Well regarding the discussion.Dimaria was surprised that someone was able to move inside Age Seal and then she added "You are telling me his power surpasses that of Gods".And the only God that is connected with Dimaria is Chronos.

----

Now why did Dimaria say that his power surpasses that of gods after seeing him move inside Age Seal.So it's natural to say surpassing Gods(Chronos) is one of the ways to resist Age Seal.
As I said she was referring to him to be able to surpass power of gods ( AS ) and move Freely in AS nothing for me shows that Dimaria use Chronos in that fight ( unless we will get flashback which I doubt ) and him resisting it because his END he was designed to surpass the powers of Gods from Mildean in order to bypass curse that Zeref have..

For me, she only meant here AS not Chronos TO ( but it's all and the same in the end :P )
And as I said I can't prove my point and you can't prove I'm wrong until we will see flashback that Chronos TO was involved in that fight for me not ( Dimaria words can be interpreted both ways and how the Room looks like after fight shows that she never use Chronos for me )

I do agree with this after not at first. Dimaria was more speaking in hyperbole than reality. It's deff possible she went Chronos but we shouldn't forget that Chronos was the one that taught her Age Seal, a magic of the God of Time. Her words made it seem like she was just talking of Age Seal moreso God Soul: Chronos.

Dimaria specifically said that it could only be END. I seriously doubt that what Dimaria was flashback to was just Natsu transforming, otherwise that would be what was shown, not a hand poised to attack.

Natsu's rage at Dimaria taking out Lucy had to be the trigger for the END transformation because its the only way he could break free of his magic binding cuffs.

Lets also not forget the effect Lucy has on Natsu, seeing her instantly turns Natsu back to normal, which is probably what happened after he fought Dimaria. Realising that she was dead is probably what turned him back into END

I think by power beyond gods she meant beyond Chronos, who is probably above Ikusatsunagi.

Natsu's face isnt always different
We really don't know what happened there.Dimaria specifically mentioned END and seeing that frontal portion was burned i assume it was this was done after this scene as Natsu came from the back to save Lucy. And also Dimaria's flashback has Black Flame Curses.

And i seriously doubt Base Natsu can stop Age Seal.

Dimaria said she saw a demon like END. Which was why she was shaking and trembling simply by looking at Natsu. She never said that the person that hit her could only be END.

To me, it looks like she was holding up her hands in fear. She was already badly beaten by that point.

I don't think Natsu has to turn END to break the magical cuffs. From what we've seen in the recent arc, Natsu is so strong at this point that he can probably break out of it with his raw power, just like how he looked ready to do that when Goumon was about to execute Lucy in Avatar.

And Natsu only turned back to normal when he saw Lucy alive.

If Natsu sees Lucy dead, it's not going to be the same. That is actually precisely what made Natsu turn END in the first place.

Mashima stressed both of these points in the panel that you posted. Natsu eyes turn completely white. That is the signal of Natsu's transformation into END.

Why would Mashima even bother drawing the solid white eyes in the first place?

The only reason why he would do that is to show Natsu transforming into END.

As for Natsu's face, that's only 1 characteristic of END.

As I pointed out in my previous post, the most important part is that there is also a large difference in Natsu's attitude and END's attitude. You can tell when it is Natsu talking and when it is END talking.

In the panel with Dimaria and Lucy, Natsu was worried about Lucy like he normally does. He was expressing emotions like he always does towards Lucy.

When Natsu is END, he becomes a psycho who only cares about reuniting with Zeref. This is shown when he completely lost control while fighting Gray.

@natsulucy

Well, Mashima drew the panel of Natsu transforming into END for a reason (Natsu's eyes turning white). He pretty much stressed the part where Natsu thought he saw Lucy die to show the fans the transformation into END.

And I don't see why Natsu can't break Age Seal.

The fans assumed it was END who passed through Age Seal when that scene first took place. But the fans were actually wrong.

It wasn't until 1 or 2 chapters later, when Mashima purposely created a flashback to show what actually happened. Which makes sense according to the panels.

