Summary and Preview
In 2016 a meltdown of a nuclear power plant creates a big catastrophe in Tokyo. 20 years later, the city has become a ghost town due to the high levels of radiation. From that area a distress signal is received. The Self Defence forces dispatch 3 girls from the special unit Coppelion to search for survivors. But why aren't they wearing any protection against radiation?
彼女たちの名前は、「コッペリオン」。自衛隊工科学校所属の、生まれながらにして放射能に耐性を持つ少女たちだ。西暦2016年、関東地方を襲った大地震により原子力発電所がメルトダウンを起こし、放射能汚染で死の都となった東京。20年後の2036年、そこからの謎の救難信号をキャッチした自衛隊は、救助部隊として彼女たちを東京に送り込んだのだ。
はたして生存者はいるのか、そして、なぜ20年もたってから救難信号が発信されたのか。また、なぜコッペリオンは放射能に耐性を持つのか。様々な謎が交錯し、いろいろ予感を感じさせられる第1巻である。映画『 渚にて 』を思わせるさまざまな仕掛けも面白い。
作者の井上智徳先生はこれが商業誌初の連載作品だそうだが、それをあまり感じさせられない手馴れた作画、ストーリー構成には好感が持てる。今後が楽しみな作品のひとつといえる。
