Or probably the wounds that Dimaria infict on her enemies don't effect them until Age Seal is dispersed. So all the wounds that were given comes at the same time.

Here are my official thoughts/impressions of the Spriggans as of Chapter 516/517:

First off, as I've been saying for a while now... as a collective group, they have gotta be one of the most overrated villains in Fairy Tail. They are nothing more than "regular enemies" that FT have faced in the past, since they have not lived up to their hype.

I would even go as far as to say that almost all the other villain groups in FT have surpassed the Spriggans in terms of their overall "threat-level".

Oracion Seis, Grimoire Heart, and Tartaros were all more formidable than the Spriggans in my eyes.

These are the list of Spriggans that I actually like and are the respectable group that stands apart from their underwhelming peers, in my opinion:

August
Dimaria
Bloodman
Wahl
Invel

*These Spriggans are what I considered to be "high threat-level" for FT in the current arc, especially August. Even if they weren't much of a challenge, at least they showed potential and added some sort of suspense to the plot (even if it is only a little).

Pretty much all the other Spriggans that were not named here have extremely disappointed me.

Natsu could definitely not one shot any of of element four or pretty much anyone after that. Like he can one shot springgan now.
That is somethin to remember

I didn't find wahl a threat. He kinda felt weak for not being able to defeat anyone. Ajeel felt more of a threat
Serena too
And nienhart shadow :)

Not august. He got seekh kebab by a butter knife

same.

Bloodman
Wall
Invel

they were the threats. Ice Lock, Ice Slave, MBP, Weakness which countered anyone in Hargeon, stomping Jellal+CS, Age Seal.

enough said.

Spriggans like Ajeel who cannot even beat Elfman and Lisanna, Brandish who is not even an enemy, Irene who is getting rag dolled by Wendy and Erza, Jacob and Neinhart who are trash and Larcarde got owned by Sting are meh.

I do agree with the above, however eventhough the remaining Spriggans were disappointing, they were still pretty deadly and fearsome.

I genuinely believe Brandish could have been a threat, as i think she's equal to Dimaria in terms of actual hax.
God Serena could, and should have been a pain to deal with imo, if not for Acno.
Jacob's character is lame since he can not fight a woman without closing his eyes. But just give him a chance to cast Transport and he's deadly.
Neinhart is trash in terms of physicals, but if chilling in the back creating Historias, he's pretty good in his own right. He's just not suited to direct combat at all.
Irene is my latest disappointment, though i decided to stop complainning about her. I believe she's like Neinhart (well, a way better version of Neinhart). What i mean is, in direct combat she might be mediocre, but when she's in the back she's a real beast. Had she just kept on enchanting swords left and right, transforming fodder soldiers into berserkers etc, she would have been the number 1 Spriggan, the one to go for first if FT wants to have a chance.

Overall i think the Spriggans are all extremely deadly, but this is FT after all. Even an Irene will be trashed eventually.

You guys seriously think there are many that threatening? :s

So far, the only one who has left an impression on me AND not get ruined afterwards is August. Don't have much hopes it'll stay though, considering how things are going.

I don't consider any of them threatening. Acnologia is about the only threat left.

Spriggan threat is capped by their leader, Zeref. In hindsight one of the worst moments in this arc is when Zeref challenged FT in ch 494 with his "perfect formation". Great panel, but a great tease. If Zeref was more ruthless I'd be much more into their 'threat level'. Not that I expect Zeref to walk around on the front lines, but his bout with IgNatsu didn't give me the same impression as Hades vs Makarov or Mard vs CSK. Plus several other issues with his leadership, even as far as Irene pulling him up on his naivety, they besmirch the idea of these villains being threatening. The writing of the fights also doesn't help.

August holds no threat at all imo, best we can hope for is a great display. I would love carnage as much as the next person, and I won't rule it out, I just don't expect it.

