• You can pick openings & endings of any anime that you like (series or movie, or Ova) but western animation are not allowed. However tracks in other languages are allowed.
• You can choose any anime opening or ending that was released after January 2020 up to the current season (Spring 2024)
• It is up to you how you define what is a best intro/outro to you. Choose your top 10 anime openings/endings based on your personal criteria — whether it's creativity, visuals, music, or a mix of everything. Your submission can even include tracks from an anime that you've never watched. And whether you like, love or hate the anime or not is irrelevant for your list.
• Honorable mentions are allowed.
• As long as deadline is not reached, you can change your list as much as you want.
• Please, rank your top following the usual format :

1 - 10 pts
2- 9 pts
3- 8pts
4- 7pts
etc.

TL;DR TIME

Okay so this round kinda killed my back + legs and hands, no seriously.. it did lol. Even with holidays, even with taking my time, it was hella lots of work to make a god damn post. Not even because of the counting or that shit, but also mostly because of the credits I gave to the artists artworks. To me, it is kinda important to do that and I have also a special site for it in case I can’t find who made it (unless saucenao.com also doesn’t detect which artist created it).

As an artist myself, I have been talking with many other artists or artists that I am manual with (aka following each other). That already gave me a realization that some really do not like it if you use their artwork without crediting them properly or using their artwork without asking for permission. That is one of the reasons why some delete their social media account which is quite unfortunate. So for most of the works I got permission from the artists and/or the twitter/pixiv/tumblr etc. profile says ‘’you can use my artwork as long as you credit’’, which most of the time I did (unless I was extremely tired then I refered to ''respective owners''). Its just an important part to do imo. I personally wouldn’t like it either if someone used my artwork without crediting me or using it without asking for my permission. So the least I and many can do is write ‘’credits to the respective owner’’. Hence it took sometimes incredible long to make some posts.

That aside, I kinda feel Syx and Zimb’s pain when it comes to hosting a round. That was some damn preparation time you needed for it. It makes you tired, it sucks all the energy out of you, and you are like fuck this shit imma go to sleep. I honestly do not want to imagine doing this during a god damnit working day. Holidays was already a pain in the ass, let alone during these days....

My back still hurts jesus christus and the weather didn't help here either HAHA.

However, I did had my fun for sure. The first two days were rather alright to my taste, but mostly due to the fact that the side/minor characters weren't quite important to people. After the ''more important'' characters got releaved, people started to care more about and it become more and more fun afterwards especially seeing some discussions, that was nice watch. XD

Sometimes I wanted to join the discussion, but honestly... I had fucking no energy for it, and now I am trying to use all my energy while having this omegakek headache to type this shitterino, because WE GOTTA DO IT SO NO NEED FOR TOMORROWWWWWWWWWWWWW~~

Also the fact that I didn't even need to troll for Shou Tucker... you guys are fucking awesome. <3 The dude isn't even rank 20, he is rank 19. Like why need to troll for that if he even managed to get into the top 20's anyway. xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD However, good news is that Lan Fan ended up as rank 20. So she is top 20 as well and for Izumi, she is, of course, rank 10. So seeing you guys getting annoyed by the fact she didn't made it to the top 10 was quite enjoyable to watch as well. <3

Also I forgot one thing in the Edward post.... I wanted to post these nice official crossover drawings and share them.......

I truly loved how everyone though I was planning to do a 1# meme character or some predictable thing like that. The possiblity could be there, but that is a bit too common. That aside, everyone forgot already about Rose Thomas while I had already a tarot card and an official wallpaper for her and that was literally the perfect candidate just to troll/meme with as a third placer. No one would expect such an outcome and the reactions after that were, of course, lovely which gave me a good laugh as usual. For those that joined the meme and for those that also saw they had ''points on Rose'', love ya guys a lot for not reacting surprised and getting along with it. <3

Anyway, @Faust here are the official points ranking of the characters in the spoiler tags. I kept track of all my posts in this round since day one. Editing the ranking posts takes approx. 3 to 5 minutes, so for me that is literally no big deal at all lol. That aside, I hope you guys enjoyed the round. Thank you for everyone that participated in this round and that also discussed about the series. It was certainly fun to watch once it started to bring some ''heat'' and it brought me some nice memories back from FMA 2003 and FMAB.