I doubt she used Chronos considering the fact it creates a huge explosion the area. She probably didn't have the chance to do that.

But she could somehow sense that END surpasses the gods. And considering the fact that she used this statement after saying END could move in Age Seal it is an indicator for resisting Age Seal.

Dimaria said she saw a demon like END. Which was why she was shaking and trembling simply by looking at Natsu. She never said that the person that hit her could only be END.

Well as i said earlier Natsu came from behind and there is no injury on Dimaria's backside(we didn't see her backside). So it might have happened after hugging Lucy Natsu gained the power of END.As Dimaria herself was taken by surprise after being attacked from behind she activated Age Seal but END was immune from it and one shotted Dimaria and her frontal portion burnt. And we had seen in chapter 502 Natsu's flames were going out so it may be that his END power was present subconsciously.

To me, looking at the panel, it looks like Dimaria was actually hit from the right side (and possibly the back), since you can see her skin exposed on the right side of her body where the clothes are burned/torn:

There is smoke surrounding her body, but no black flames.

As for when it happened, Dimaria was oneshotted when she was squatting in front of Lucy, ready to stab her eye out. Which was why you could see the broken pieces of the chair that Lucy was sitting on, scattered all around the floor, as well as a panel of Lucy's face bleeding.

But Age Seal happened way before that... So Natsu had to have passed through Age Seal to prevent Dimaria from killing Lucy:

Basically, Age Seal was activated the moment she clicked her teeth. From that point onwards, Dimaria "teleported via Age Seal" to Lucy and was about to stab her eye out.

But that's when Natsu saved her, transformed into END, and left.

No, Dimaria said it could only have been END, im not gonna doubt her word because of the point you made when i can so easily explain that point away.

We can also quite clearly see in the flashback the black flames of END in the hand of Natsu, poised to strike.

Of course he has to turn END, there is no other way to break the cuffs, otherwise Erza would have easily broken out in Tartaros, or Brandish or Natsu. Without magic wizards are just regular humans.

No, Natsu didnt know that Lucy was dead until he ran over to her and picked her up, he thought she was still alive, so seeing her would still doubtlessly turn him human.

Sure, the eyes were a signal of Natsu turning back into END, cause we already know he was END before because he broke the magic sealing cuffs.

No matter what change END has on Natsu's attitude, he will always treat Lucy the same way, obsession with Zeref or not, Lucy is still leagues more important to him. So no, Natsu acting normal while holding Lucy doesnt mean he wasnt END, because even as END he loves her and would always worry about her

Dimaria never said that only END could have passed through her Age Seal. When Dimaria said it could only have been END, she was referring to the power that she felt when he transformed. In other words, she was terrified of END at the mere sight of it.

And I highly doubt Dimaria would still be alive if she actually took a hit from END...

We are talking about potentially one of the greatest villains in FT besides Acnologia. Gray even had major difficulty taking on END, and he's an experienced Ice Devil Slayer who trained for 1 whole year with that purpose in mind.

It makes a lot more sense that Natsu transformed into END for the first time when his eyes turned white. That was the significance of Mashima illustrating that panel.

Of course he has to turn END, there is no other way to break the cuffs, otherwise Erza would have easily broken out in Tartaros, or Brandish or Natsu. Without magic wizards are just regular humans.

Again, in this current timeskip/arc, Natsu has grown far stronger than most characters around him. That was why he looked ready to save Lucy during the Avatar infiltration mission when she was about to be executed.

No, Natsu didnt know that Lucy was dead until he ran over to her and picked her up, he thought she was still alive, so seeing her would still doubtlessly turn him human.

It doesn't work that way. Natsu can't control his mind at will when he is under END's possession. It's not like he turned into END, went back to normal to quickly check on Lucy to see if she is still alive, then transform back into END...

The moment he turns into END, he loses his mind, becomes psycho, and wants to only reunite with Zeref.

So far, Natsu doesn't have the capability to transform into END/revert back to normal at will.

