You guys overthink this too much lol. I bet Mashima doesn't even put much thought into these stuff, he probably forgot about how Bradman's abilities work XD

Again, massive thanks to @Emperor Spriggan, I couldn't have figured this out without his help. :super
Haha you're welcome
You did talk about the Field of Skulls trapping you under it, so I drew the inspiration from that:smile-big
So that was a Unison Raid between Zeref and Bradman:zomg

Second Seal: It is used to trap the opponents and the only way to break out it by using Holy Attribute Magic (Gajeel was helpless until Levy appeared).
Helpless? Hardly, he was knocked down, sure, but Levy showed up like a second later, she saved Gajeel before he even had a chance to try and get up himself. No way was Gajeel done for from that attack alone, even against Bradmans strongest curse, Over Skelter, Gajeel was not only able to escape, but he could also swim back to Levy, then swim out again carrying her with him.
Hopefully this will clear things up about Bradman in the Domus Flau, the only reason Gajeevy survived is because they were direct counters.
Only reason Gajeel had such a hard time was cause Bradman was a hard counter to Gajeel's magic, being intangible is the perfect counter to a wizard who's magic revolves around attacking with physical objects.

The reason he could escape Over Skelter was because the Second Seal wasn't in effect, had the Second Seal not been dispelled he would have been stuck under even more skulls. As for Gajeel escaping the Second Seal, he was getting bombarded by them and they were leaving marks, he might have been able to escape it but before Bradman used a 9DG curse or Over Skelter? I highly doubt it.

Also Gajeel grabbed Levy on the way out of Over Skelter, he didn't go back.

They both had advantages but Gajeel's was greater, had Gajeel not had special lungs he would have been down in moments akin to the Thunder God Tribe and ST fodder. In comparison Bradman tanked a few hits from DF Gajeel before he died so I can confidently say that Bradman wouldn't have been in immediate danger had he been tangible for the majority of that fight.

Also should this be in the PR thread?
Yes, it should lol.

Just adding this part so its not deleted for being an one-liner Dimaria's booty is nice.

If you ignore the inconsistency, and just think about how someone could block Kagura's sword like Larcade did, and maintain his stance... then is it possible for him to slash Kagura with his hand? No.

That's why I speculate it's magic. Him being that physically strong is the simplest explanation, but I'm not certain of it right now.
There is a massive difference between the author not paying attention to the exact distance a character would have to be to touch another and how powers even work in the verse. Again, Kaguras arm is missing, I'm not gonna speculate on what happened to it though because its obviously an artistic inconsistency. In this case the details are even more minor. I'm not gonna stop you from speculating of course, if you really want to speculate it go ahead, its your right.

How is this a proof of anything?
It proves that hiro didn't pay attention when he drew that panel, which is pretty crucial given that your speculation hinges on the minor detail of where Larcade stands in comparison to where he should have stood if he had "logically" cut Kagura down.

Interesting discussion... Now that you guys bring it up, I am curious as to what actually happened when Kagura got cut by Rakheid.

Based on how I interpreted, I agree with both @Brandish and @Dr. Monty.

Basically, I don't think Rakheid has the ability to reflect attacks. If he did, Hiro Mashima would have made it clearer by either having Rakheid state it himself or by showing statements from characters nearby (including Kagura).

At the same time though, I don't see Rakheid having that much physical strength either. Being able to slash at somebody with pure physical strength and cutting them is a significant feat. Not to mention, there is the distance inconsistency that was already mentioned. That's just my opinion though. It's possible.

Anyways, because what Kagura had seemed more like a cut...

I think Rakheid used his "Blades of Light". In my eyes, this is the most probable explanation as to how Kagura got hit especially since we've already seen this spell before. Also, a few pages back, Rakheid uses this attack without any magic glowing from his hands which is exactly what was shown when he "slashed" at Kagura.

Based on how blades "cut", this is how I interpreted the scene. Of course, I could be wrong. A counter to my theory is that we don't actually see the attack. But if you look at the first page I posted, you can see that the whole background is white so we really can't tell if it is behind her already. Kind of like this one.

Again, I could be totally wrong about this.