Man, in some bizarre alternate universe there is a version of this moment where this isn't Magi magic and I'm completely losing my shit over this. Just the idea that she would beat Mei would have been enough to trigger me a bit. Winry that would upgrade it to salt level 10. Her beating Izumi would bring it to salt level omega.

..


Anyway, I think I said everything if not then rip...

Thought it was also suggested that he was short because he was supplying nutriments to Al's body on the otherside, thus why he also ate and slept so much.

That point was flawed tho, cause it doesnt explain why Ed grew so much during the winter before the Final Day.
Besides if he ate and slept x2 then he should have grown just fine (??? shonen logic, take with a grain of salt).

I had fun with this game, the top 10 with exceptions wasn't what I expected, but that was precisely what made the top so fun.
Many thanks to @Purity of Magi for being polite enough to invite me to the game despite not knowing me and for making this ranking so funny. It has been a true pleasure to participate in it ^_^

Very fun and great effort by @Purity of Magi but of course I didn‘t expect anything less of a Magi.

He's not a personal favorite of mine but I do think he's a great character. He was one of the candidates for that 10 spot on my list along with Wrath. I went with Riza instead. But I expected him to be at least in the top 3 and that's not really something I'd argue either. I'm just a bigger fan of other characters.

For me Edward is #1. By like a mile. Then there are like tiers of characters below that. Like I said before the next teir down is like 10 characters, most of whom I feel like we got right. I think Winry and Izumi belong in that teir and I think Mustang belongs in that tier near the top. Along with Wrath, Greed, Ling Yao, the Armstrongs, and some other characters.

It's after that I feel like we screwed up. Mei is definitely in that next tier and Shou Tucker is definitely not in that tier.

I would rate this list the 2nd best I've been a part of next to the Zim's Bleach one in terms of producing something that doesn't upset my stomach when I think about it. Aside from Tucker, Mei, Envy, and Izumi (who I still think is too low) and the filler characters that I think honestly aren't even qualified to play in this game character-wise, They're solid amateurs playing against pros. So overall I think it turned out alright.

There are so many great characters in FMA that some are bound to get left out too. That's just the way a list of 10 works. I mean, I like Rose too but she'd be around like #35ish if I was making a top 100 list. Just because there are about that many characters that are simply better than her.

Of course, the father consider Alex to be the next succesor then the other, and Mira simply does not agree.


So.. for that... it can only be settled with a siblings battle, right?

Armstrong siblings picture time~!

Olivier should have been ranked higher, she was so badass and so great. Like, the confidence, the strength, the intelligence, and the awareness. She also stood for what was right and had no fear of the higher-ups, willing to have Miles work under her. Also loved her relationship with RIza and Mustang, having no problem pissing off Mustang or letting him die while caring about Riza and seeing her as a friend. She was opposite of Alex, but Alex was great when it counted.

Although I didn't vote for Alex, he was also a great character. Hilarious and masculine along with Sig, but he was also soft and cared. He had badass moments, and it was great to see him go from running away to continuing to fight SLoth despite how scary Sloth was. He wasn't as smart, but he was still smart enough.

That aside, Riza is always by Roy's side no matter what. His true right hand or better said, it's just his waifu. She is loyal to him, no matter what happens, and it's the other way around as well. You can rather say that Riza is the water to Roy's flames. One that will calm down the other when its needed.

Along with Olivier, Riza was such a badass woman and also deserved to be top 5. It was cute to see how she was opposite of Roy in ability to make friends, and how many people thought of her fondly while getting pissed off at Roy's face. I like how she was maternalistic towards the Elric brothers as well, and her conversation with Edward. She had no problem treating them like adults but was also aware that they were still kids. I think Riza had the highest EQ out of any character in FMA.

