Re: Fairy Tail 462 Spoiler Thread

Of course we're talking about fully mastered dragon force when we're talking about it being the strongest power-up in this series. Low-level dragon force, like Wendy's isn't anything special. Even Sting and Rogue's dragon force wasn't anything special. But what about Acnologia's dragon force? We've seen teasers from the movie that implies that the half dragonized Natsu is Natsu's current dragon force. If that's true, then Acnologia's dragon force is the very thing that turns him into a dragon. END was only designed to kill Zeref, and there is really no evidence that it would be stronger than Natsu's fully mastered dragon force.

Then the same must be said for Erza (always portrayed as Natsu's superior), Jellal, Jura, Gildarts, and the such. There's no reason that it's just Gray that gets to ride along the "same as Natsu boat".
My point was that nobody has reached the full power of Dragon Force yet so we don't really know anything about it at this point. Its like what you said. We haven't seen Gray defeat Bluenote or a god; therefore, we cannot infer that Natsu will ever reach full Dragon Force as well as the other characters. This whole argument is based off of the current timeline, Chapter 462. Lets don't make inferences on what happens in Chapter 500 if it ever does get there. As of now, Gray is not portrayed to be inferior to Natsu. That's all I was trying to say. We just have to wait and see.

Yes, Erza, Jellal, Jura, Gildarts, and other characters like Laxus have always been put higher than Natsu in terms of power. I never said they aren't but I would think Gray can match them too. You think Gray is weaker than all those mentioned? The only one that is an exception is Gildarts. Otherwise, I can see Ice Devil Slayer Gray being on par with Erza, Laxus, Jura, and maybe Jellal.

Same goes for Gajeel. Everybody keeps saying that Gajeel has Dragon Force right now. Since when has Hiro Mashima released this? Lets don't make conclusions off of our own opinions. I am not saying Gajeel will never attain Dragon Force but at the same time it is not wise to make such observations. For all we know, Hiro Mashima may decide to never make Dragon Force Gajeel. Reason? We don't know.

Re: Fairy Tail 462 Spoiler Thread

I don't think Gajeel has Dragon Force. From what we've seen so far, Dragon Force has only been obtainable through eating a lot of power (Natsu's cases being Ethernano in Lacrima at the ToH and eating all of Jellal's magic in his fight with Zero. He later willed it to activate when he fought Mard Geer. Wendy received her Dragon Force by eating Ethernano in the air in her fight against Ezel, and as shown in Avatar, she can now will it to activate. This leads me to believe that Dragon Slayers need to receive a somewhat great deal of power for them to activate their Dragon Force (a bit like reactions in Chemistry, which require energy to occur). When they get this energy, they can then use it. Gajeel hasn't eaten a source of power that would provide him with the ability to use Dragon Force, therefore I don't believe he can use it.

Continuing on the point of Dragon Force, its been stated in the manga a few times that Dragon Force is the strongest power in the world; nothing can surpass it, and that its the power of a Dragon. From what we've seen in the manga, the Dragons are the strongest beings we've had. Therefore, something that is the power of a Dragon, i.e Dragon Force, should also be extremely powerful. We haven't really seen Dragon Force at its full potential yet imo. We've had some powerful versions of it, like Natsu when he attacked Mard Geer with it in Tartarus, but I think the true power of Dragon Force is still yet to be seen in the slayers. I would say Acnologia's Dragon Form is his final version of Dragon Force, and going off that, thats crazy powerful. So I'd say Dragon Force being one of the strongest powers in the manga is accurate.
It is not as simple as Chemistry when talking about Dragon Force. Again, you have to specify which generation of Dragon Slayers you are talking about. If all of them could attain Dragon Force by just eating a large amount of power, why doesn't Gajeel just go find some Ethernano and eat all of it or all of Jellal's magic. Maybe not the Fire of Rebuke because he can't eat fire but some sort of element similar to his. Laxus and Cobra are also different. It has not been released whether they can reach Dragon Force or not. Like I said, the power of Dragon Force is really hard to measure due to its different levels.

Everyone keeps using Acnologia as an example but what I've been trying to get at is that its not as simple as achieving full power with Dragon Force. First of all, Acnologia is one of a kind and we barely have any information on his past or how he was able to get that powerful. His Dragon Form may well be Dragon Force plus another factor that helped him achieve maximum potential. Second of all, if it were that simple, everyone can hype and say that all Dragon Slayers will reach full power of Dragon Force. Therefore, Acnologia, Natsu, Gajeel, Wendy, Sting, Rogue, Laxus, and Cobra >>>>>> Gildarts, TWS, Zeref, all of Fairy Tail. Is it really that easy? No.

