Summary and Preview
Toneriko, master of the two guns called Evergreen, belongs to a guild of assassins named Tanatos. In the guild, the top 10 assassins are given the title of a Number. The assignment of Numbers occurs every time 999 black sheep, which is what targets for assassination are called, are killed. However, the murder of Toneriko's family causes him to seek vengeance against Number One, the best assassin, Tekirai, during a Number ceremony and bring turmoil to the guild as assassins take sides and blood is spilled.
