Summary and Preview

A tranquil tale about two boys from very different upbringings. On one hand you have Kai, born as the son of a prostitute, who's been playing the abandoned piano in the forest near his home ever since he was young. And on the other you have Syuhei, practically breast-fed by the piano as the son of a family of prestigious pianists. Yet it is their common bond with the piano that eventually intertwines their paths in life.

An excellent manga. Full of emotions. Hope someone can do scanlation for this manga. Been waiting for a long time for another chapter since vol 6 chap 43. Permalink " "

Slice of Life - seriously!? Who adds a slice of life tag to this kind of a series!? The characters and the circumstances are anything but ordinary, and depictions of everyday life are only in the series as long as it furthers the plot and character development.

There are three main characters in the series. Kai, the focus of the story, is a son of a prostitute and uses abandoned old piano as an escape from his harsh life in the underworld community of the "Forest Edge." Syuhei is the son of a world famous pianist, pressured into studying the piano since the age of four largely against his will. Ajino is a former world famous pianist whose reason for existence was destroyed in an unfortunate traffic accident. Then one day in a quiet, backwater town, the three of them kindle a passion for the piano in each other with a little help from the great classical composers like Beethoven, Mozart, and especially Chopin. The heart of the series is not the piano nor the Chopin that gets much attention. It's the exposition of character development and the interactions between the three that is the core of the series.