Re: Fairy Tail 462 Spoiler Thread

It wasn't that Bacchus was on her level, but rather thats he's just a pain to fight because his movements are unpredictable, especially when drunk. You can't beat an opponent if you can't hit them, therefore Erza struggles against Bacchus, but not because he's stronger than her, but rather because she can rarely land a hit on him. Bacchus losing to Elfman wasn't comedy either, and I fail to see how Sting one-shotting him so seriously in the fashion he did as comedy either. Its pretty clear that Bacchus simply isn't anywhere near Erza anymore. He could've been in the past, but he's not anymore.

Gajeel can also get DF it is because Dragon Slayers have the highest form of Dragon Slayer Magic. It is because the Dragons were inside them.

To keep in line with the chemistry analogy it seemed to me that the dragons being inside the slayers meant that they needed MP to overcome that to use dragon force. Now that the dragons are gone, there is a lower requirement of an activation energy to use dragon force. This is how it seemed to me. Not ruling out that it is in fact as you say it is.

Re: Fairy Tail 462 Spoiler Thread

A full powered dragon force should make the dragon slayer as strong as the dragon its magic is based off. Natsu would inherit Igneel's power, Gajeel would inherit Metallicana's power, Wendy would Grandeeney's, and so forth. Due to the fact that the dragons have somewhat limited their ability to dragonize, this ability should be limited. From the movie promo, we can see Natsu half dragonized. Assuming that's his full power, Natsu's should be at half of Igneel's power. Acnologia is a special case, because it seemed like he gained a lot of power from killing a bunch of dragons and/or stealing their souls. If that's true, then his power is basically a fusion of a bunch of dragon's power. It's probably impossible to achieve this level of power naturally. Igneel-level is probably the maximum potential for dragon force.

---------- Post added at 02:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:26 AM ----------

It could be that the dragons were actually limiting Natsu, Gajeel, and Wendy's ability to use dragon force. After all, they seem to be opposed to them dragonize. So whilst they were inside their dragon slayers, they had the power to prevent them from using dragon force. When the dragons slayers ate a power-source, the dragons can't suppress the extra-power. The extra power puts them into dragon force. Skiadrum and Vicelogia obviously shared a difference in opinion with Igneel, and so they allowed Sting and Rogue to access their dragon force.

---------- Post added at 02:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:36 AM ----------

Thing is, I don't think Natsu will even use dragon force in the manga until the movie comes out, which is about a year from now. By that time, we might be dealing with Acnologia. Now I don't think Natsu is going to be oneshotting any Spriggans, but I can definitely see some of his Flame Dragon King spells being able to take one out. Especially if you consider that nakagami starlight and jupiter cannon was able to temporarily incapacitate Ajeel. So I don't think Natsu will be using DF against the Spriggans. The others might use dragon force against the Spriggans. Gajeel might have unlocked it, though this is speculative. Gajeel is one of the stronger dragon slayers, and he's one of the 5. It would be somewhat underwhelming if he's the only one that never has it. Wendy would certainly use it. Sting and Rogue should as well.

Sting and Rogue didn't have true DF it was because of their lacrimas. Now They can get DF naturally like Dragon Slayers.

When Natsu entered Dragon Force in his fight against Mard Geer, Mard specifically stated that it was Dragon Force, adding that Natsu's was the power inherited directly from Igneel. This pretty much states that the only way to even have a chance of achieving Dragon Force is to be taught by a Dragon. This rules out Cobra and Laxus getting it.

As for Gajeel getting it, again it takes a lot of power to activate Dragon Force, as has been shown with Natsu and Wendy. Seeing as you're a stickler for generations, I'll explain the activation of Dragon Force using Thermodynamic Principles from Chemistry.