I agree with you on that XXEliteXXAceXX. When this chapter came out, I, like many others, wondered just how Larcade cut Kagura in this particular scene. What I believe happened is that he did hit her with a "Blade of Light". Whether that light comes from Pleasure of it's a type Light Magic, it looked like one of them. How I interpreted the scene was, Larcade stopped Archenemy with his left hands two fingers whilst his right hand was horizontally out to the side his body. And then he just fired a "blade" from that stationary position straight forward, through her left side, at the hip area. That's what I think COULD have happened.

One a side note, I think it may be a form of Light Magic when he uses the "blades" because when Larcade uses Pleasure in the form of those "tendrils", you don't see the small lines on the outside of the "blades" like you do when he uses the Pleasure "tendrils". But I could very easily be wrong. Just my thought.

@Emperor Spriggan Interesting...

I think that it is most likely Neinhart and Irene:

- Neinhart due to the fact that he's missed meetings, didn't partner with Wahl/DiMaria and if there was a small invasion of Ishgar it would make sense to send him given he can conjure a mini-army.
- Irene due to the fact that she has disobeyed Zeref previously and she fits the bill of someone who would only leave due to Etherion and FACE (who else could have challenged 10 years back? Even Goddy would get wrecked).

The reason I think it could be both of them is because Neinhart seems more loyal to her than Zeref, given that he told Brandish she was betraying Irene, not Zeref/Alvarez.

Not too sure why Bradman's there, I mean, he's bloodthirsty but I can't imagine him crossing his creator who can turn him into a book and kill him in seconds. Ajeel is a possibility given his edge towards Goddy but he seems too young IMO. As for Obra... it's possible this was when he infiltrated but he doesn't seem suited for all out battle, unless the invasion was a front to just insert him?

Good find, that's interesting... tbh I'd like any of these to be true, just because it could lead to a flashback of God Serena and the GoI vs a Spriggan.

Is Bradman from a Book? He seems to be an artificial creation like Doriate was from Succubus Eye...that or he's an inhabitant of the Underworld and Zeref directly recruited him from there:zomg

That....actually makes sense:s
Like it was a front to insert someone who would continue watching over Ishgar until the next invasion?

Given Irene's reluctance to join the others at the fairy tail guild where Zeref was, and her being almost triggered by Heine casually mentioning she's originally from Ishgar, i'm not sure she was one of the invaders. Neinhart I can see as his way of proving himself useful to Irene because like @MLG Bradman says he seems to be more loyal to her than Zeref/Alvarez and also seems to know some of if not all the truth behind who Irene is and her connection to Erza/Ishgar.

I don't see Bradman doing it either. I don't know I just don't see him going against Zeref's wishes and doing something so hot headed.

I can see Larcade doing it to get daddy's attention though but he seems too young as well. For all we know this isn't even the original S12 (considering God Serena is relatively new) and Zeref maybe dealt with some of them:XD

Assuming there were always 12 shields, then the invaders from X781 might not have been in the current 12.

DiMaria, Ajeel, Brandish, Invel and Neinhart seem too young. God Serena was not a part of the 12. So there's 6 former 12 who could be replaced by X792.

But if it has to be someone in the current 12... I'm gonna say Wall-sama. He could have went to procure Etherion. Irene seems possible too. August... not sure, he seems like he'd follow orders.

I can see Larcade doing it to get daddy's attention
Yep, he chucked a tantrum over Natsu (found the pendant). Some of the Spriggans don't like to be told no - Larcade got that word a lot :teehee

I'm not sure tbh, I kinda just assumed he was from a book given that Mard was and he looked completely human. That said, I would love for Bradman to have come from the Underworld.

It's times like this that I remember Jacob's alive and Bradman's dead... :fail

We need an S12 spin-off Hiro!!!!

Exactly, the only hole in that idea is that it was an unauthorized assault...

Other than that it would be perfect strategy, it allows Alvarez to plant Obra as a spy to gain information whilst simultaneously testing Ishgar's strength (bar Etherion and FACE) and reaction time.

With all of this being said, there is the possibility that the Spriggan who attacked Ishgar is dead/imprisoned like @Belserion said, I can't imagine Zeref or August being happy about a Spriggan launching a random attack...

Nice theory my Padawan Empi.

Some time back i theorised who can be those members who originally attempted to invade Ishgar.

Brandish,Dimaria,Invel,Ajeel,Neinhart can't be as they were all children during that time.