It took a lot for Natsu to turn back to normal... First, Makarov had to sacrifice himself so that Natsu could feel his energy in Fairy Law. Second, Erza had to physically block his attack and shed tears while giving him a lecture on nakama. Finally, he saw Lucy alive.

It's not like Natsu decided to quickly turn back to normal to see if a bloody Lucy is still breathing.

END will cause him to lose complete control of himself immediately.

Gray is also important to Natsu... They are practically brothers and comrades in battle.

Yet, "END" didn't consider turning back to normal to worry/talk to Gray. Instead, END threatened Gray and demanded him to get lost... Clearly, END isn't going to turn back to normal just for a friend's sake. It takes a lot more than that.

A bloody Lucy looking dead on the floor is not gonna make Natsu any calmer (aka turn back to normal). It's going to push his emotions in the exact opposite direction.

Whether or not Natsu went into END mode is largely irrelevant in Igneel vs. Irene, Brandish, and Chronos. Either way, Igneel was stronger than any version of Natsu/END. I see the discussion has evolved beyond the battle thread, so I've taken the initiative to move this discussion to the Natsu/END thread.

My two cents on the subject: I see Natsu's ability to use END dependant on his emotional state. The more negative feelings he feels, the stronger his curses are. It's possible that Natsu used END's power against Dimaria when he thought she was going to kill Lucy, calmed down when he approached Lucy, and then went into a full rage when he thought she was dead. Then again, it's also possible that he simply brute forced his way out of the chair and knocked Dimaria on the head, saw Lucy, and then went into END.

The emotional state does play a large role in terms of Natsu transforming into END, but it isn't as simple as a regular transforming mechanism.

END was sealed by the book, but Zeref shot a hole in it, which weakened the seal.

Unlike DF and Demonizing where the user has a certain degree of control, the transformation into END is currently semi-locked. There has to be a sudden trigger, but once you exceed the threshold, there's no return unless you have another counter-trigger that balances the state.

In other words, to put it more simply, Natsu was able to half-awaken END because his emotional stability was going haywire.

But at that point, he loses control of himself and the demon takes over his mind. Fortunately, a series of events (Makarov, Erza, and "seeing Lucy alive") was able to revert the transformation.

But it's not like Natsu enters END for a split second to oneshot Dimaria, then go back to normal to check on Lucy, and then rage and become END again.

That would defeat the purpose of END causing Natsu to lose complete control of himself and ignore the significance of the physical transformation Natsu experienced after seeing Lucy "dead" (white-eyes panel).

Good decision:super.I also agree with that.

@Nemispelled if really Natsu attacked from behind then her frontal armour would not have been destroyed.

Well, Natsu had to have attacked Dimaria from behind because it was an unexpected move from Dimaria's point of view. Plus, there was no time for Natsu to approach and attack Dimaria from the front.

Dimaria was a split-second away from stabbing Lucy's eyes out, so it would make the most sense for him to take the fastest path to save Lucy, which would be coming from behind.

Going off of Dimaria's injures and burned clothing, she was actually most likely hit from the right side of her body:

The most likely scenario in this case is that Natsu approached Dimaria from behind, but hit her with a "right jab" to her side, which sent her flying to the wall on the opposite end of the room.

That would explain how he got there so fast, why there is skin exposed on only the right side of Dimaria's body, and why Dimaria was sent crashing into the wall.

Yeah i agree with that may be.But seeing her right foot burnt,if it was only jab,it would not have been possible. And also Dimaria's flashback mentions "Black Flame Curses" so it's natural that Partial END defeated her.

Well, the right jab probably consisted of a large flaming fist which resulted in an explosion when coming into contact with Dimaria's right side.

But I do acknowledge that it's off-paneled, so that's only my interpretation and what I think would make the most sense in that situation.

Whether it is Natsu or END, getting hit from that "point-blank range" would likely burn most of her clothing anyways.