While choosing the Spriggans that I liked, I definitely kept in mind that Fairy Tail has also grown a lot stronger since the past. But still, most of the Spriggans couldn't even show decent or average feats.

Jacob couldn't see female boobs. Don't even know how he got that far in his life, to be honest.

And Enhanced Neinhart, who was ordered to find Erza, decided it was a brilliant idea to stroll right over to Natsu and start trashtalking. That was why he got twoshotted like a complete fool.

For Brandish, there was really no reason for her to turn over to Fairy Tail's side... A little emotional moment isn't a good enough reason for her to all of a sudden just abandon the 12.

(She kept saying that "her help" was a one time deal and that she was still loyal to Alvarez... but she's pretty much on FT's side at this point in the story)

It would have been honestly better if she just admitted that she was gonna switch sides from the start.

God Serena gave us false hope when he acted like he was a rare challenge for Acnologia, but was oneshotted and wasted 8 dragon lacrimas that could have been put to better use in the story.

Ajeel and Larcade didn't show anything impressive other than wasting time. Especially Larcade, who was hyped up to be 3rd strongest Spriggan. The dude thought it was wise to pull out some kind of sex magic with a grin before goofing off and losing.

Last, you have Irene, who was so proud to downgrade herself by getting into Wendy's body. And for somebody who is 2nd ranked Spriggan, Erza and Wendy are doing quite a great job at beating her.

You can't really blame people like:

Dimaria
Bloodman
Wahl
Invel

They were all taken down by top-tier mages such as END, DF Gajeel, Laxus, and Gray.

Especially Bloodman... who would have killed Gajeel if it weren't for Irene's Universe One messing him up and actually backfiring.

And August.. Well, he's already proven himself quite a bit by taking down Jellal and all of OS within no more than a few minutes.

So what will happen when the arc is over? I would imagine the empire disbands and the war criminals including Brandish stay in jail oh wait this is Fairy Tail so they will get a speech about trusting each other.

You are talking plot things that came in. I am talking if they felt like a threat.
Ajeel did
Serena did

I have problem with bloodman having such weak mbp that levy was fine and three hits on gajeel didnt finish him of. That happened before df
I have problem with wahl for not being able to take out half dead laxus and using lightening against him. Even though he can figure out mira weakness

But rest i agree with you.
Non feel threat worthy now

Mashima said that there is a reason behind there being 12 members of the Spriggans. So I'm here to theorize what it is.

The Months

Invel-January, his coldness.

Irene-Febuary. The month of love, which Irene slacks on for her child but has greatly for Dragons. Plus Red hair.

Brandish-March. There is a "MASS" number of leafed clovers grown in March. Plus Brandish has two cross shaped horns and earrings. Total is 4 which could be symbolizing a four leafed clover.

Wahl-April. April starts off with April fool's. Which fits Wahl because he seems to be sort of a Jokester. I don't think there is a way his magic is incorporated with this but it's more personal.

Larcade-May. May has mother's day. Which when Larcade was revealed to be Zerefs son we didn't pin point who his mother was(even though it is mostly Mavis) plus it's a holiday that is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. For Sunday, a religious day in some countries doesn't Larcade look like some biblical figure. Plus for the Second, he fought two different combatants, Sting and Kagura. And was defeated by a Dual Dragon.

Ajeel-June. The start of summer, and mostly when people hear summer. They think of people at the beach. What is at the beach. Sand. Ajeels magic is Sand.

Jacob-July. The Fourth of July. Jacob looks like the most American character on this team. Plus he wears a tuxedo. Usually people who are wearing tuxedos most of the time when you see them are polictal figures like the president and congressmen.

August-August. Do I even need to say. Plus I feel August is a month of come back. School starts, fall begins, so much things happens in August, maybe that is why August has so many magic types.

DiMaria-September. I couldn't find much for this month to compare it's to DiMaria and what she has done. But I can say that the gem of the month is Sapphire and DiMaria did change into a partially Blue outfit.

