Well Invel got his butt kicked by Gray, so Idk if he can stand up against END. He could probably give Gray a 'meal' though... let's call it the "Ice of Rebuke". That'd be helpful.
I thought exactly the same thing! Invel is using Gray until he drops. He doesn't want Empero Spriggan to die to to his own fierce loyalty towards the man, and so he's made Gray think that he's the one to defeat END so that the demon won't even get a chance to kill him. Though, the way Invel is acting makes me think that he believes that END wouldn't fail to kill Zeref
I have to agree, even though Invel got done in by Gray who was riding high off of the PoF, I don't think he'd be able to handle E.N.D. If Natsu can melt his ice, and E.N.D is even stronger than Natsu, then there's no real hope for Invel to defeat him at all.
I am so happy to read comments like this because the hype for Invel is pretty much dead. It's like he disappointed everyone because of the way he was beaten (and I could agree to some extent, his ice armor needed more spotlight) but in reality, this guy predicted everything and as you said he did brainwash Gray with few words.
I wasn't even mad at how he got beat, he's kinda a glass cannon like Neinhart but everything else makes up for it in design, personality, magic, and his vibe unlike Neinhart (I just find his magic dope). Gray beat him with PoF after he saw and thought Juvia died. Not really hung up that, plus he was never gonna win cause Mavis was fading to back cause of his Ice Slave. But him causing END and Gray to fight was dope. Sure, the fight is forced but it was gonna happen sooner than later. I just like how he made all this happen, which makes Gray out into a puppet even more. I like that manipulative side. All the 12s have varying personalities mixed in with some arrogance being that no one has ever challenged them like Ishgar but Invel stands out to me when I thought he was the regular boring Zeref's sidekick at first. I respect him alot, whenever the anime comes back looking forward to seeing dude.
Yeah and also the fact that Mashima finally showed us the difference between Ice Make and Pure Ice Magic, it was refreshing! Being the emissary of Alvarez I didn't expect him to reveal such precious informations about END but not only it made sense plot wise, it was a good move to stop the "Zeref senpai notice me" of the beginning
I also hope so! Invel is still my favorite Spriggan so far, especially for his design and character. I have this scenario on my mind when Zeref is on battle with FT, Invel suddenly interrupts trying to help his emperor despite his bad condition XDI really hope there's more in store for him
When chapter "the White Dragneel" came out as a spoiler, I got the feeling it was Invel... and I thought something like him being an orphan adpted by Zeref, but then...