And when she had to possibly shoot Roy. My main gripe is that her life centered around him so much that she was willing to die with him

Why I like Wrath/Bradley so much? Some of the reasons I can list are:

-Has a cool design.
-Probably the most badass character of the whole series. Anytime he appeared everyone shat on their pants because they knew he was a beast and could destroy them in seconds. Even being mortally wounded didn't stop him from being an absolute monster in the battlefield, and nearly killed Scar even when he lost his freaking arms. Dude even won against a fucking tank with only his sword and a grenade. Cannot get more badass than that.
-Related to the point above, despite not having the regenerative abilities of the Homunculi and only having his special eye as a superpower, he managed to kick lots of asses and being one of the best fighters of the manga.
-His fights are some of the bests of the manga/Brotherhood.
-Also the best antagonist of FMA. Ruthless, charismatic, comanding, menacing and even has some sympathetic qualities, traits who make him interesting and very effective as a villain.
-Has pretty good lines.
-Has a pretty good sense of humor (when he got to visit Edward in a Hawaian shirt, anyone?).
-I like how he represents his sin (portraying the tranquil fury aspect of wrath and only unleasing it on his enemies).
-Though he didn't have a good opinion on humans, unlike the other evil Homunculi he never understimated them and even recognized their importance in his life as he died.
-Also, unlike his siblings, he doesn't fucks around and gets to the action without wasting time.
-Great death scene.
-Basically Hitler on steroids. Sounds ridiculous on paper, but is portrayed surprisingly well.

Overall my favorite FMA character, glad he got into the top 5.

He was so great and badass. My jaw and dentures dropped when I found out he was Wrath, given how funny he was when he was introduced, and how carefree he came across.

There were times I even prefered when Al was in the spotlight, he gave a different feeling of the rest of the alchemists and his loyalty to Ed was amazing; his constrast with Edward's personality was great and he had some of the best badass moments in the series.

Best boy without a doubt, in any version.

I loved how Al was the polar opposite of Ed, it really gave them chemistry and made them a great team, especially comedic wise where Ed did Ed things and Al either reacted exasperatedly or knew what Ed would do.

I used to be team Al for a long time, but my last rewatch made me really appreciate the journey and growth Ed.

Al more or less stays the same thorough the series. He has his low points as well, but it is more driven by his state as an soul in armour, more than actual growth of a person.

Never the less, brilliant and unforgettable. He really is the hook of the series early on!

How could Al have changed or grown as a person?

Well that's kind of the problem - he was kinda perfect from the start. Gentle, calm and talented. There isn't a lot of room to grow. And that isn't really interesting on the long run. Though change doesn't always need to be positive in fiction.

He could have reflected and reacted to the horror around him more prominently. His growing existential crisis and anxiety could have more long term effects to his actions and persona. Make him more passive and prone to panic attacks (I faintly remember something along the lines, but that didn't ouch the boundaries much). Or maybe even aggressive. He could have mirrored Ed and grown from a idealist to realist and then back again when the more sceptical Ed rounds the route of hope.

Not saying there is anything wrong with Al. Eds role just gives him nowadays a slight edge in my preferences. To use scriptwriting terms, Ed is The Protagonist and Al, most of the time, The Hero. Protagonist is the one with an aim and a need and he grows thorough the story into a better or worse person (anti-hero). The Hero, unlike in common language use, isn't the protagonist, but a person who supports The Protagonist and steers them to the right rails.

In long-term storytelling these roles and focus change and shift from character to character, but for majority of the run Al is mostly the Hero (And also at the same time, MacGuffin. At times, he is also The Protagonist). Nothing wrong with heroes, quite contrary, they are usually the coolest characters. But Heroes aren't usually as nuanced and developed as the Protagonists. Thus giving the slight edge to Ed over Al. I love Al, but on long run and hindsight, Ed is more interesting to me.

Ever so slightly though - I gave him 1 more point than Al. They are neck to neck.
