The sad thing is no FT adaptation ever reached 100%.

2009 had the best animation for the most part but the art style was different and it had dumb small changes that derailed the plot to milk drama (that moment in the twin dragons fight in which the characters in the infirmary are trying to guess the tide of the battle by the cheers of the stadium is just so dumb. The same fight shows that transmission lacrimas exist and the manga even shows an image of them watching the fight via one of them like they should).

2014 had the correct art style but worse animation, most subdued colors and is guilty of giving the demon slayer ice that goofy-ass purple color to distinguish from the normal ice magic, like we are all dumb and cant tell them apart otherwise... in the manga the ice is the exact same color but if they really wanted to separate the 2 (I kinda understand although I dont agree), they could've used silver color, not only is the name of the character is also the material that works on monsters in various different stories.

2018 barf... never again, the fact that there's people who liked the final season only speaks about the potential a decent adaptation has to be successful.

At the end of the day it's also sad that if the adaptation is good, it will almost certainly copy Ueda's art and not Mashima's...

@Ronin31 @sharkai @MyaHeart35 Erza is not the hero of fairy tail. Only one hero and it's natsu. I don't know what fanfiction you guys are writing or reading but in the real fairy tail plotsu>>>>>>plotza

That´s facts!

& Erza vs Azuma was well animated
& Natsu vs Sting & Rogue

Fairy Tail 2009 Anime was the Golden day for Fairy Tail
i think the tartaros style animation was fitting for the arc.

I never said "Erza is the Hero". But one of the MC team. Just like Grey and Wendy.

We discovered Fairy Tail through Lucy's eyes, and she also is the narrative one.

The story turned around Natsu's and his fate (still in the Quest) but Lucy always saves him from himself like with the END Book and Fairy Sphere.

The real main character of Fairy Tail is Lucy. She has always been as she represents the reader : discovery of the Guild, Magic word, the bonds....
All are about her narrative sight.

All is not about power here : the main doesn't necesary have to be the strongest in the story, especially when the story is about "we are weak alone, but strong together".

But yes, I don't read the same Fairy Tail. We agree...

i beleive under certain circumstances natsu can perform at god levels
and erza can perform at >> df natsu level :leaving

but overall i see mishma not making natsu a god tier, and leaving rest of his team mates as fodder (at the moment atleast)

please be mappa. :celebrate @VG1989 very soon we will flex on space manga fans
Why? is there any need? I think they are aware of their situation.

Also about Anime studios.
A-1 Pictures, Bridge, CloverWorks were doing second and final season. I don't know specifics of which was in charge of animation (my guess is each studios animators were working together).
currently A-1 Pictures and CloverWorks had some great animes done, like Kaguya love is war, Spy x Family, Bocchi the Rock!, Magi, Black Butller and such.
Bridge did a Shaman king remake, I Don't know how well it's reception was.
Now I'm not gonna check if other studios were involved animating those Anime alongside mentioned studios (there probably were), but fact is those studios worked on good animated titles.
So I do agree with this
The important thing isn't the studio at all.
A good studio raises the probability of a good adaptation, a good adaptation however comes from the team giving a **** and having a decent budget/deadline (deadline sometimes is even more important). There's good adaptations from small studios and bad adaptations from big ones, If Mappa picks up FT100YQ but then doesn't give it any budget or talented animators because of focusing on another anime, I prefer they dont bother...
I do have a fear that what happening with Space manga might bleed into 100YQ (lacking marketing and almost indifferent treatment), Hope it is just because of manga rather than Hiro aka studios not caring for Hiros work in general not specific manga.

I think fairy tail is easy cash grab for Shounen magazine, I mean after all they wanted Hiro to be involved with the plot of the sequel. Fairy tail is still one of the biggest manga to come out of Shounen magazine. So I don't think they'll do a disservice

It was very obvious that this anime was going to bomb. Ez fans keep bitching about the marketing as if ez was popular

i have been seeing rumors that it is going to be mappa. IF it is mappa there is no need for doubt

We can never be certain, but I think EZ is different since it wasn't as popular as FT. FT100YQ on the other hand, is still part of a more profitable franchise (I'm not certain how is doing now but last time I'd heard anything it was outperforming EZ).

EZ is also Science Fiction no matter how much Mashima wants to tell you is Science Fantasy (in theory that's correct but the aesthetic of the manga isn't that different from regular Syfy), and that genre isn't that popular on average in Japan (samurai 8 tanked way harder than EZ ever did).

I like EZ but it was never able to have my appreciation on the same level that FT did, it still has details and characters that I like quite a lot.

FT deserves to have a good adaptation for once and I hope it gets it (low key would like if they tried to emulate Mashima's art, maybe is mean for Ueda but I don't think his art is on par. The only fear I would have with that is that it would be harder to translate panels probably).

Well I don't think it isn't possible just that it might be harder. In the end it probably depends on the team, the budget and how much they want to do that...

I don’t know that the art style of the first phase of the anime was a bad thing, the early manga has that weird Oda/ one piece knockoff style which I don’t personally care for at all. As Mashima started to develop his own style it got better and better, Tartarus to the end of the series I’d say he’s honestly one of, if not the best manga artists out there. Ueda has improved somewhat over the course of the 100YQ serialisation, but tbh the line work still isn’t a patch on Mashima’s, it seems a bit wobbly, while if you look at Edens Zero or late Fairy Tail, Mashima draws in really confident strokes, uses line thickness beautifully, the detail in some panels is unreal, and the character poses he uses almost leave them moving on the page.