What on earth are you on about? She was reffering to his transformation? Where in the world did you get that idea? Nothing at all even implies she saw END's transformation.
When Dimaria told Lucy about END moving through timestop she specifically stated that only END could be capable of such feats, she doesnt say anything about END transforming
Why wouldnt she be alive? Gray took hits from END, Erza blocked a hit from END, surviving an attack from him is nothing exceptional.

If END had fully transformed into a demon, rather than being just up to his elbows i'd agree, but Natsu's conversation with Igneel makes it perfectly clear END has a long way to go before he reaches the level we expected him to be at.

No, it makes a lot more sense that Natsu transformed into END the moment he saw Dimaria try and kill Lucy, thats what Mashima portrayed when he had Dimaria brutally scorched and cowering in fear. Plus magic binding cuffs cant be broken by a wizard.

Natsu is stronger, but magically stronger, without magic he is still as weak as any other human. If Natsu could have broken his cuffs he would have done it in Avatar, you realize that axe was inches away from Lucy's mid section right? Natsu was sweating in fear, calling out Lucy's name and desperately struggling to get out of those cuffs, yet even so they didnt give way at all.

No, thats exactly how it went down, did you not see what happened the moment Natsu set eyes on Lucy? Instantly humanized, and thats just watching a healthy Lucy run at him, imagine what would happen if he was actually worried about her safety. This is because END's "possesion" of Natsu is significantly weaker than Natsu's feelings for Lucy. To the point where the two cant even be compared, if Natsu was worried about Lucy he would definitely drop everything to check on her, even if he was seconds away from killing Zeref himself, Lucy takes priority.

No offense to Gray, but Lucy is in another league, and Gray was the one initiating the fight, all Natsu really wanted was for Gray to get out of his way. Even if this was just a normal, human, pissed off Natsu, he wouldnt back down from a fight Gray started.

Worry over Lucy's safety>>>>>Anger over anything anybody did, so yeah, it would turn him back to normal

@Nemispelled one thing i remember. You said Dimaria activated Age Seal while stabbing Lucy. But that is impossible because of the fact that Lucy could see the knife approaching her.So Natsu attacking from behind is not impossible.

Well, I pretty much disagree with this entire post. But of course, you have your own opinions, so I'll respect that. I wouldn't mind responding to what you said above, but I don't want to waste your time by repeating the same thing I said in my last post.

Pretty much, I can't find a way to say it any different than what I've already said before, and it would be pointless to make another identical post that you clearly disagree with, so I'll give you the last words if you so wish.

@natsulucy

I said that Dimaria activated Age Seal before she squatted in front of Lucy and was about to stab her eye out. Time was stopped when Dimaria clicked her teeth, which was the point at which Age Seal was activated:

Lucy could still see the knife incoming because it seems that Dimaria can control who is affected by Age Seal and who is not when she casts it.

Everybody in that vicinity should have been frozen in time by Age Seal except Dimaria and Lucy. Dimaria did this on purpose to make Lucy suffer and to give herself pleasure.

So it would make the most sense that Natsu was able to attack Dimaria from behind since he could pass through Age Seal.

Well Dimaria hasn't shown the ability to keep any person unaffected by Age Seal till now.

And she used Age Seal to jump on the lap of Lucy.So it is clear that she wasn 't using Age Seal at that point of time.

Well then, I guess we just disagree. I don't have any way of proving that Age Seal was still in effect or not.

I was under the impression that time is frozen when Dimaria casts Age Seal which would be her clicking her teeth. And unless Mashima gives the readers some hint that Dimaria has returned time back to its normal flow, then time is still stopped.

But there's no way of telling if that is true or not through the manga pages alone, so I guess I'll give you the last words if you so wish.

If you look closely whenever Dimaria activated her Age Seal Lucy couldn't see what she was doing. But when she stopped it Lucy could then see what she had done. That is why Lucy says is she using teleportation. So naturally Lucy was under Age Seal.

I'd like to see Natsu get a proper beat down now. Lately he's become very overconfident in his abilities, and a good lesson in humility is in order. Hopefully August kicks his ass.
