

And I really think there's not much argument with Yuuna now. While I know we like to joke about Neverland's promotion saying "climax" about 3-4 times, the use of the word pretty much always indicates a planned ending regardless of how long ahead that ending truly is. The current arc is also showing very explicit and obvious ending flags, resolving the stories of all the girls, bringing back every character and answering the mystery of Yuuna's past. And the series has had abysmal TOC placements, which tends to indicate Jump isn't that invested in keeping it around.

lmao seriously, toc placements? If this had any impact on Yuuna it would have ended like 2 years ago, toc never had meaning for Yuuna.

Also, my comment about the volumes is for the lack of release for 2 months, if the manga is already ending on volume 24, there's no reason to take 3 months to release 23