August-Can be but i doubt as he is very loyal to Zeref and will not invade without Zeref's orders.

Jacob-A young man at that time though he is loyal to Zeref.A virgin young man so no chance.

Wahl-A Machias though he seems loyal to Zeref.

Bloodman-An Etherious who can live for hundred of years so he can be active at that time.Chances are high.

Irene-Very much a chance especially if he crossed over to Alvarez Empire at that time.

Larcade-I don't know his age but if he was active at that time then he can be huge candidate for this invasion. He might have wanted his mother's body.

God Serena-Relatively new.No chance.

I hope to see Obra soon.He should be with Zeref now.

So all suspicions are centred mainly on Irene and Larcade.

Where exactly was Zeref 10 years ago? Maybe somewhere in Fiore? Sirius Island? Maybe August wanted to pick him up?

What if it's August and Jacob who invaded Ishgar? The GoI seemed well informed about August and Jacob. Or maybe, this has already been some info that has spread around the Council? But, why did Jura and probably Makarov too not know about them?

Weren't the GOI informed about some of the Spriggan 12? They also knew why Makarov had gone to Alvarez in the first place, so I always assumed that over the one year he was there, he was sending information back to Ishgar and to the GOI.
How does that sound?

When Makarov was trying to explain members of the 12 to FT members, he didn't mention Jacob. This is why I bolded the word "but" :D

Hmm this is interesting topic I admit

Brandish at age 14yo went to avenge her mums murder.

:hip

The Nation Demolisher.

She doesn't know the meaning of 'no', or orders. That's why Zeref had to ask her specifically that in the prelude to battle :ohaielmo

10 years ago is a long time but most of the young twelve like Larcade, DiMaria, Ajeel, Brandish ect. would've been 15-17 while the older ones like Jacob would've been around 25-35 and August was still old lol. It's still possible that they were same 12 minus Serena back then. Ajeel could've been fudging around like the rash brat he is :XD. Zeref said the Twelve weren't ready at the time but now they were.

It's prediction fanfic time~

10 years ago August left Jacob alone with the Teens. Said teens thought it would be cool to head over to Ishgar to see what it was about. Natives like Irene and Brandish were off put by the idea but the others like Ajeel, Wall, DiMaria and Larcade were interested in going. So they hatched a plan that involved exploiting Jacob's weakness to force him to pass out and it worked.

The teens jacked a battle cruiser and went over to Ishgar to see what it was all about. They landed over at Hargeon a city in Bosco and saw the port Bosco's city life but what they didn't know was Hargeon Bosco had one of the worst crime rates. So they got attacked which resulted in them defending themselves but going overboard at the same time.

Local authorities try to attack them but got immediately beat. So they sent in the youngest and strongest Wizard Saint in history. He had the powers to use Eight DS Lacrimas and he used that power to attack the crew. Taken by surprise they were blown back and GS was going to unleash a deadly blow but August erected a barrier around them and blocked the attack. The boy tried to attack again but was put on his knees by August who was impressed by his power. August said that if GS wanted to achieve real power and fufill his dreams he should join Alvarez. August took the kids and left after that.

It was revealed that Invel snitched on them to August. They were all grounded for doing something so reckless and putting poor Jacob in the hospital by surrounding him with a bunch strippers.

Ishgar however took the teenage rebellion as an act of War as said teenagers rebellious act led to a city and more in destruction so Ishgar display their power by showing off the Etherion canon. To this date Ishgar doesn't know that small war was actually just a bunch of powerhouse kids trying to have fun. :D

That concludes my prediction fanfic. :derp

As you all know I've advocated for Hiro to create a Spriggan 12 back story because they are the best squad :hee even tho Hiro doesn't treat them right :emocat

Oh oops! My bad lol, I didn't take notice of it the first time.
And you're right, he didn't mention Lessio :O Even when Lessio showed up at the Guild Hall, they didn't know who he was until he introduced himself...
He only knew 7 of the 12.
Hmm this is interesting topic I admit
:)
Thanks.
About your Zeref remark, I think he was still on Tenrou 10 years ago, remember there was a seven year timeskip because of Fairy Sphere and also a one year one after Tartaros.
Before that, he was always on Tenrou Island.