In Chemistry, energy is required for reactions to occur, and that energy that is required is called the activation energy. When that energy is met, the reaction will take place. Simple. Now, look at the Gen 1 Dragon Slayers. Natsu and Wendy have had to obtain magic power for them to be able to use Dragon Force. Them eating that magic power was them meeting the activation energy for Dragon Force to activate. Now that the energy has been met, the reaction occurs and they can now use Dragon Force. They are now in a state which allows them to will it, although it may not be easy at first and chemistry doesn't apply to them getting better at willing Dragon Force.
For the 3rd Gen Dragon Slayers, they seemingly activated their Dragon Force easier than the 1st Gen Slayers, and this can be explained again through Thermodynamics. As just stated, energy is required for a reaction to take place. The energy required for the energy to take place, however, can be lowered via use of a catalyst. The 3rd Generation Slayers have a substitute for the power they need to activate Dragon Force, and this substitute also acts as a catalyst lowering the energy (magic) they need to use Dragon Force. Their catalyst is their Dragon Lacrima. It provides them with an alternate power source, and eases the amount of magic required for Dragon Force to activate. Its basically a substitute for eating a huge amount of magic power to achieve Dragon Force if you catch my drift.

Dragon slayer magic is taught by dragons, with dragon force likely being the pinnacle. 2nd generation slayers have the lacrima so they can use dragon slayer magic. Unless the dragons taught something that the lacrima could not, there is no reason why Laxus or Cobra could not use DF.

Here's the facts:
- Natsu and Wendy had MP input to use DF for the first time
- After the dragons left their bodies they could use DF on their own.

You're saying that to use DF Natsu and Wendy first of all had to acquire MP. Then after that they have the potential to use DF, so Gajeel cannot.

I say that now the dragons have left the body the power required to use dragon force is not as substantial, and thus they can use it at will.

Based on the 2 events I listed, there is no way to rule out my stance or yours. It comes down to how you interpret the events. You draw on chemistry principles which is fine, and those principles can actually support my view, that is no dragons in their bodies reduces the activation energy.

That is exactly my point. If obtaining a high powered energy source lets you activate Dragon Force easier, why doesn't Gajeel, the only Dragon Slayer without Dragon Force, throw himself in front of the Jupiter Cannon and absorb its Ethernano? It would prove to be more effective than using it on a bunch of useless ships or Ajeel himself. However, it doesn't happen like that, meaning there has to be some reason why Gajeel does not have it right now unless Hiro Mashima shows it in the upcoming chapters. About Laxus and Cobra, I've been trying to tell everybody that they can't achieve Dragon Force. I actually agree with your statement.

I do struggle with the chemistry analogy that an activation energy is required to use DF initially, and then after that they can use it all the time. If it were like chemistry, Natsu and Wendy would still need to hit the MP requirement for DF wouldn't they? Unless they are strong enough now of course. But Gajeel should be stronger than Wendy.

Re: Fairy Tail 462 Spoiler Thread

I think it's pretty obvious that Gajeel has dragon force. It's an ability that is naturally attainable by a dragon slayer (especially the first gen). After the dragons left the bodies of their slayers, Natsu and Wendy have both shown the ability to use Dragon force at will. During tartaros arc, by the time the dragons left, the only DS that fought was Natsu, hence why he used his. After the TS, we've seen Wendy use it readily. Gajeel hasn't had an opponent that even required him to use his dual element of fight seriously since then. When he does meet such an opponent, I'm quite certain he would use DF.

Well such high energy was probably needed because the dragons were within them. Since they left, we've seen Natsu and Wendy use DF without needing external stimuli. And frankly, if Wendy can do, then Gajeel surely can. Also, throwing himself in front of Jupiter would be reckless. Gajeel hasn't been showing using it (prior) because in the times when he had an opponent that would've warranted it, he didn't have any external stimuli available to help activate it. Also, Mashima kept DF peculiar to Natsu for majority of the story.
As for Cobra and Laxus, that's pretty baseless tbh. We haven't seen them use DF but that isn't an indication of whether they can or cannot. We haven't seen them try either.

Re: Fairy Tail 462 Spoiler Thread

How about I bring in a basic shounen rule here? Mashima is making us wait for the perfect moment in order to see Gajeel's DF.
Tbh, the Thermodynamics example @SirSamuel016 provided makes the DF rule totally relatable to that principle.
My opinion on why 2nd Gen can't use DF/Why 1st can?/Why 3rd gen are so weak despite having it? comes along the same line.

There might be two things influencing DF.

1) Dragons in the Slayer's bodies The first and the third gen DS had dragons in their body. As per the information given by Zirconis, using DS magic at a large scale turns a DS into a dragon. So, the dragons int the 1st/3rd Gen bodies were acting like limiters. There is no "otherwise" in this case because during the process of creation of antibodies, the dragons had into ensure that DS did not exert too much powers or else, they'd end up turning into dragons while the process was still incomplete.