There are many differences here:

1) EZ only had one distributor (Netflix) internationally and it doesn't seem to have done very well despite having an early dub. While FT has several distributors (Prime, Hulu, Netflix, HBO, Crunchyroll, Funimation, etc) and each one was in charge of dubbing it only for a few countries, for example FT (Netflix) only dubbed in "castellano" (Spanish Spain) years ago they even covered the 2 movies but until last year HBO launched the dubbing in "Español Latino" (Latin Spanish) for America and it only covers the first season, the thing is, several platforms fight to have the rights to FT even in the Currently, last year FT came out several times in the top 10 of the most watched series on Hulu Japan while FT was one of the most watched series of the year on HBO, with EZ, it does not seem that there is such interest

2) I don't have the statistics but apparently France is a great consumer of anime/manga series, and Mashima and FT are very popular there, it wouldn't be strange that Kodansha tries to exploit its market a little seeing that in Japan, EZ no longer has a future. Let's be honest, the fact that EZ continues on the air and in the main magazine is a whim of the managers since it belongs to Mashima, if FT had not been so popular, surely EZ would have passed to Bessatsu a long time ago or it would be a tankōbon as happened with Orient and Fumetsu no anata or would even already be canceled

3) As for YQ100, as soon as an anime trailer comes out, the sales will go up, there are many anime fans who don't even know that FT continues, it may not be able to replicate the success of past years but it is very likely that it will improve its sales maybe 80/90k per vol though if you go back to the main magazine sales are likely to get even better

4) The most important thing is the future of both series, EZ has already announced that it is in its final arc, I don't think it will last more than a year, while FT seems to have more and more stuff, I don't know if it's my impression but After Aldo, the series has done everything possible to extend the mission, in fact I remember that when the series was going through chapter 60 many theorized that by chapter 120/130 the series would already be in its final arc and look at us now, chapter 129 and the mission continues the same as 2 arcs ago and it doesn't seem like it's close to its end, it wouldn't be strange if after this alchemist arc there is more "filling" and we see the search for the Aquarius key instead of continuing with the main plot

Well I still think early FT art isn't OP levels of wonky, but that's just me. And about being knockoff style I find that difficult since Mashima's first oneshot was published only a few months after One-Piece and he would have to start training that art-style really quickly not to mention predict OP's success. The most probable is that both where influenced by Toriyama's art style.
I think early FT is already a lot different, early Rave Master is the one who is eerily similar.

Ignoring that I think that, even then, the art changes a lot, a lot sooner than Tartarus, by Tenroujima I see no resemblance at all (tenrou is were I think Mashima began his prime as an artist) and even earlier than that it improves a lot. If the anime used the art style from phantom or something like that (maybe from TOH), I think it wouldn't have any problem. Still my main gripes with FT 2009 is small changes that have a huge impact in characterization and feel of the story, it's still by far the best adaptation to date.

Ueda has some cool fighting scenes and panels but the quality of the art is really inconsistent and almost never Mashima level (and we are talking about specific panels not even chapters or sequences).

I meant the art style really peaks in style in the final couple of arcs (Tartaros-Alvarez). It was evolving right through the series and already looked a lot better as early as the Oracion Seis arc, but the style he was drawing in and the level of detail he was putting in really peaked at that time IMO. I’d say he was even better then than he is now with Edens Zero! Of course all this is subjective, but I preferred the anime art style to the earliest FT manga chapters. They did make a few bad decisions (making a way bigger fuss over Lisanna in the run up to the Edolas arc than was the case in the manga which fuelled that massive annoying ship war for one :notrust) but the other little details also really made it more special to me - the transitions, the narration, the magic circles, the OG soundtrack/ sound effects. It was a unique feel that I do miss a little in the sequel series. Yes a lot of that went away in the manga too, but it added to the anime in a greater way than it did the manga. It would be nice if the 100YQ anime could re-use the character models from the final OG series.

He should do it like Kishi.Just go back to your most well known series. Its not a big deal
When 100YQ finishes (I’m guessing not for quite a while yet) I’d definitely like to see something like a “Fairy Tail: S Class” follow on, slightly aged up characters focusing on harder S class missions, maybe open with a new S class exam arc that sees Natsu and/or Gray finally make the grade. Just please not a next generations series, I think that would wreck this franchise 🤢

Is she a Dragon Slayer ? He didn't even know her. As he has nothing to do with wizards, your sentence is ridiculous.
Cobra, as a Dragon Slayer, has better importance for Acnologia than Gildarts and August. Is Cobra more worthy than them ?

You're right, he is the King. But only with Unisson Raid (7 DS powers) and thanks to Fairy Sphere who paralyse Acnologia.
Without that, Acnologia was unbeatable.

But I have seen Erza crushing Acnologia (dragon form) down from the sky with her own blades.
What did Natsu do against his human form without external help as a Dragon Slayer ?

Yes, I continue to read my fanfiction....

Still don't understand why you continue to provoke me with Natsu and Erza. I like them both, but ok, keep going.

Irrelevant. All that did was knock him from the sky even Christina can achieve that feat. Hell igneel's tail could do that. Natsu was able to tank attacks from human acnologia
https://ibb.co/PDJsb4v . Natsu is king, while Erza is......🤭🤭
