Don't let the art throw you off or else you'll miss out on this very cute and very funny story about a racehorse named Makibao. Born from a thoroughbred mother named Midori and a donkey father, Makibao is small and often made fun of, but his speed is undeniable. Makibao strives to become the best for his mother who was sold off to repay debts and to beat his rival, Cascade. He is helped on his quest by the confident mouse, Chuubei, and a jockey that's just right for him, Yamamoto Kansuke. Together they overcome many obstacles to win. [WinningDays]