And in order to cross this boundary line, Natsu and Wendy used external sources to use DF. Gajeel, on the other hand hasn't done this. As for Sting and Rogue, they weren't trained enough. Even Natsu claimed their strength to be "half assed". In their present state, they are technically 2nd gen DS tutored by a dragon (since the dragons have been released but they still have the lacrima inside them). Their learning is comparable to what Wendy learned because chronologically, they are of the same age. (Natsu and Gajeel, obviously have been trained in a better way.) They were brought up like spoiled kids in Sabertooth, with the guild entirely depending on their inhuman magical strength. As for the self training, they seemingly had no motivation because their rivals remained dead for 7 years. Natsu is the only exception (excluding 2nd gen) of being strong in this age because Gajeel did not suffer from motion sickness pre tenrou, remember? Talking about Sting and Rogue, it is the lacrima which influences motion sickness (like Laxus).

Coming to 2nd gen, they do not have antibodies inside them. Their possibilities of turning into dragons is hence, not ruled out. They have shown the signs too (like Laxus having scales/jaws and Cobra having claws). Laxus and Cobra became strong through training, that is why they are exceptional. Even Cobra hasn't been defeated in a serious fight (excluding OC vs Jellal, he killed Zero in one hit before that). Bring the 3rd gen in this case too, and you'll realize that the twin dragons solely lack raw strength (Natsu and Gajeel easily took them down in their base forms). That is why they are weak. Their DF is also not same as 1st gen because, they had limiters (dragons). Future Rogue, on the other hand trained well enough to fight toe to toe with Natsu and the latter won through Atlas Flames' help. Anyhow, he was outclased. This explains the power gap.

2) Triggering DF by consuming ethernano Like Natsu and Wendy did. Gajeel remains an exception. A question that makes me wonder is what would happen if Sting and Rogue consumed ethernano? Would they become stronger and trigger an unrealistic transformation? Perhaps, Gajeel, atm requires a trigger too. Then, perhaps he can use it at will.

I will predict 2nd gen's feats after Laxus gets a serious fight in the war.

Second Generation don't have DF .They have to eat their respective elements like Cobra ate Kinana/Cuebellios Poison. If they had been able to do that We would have seen it by now.

Dragon Slayers don't have to use dragon force all the time.

I don't think I quite understand what your point is here. All I know is that if having a dragon inside you limits your power to activate Dragon Force, shouldn't it be easier for Laxus and Cobra to also achieve it? But Natsu and Wendy reached DF while Laxus and Cobra still haven't activated it yet. Again, the only other factor may well be the reason is what I've been trying to say. Laxus and Cobra are 2nd Generation Dragon Slayers; therefore, they can't go Dragon Force due to not inheriting the power of a DS through the genes of a real Dragon.

Natsu and Gajeel, obviously have been trained in a better way. They were brought up like spoiled kids in Sabertooth, with the guild entirely depending on their inhuman magical strength.
I wouldn't consider Sting and Rogue to be technically 2nd generation Dragon Slayers because Having a dragon inside you is not the criteria for classifying a generation of Dragon Slayers. Sting and Rogue were still trained by a dragon so they are technically still 3rd generation Dragon Slayers.

Consuming Ethernano is only for activating Dragon Force. Once you are able to go Dragon Force, then I don't believe it has any effect on how strong of a Dragon Slayer you get to be.

^ 2nd gen DS might not have the ability to use DF. But nothing rules out the possibility of them turning into dragons. That was my point. Using DF and transforming into dragons are two different things. The way they are with scales and claws presently, it can be noticed that they will transform into dragons at some point (They don't have antibodies and regardless of this, they are still using DS magic which can turn one into a dragon).

Sting and Rogue, in their present state are technically 2nd gen (having lacrima) tutored by their respective dragons. You're right, having a dragon inside is not a criteria (I messed up a bit, I was trying to comapre them to Natsu, Gajeel and Wendy).

What I said didn't mean that consuming ethernano would make a DS strong, what I only wanted say was its consumption can have a triggering effect, thereby allowing a DS to use DF at will. If it was about Sting and Rogue in that point, I was just wondering what effect it would have on them at that point of time.

I completely agree that DF and turning into Dragons are different. I don't see why people were comparing DF to becoming a Dragon in the first place. I admit that I have no solid evidence that 2nd generation Dragon Slayers cannot go DF but at the same time, judging from Mard Geer's words, it makes it highly unlikely that achieve it.

Oh, now I see what you're talking about. My bad, I misunderstood but yeah I agree with that point.
