Summary and Preview
As the title suggests, the main storyline is about the daily life of Yuuki, the mangaka, and his assitant(s) (a-shisu-tanto = japanified english word of "assistant"). Yuuki Aito is the manga-ka of "Hajiratte Cafe Latte" ("haji-cafe" for short), serialized in "Shounen Gon Gon" (probably a parody of "Shounen Gan Gan", the actual magazine that's serializing THIS manga). He claims to be "a manga artist of love and courage" (pun to his name "Aito Yuuki"; "ai to yuuki" = "love and courage"). His work isn't really displayed or discussed in detail in the manga itself, but judging by the things he talks about, one can only wonder if his genre is actually ecchi -_-!
Ashisu, Yuuki's assistant, and Mihari, Yuuki's hot-headed editor (Yuuki usually being the cause of her fearful temper), have to put up with his perverse nonsense while ensuring he submits his work on time. Yuuki constantly consults Ashisu regarding useless details on panties or boob-grabbing, etc (sometimes it's a perverted scheme to take advantage of her). Ashisu sometimes falls for his antics (but makes sure he regrets it later!), but most times she's able to ignore him and concentrate on her work. If all fails, there's always Mihari. Apart from deadlines, she keeps Yuuki in check, behavior-wise (especially when he tries to trick the very innocent and naive newbie assistant, Rinna). Despite all that, there is some innocence in our protagonist (his dying wish is to have a girl confess her love for him).
This manga is currently up to volume 3; each chapter is fairly short compared to other mangas. According to Hiroyuki-sensei (creator and artist), there isn't a real storyline yet. It is introduced as "a comedy about a manga assitant and an editor being dragged around in circles by the whims and sexual harrassment of a silly and perverted mangaka. Recommended to those who are just bored with life" (sourced from Hiroyuki-sensei's own website, www.seijunha.com) Hiroyuki-sensei is considered a 4-koma mangaka (also a doujin manga-ka), and hence has started a 4-koma version of this manga by the name of Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to (4-Koma Version).