October-Bradman. He sort of gives off the horror appearance. Plus his Thrid Seal looks like a ghost.

Neinhart-November. Thanksgiving where everybody comes together. Surprisingly Neinhart's magic allows him to bring foes and Allies from the past to the present. Like a family getting together.

December-God Serena. December has a lot of known Holidays. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, Hanukkah, Boxing Day, Winter Solstice, Day of the Innocents, and a new Moon. 8 Holidays. 8 Dragons(Go determine the dragons now.)

Some people have compared them to the 12 Zodiacs, Numbers on the clock, and 12 Greek Titans.

I tried to do the Titans but only a few members fit the role. Invel, God Serena, Irene if you want to know.

But what do you think? What do you think the 12 means in Spriggan 12?
Discuss in the comments.

All I can guess is some shields represent numbers...

- Brandish's surname is μ which is twelfth number of Greek alphabet. So she represents number 12.

- God Serena has 8 dragon lacrimas. He also ever cast a magic like this which resembles Yamata no Orochi, a Japanese mythical creature looking like a eight-headed snake. So he represents number 8.

- Name "Neinhart" is written "ナインハルト" (Nainharuto) which could mean "nine hearts" because there is "ナイン" (nain = nein/nine) in "Neinhart". Also there were only 9 alive Spriggans left after Universe One and he had to summon the other 3 dead Spriggans. So he represents number 9 I think. (EDIT: There were 9 Historias in Hargeon)

As for the other Spriggans, I am not sure which number they represent. So far this is all I can guess. There is Irene as well who has Universe One and "Let's become one, Erza" but I am not really sure.

What about August? August is 8th month, so his number may also be 8.

Generally I wouldn't mind, if it was the case, it's always cool to find some symbolism in a group of characters (like Oracion Seis and their prayers or Bleach's Espada and their aspects of death), but because it's hard to guess a number assigned to majority of S12, I think that Hiro doesn't plan anything like that ;)

If so then they represent months...

Yeah it's difficult to find out. All I can guess is just that. I really don't understand if they represent Greek titans or zodiacs or something like that. I can't remember where his saying there is something behind 12 stated. But most likely because it is larger number than before (6, 7, 9). The previous villain groups didn't have meaning either.

The Spriggans haven't been very much of an impact on me, but I guess I like some of them.
I would like to ask who is your favorite spriggan ?
Mine would be @Emperor Spriggan

I love @Emperor Spriggan as well :zomg though im not talking about the manga

My favourite Spriggan is Brandish (if i can call her a Spriggan :fail), followed by God Serena. I like Ajeel and Wahl as well.
Dimaria disappointed me by trying to kill her best friend, Irene is a bitch, Jacob Neinhart and Larcade are lame. August is fine i guess. Idc about Invel and Bloodman Bradman.

@MLG Bradman @Emperor Spriggan what do you think about Bradman? :?bunny

I think he is not a Zeref's demon as all of Zeref's demons have instinct to kill Zeref (see Natsu) and have etherious form. Bradman never said his Third Seal is his etherious form. He also didn't have instinct to kill Zeref. I guess he is pure demon like demons Mira took over before Tartaros arc (Sitri etc).

So are we ever gonna find out why God Serena turned against Ishgar? I really hope August explains it, as well as what he meant when he said God Serena is with him. Maybe "Hybrid Theory" is August's theory?

Since all the stuff with Dragon Slayer magic was defined, I felt more persuaded to think Bloodman doesn't use DeSM.

DSM - dragon power put into human. They can use DSM
DeSM - demon power put into human. They can use DeSM.

Bloodman fails the 'human' part. He's an etherious. He's got curse power. He used Ice devil's rage because that is a tech of the Ice devil. Igneel uses a roar, Natsu tries to mimic that with a FDK roar. But Igneel isn't a human, but it would be the same type of spell/technique.

Well I could be wrong on all that, Bloodman might be exceptional.
