Jeah Luffy sold me neither.

The set pieces look great thou. And Alvida as a fat woman is actually there. Cant wait for the fatshaming critics when she gets thin and is considered extremly beautiful.

As of now my hope lies in Zoro. Nami looks kinda meh.

He gives me the idea of a sort of insecure kid who doesn't feel ready to be a pirate yet....in short, the exact opposite of Luffy.

Even the comedy does not convince me.

Not to mention the CGI. Already the final punch on a completely black background to show as little as possible is definitely a bad sign.....

Are you talking about the design, or the lines? Because some his lines reminded me of the usual comedy we see in american movies.

Design-wise I liked Luffy and Sanji the most TBH.

The lines. Design wise i don’t expect a live action to be 100% authentic. But all of Luffy’s lines in the trailer were off and have nothing to do with Luffy’s personality

i don’t think the actor really understands who is Luffy, and it shows

Isn't it the scriptwriter's job? The actor can only follow what's in the script.

True but the actor can also portray the character better. I don’t get a single Luffy vibe from the guy

I think the early lines might just be voice over for the trailer.

But I like it! I like it a bit more after each rewatch. Characters look good, the chemistry is there, it's funny, sets are amazing. Buggy is absolutely mental and I love it.

What I don't like is some choices of lenses in the photography, Namis wig, and how Gomu Gomu was animated at the end. It's not absolutely awful, but still bit eh... But luckily that's something to easily be developed the more they do the effects. There is also something in the compositiong work or grading that bothers me, but I can't quite put a finger on it.

But overall extremely positive experience and I think the chance of a complete fart is pretty low. At worst it's gonna be just kinda meh okay, at best its gonna be great.

I think you are in the minority with that opinion. He feels very Luffy. Different for sure, but in the spirit of the character.

He almost looks like a Star Lord who wants to be the funny guy of the situation.

In my opinion the most wrong thing is that in addition to the clothes a little too cosplayer (Nami and Zoro), is that they are all too clean.

There is no dirt. They are all neat and painted beyond belief as if they literally just came out of the anime. They don't look like real pirates, not even by mistake, but they don't look like cabin boys either..... they look like dandies all polished to perfection.

While in a world of pirates, even if it's One Piece, one would like some dirt and crap, like Pirates of the Caribbean.

In my opinion this makes it sound too fake.

I am looking forward to seeing how they will cut the East Blue Saga for their season 1, and how they will manage the goofy/seriousness of characters for a TV show from a shonen manga. I guess they must have taken some liberty from the manga to make it interesting in this format. I must say it must be quite complex for the show runners.

But then, if Oda's (and I'm guessing Shueisha's) idea is reaching out to a new audience who aren't familiar with opera, being too faithful could be dangerous.

The cringe, the aesthetic exaggeration, the sideshows, are buffers for an audience that watches Stranger Things and Black Mirror.

It seems to me a really wrong idea from a commercial point of view, in this way the only who will watch this series will be those who are already fans of One Piece, more out of curiosity than interest

Not liking nami's hair too and her voice, or more exactly i feel it doesnt fit her character or how I see her. tho I just love sanji and zoro the most.
