Alright I went through and manually PMed just about EVERYONE that sent in a complaint (er well started at around #70 because the others were already replied to...)
Anyway, to help everyone out, we collected all the common questions/complaints and came up with this handy quick FAQ. Up until now we had the shout box (announcements) to guide you to what you wanted. We understand, you feel lost. But there is a method to our madness. First ask yourself a question -- what are you looking for?
Q: Where are the RTS THREADS?!?! A: A list of
all the latest releases are now accessible through the "
Downloads" link on the main menu.. You can also access the last few on the
homepage or
search for a chapter from the homepage.
Q: Where is the SHOUT BOX?A: If you want to know when manga is out, instead of the need for a shoutbox that contains tons of releases you may not be interested in, just subscribe to exactly the series you want to read and you'll be notified by PM
instantly on release.
To subscribe. - Go to a manga page, like http://mangahelpers.com/manga/details/one-piece
- On the right is the option to subscribe. Just select what you want and you'll be notified the moment it comes out!
Now we can do more.
Want RAWs? All here:
Downloads -> Raws ->
http://mangahelpers.com/downloads/?lang=jpWant Translations?Translators ->
http://mangahelpers.com/translators/Want scans? Never easier.
Downloads -> Browse EN Scans ->
http://mangahelpers.com/downloads/?lang=enQ: Where's (so and so) manga?A: Before, unless you knew where you were going, or it was shouted finding manga was a pain. The new browse feature (
Manga > Browse) makes it much easier to find what you're looking for. Just type the first few letters & click on the name, and it takes you to all raws/scans/trans ever released for that manga! This is something that took ages to do before, when it was even possible at all.
Q: But still... why'd you change everything!?A: Because it benefits everyone. Before, the Shout box was limited to staff being around, now it can be instantaneous.
Before, it was hard to know what else a scanlator or translator was working on. Now with their own pages you can see everything they work on. And further, in their archive pages you get even more info.
Observe:
http://mangahelpers.com/t/cnet128/archives/Now you can find the Raws based on Cnet's translation and the scans using them.
Or from the groups view
http://mangahelpers.com/s/binktopia/releases/You can see both the raw and the translation from here as well
Not to mention on the:
http://mangahelpers.com/downloads/You can see ALL raws/scans on one page, easily sort it on the right and see who the translator was (so you can pick the scan that uses your favorite person). Before, you had to download the file just to see this basic info.
And finally -- !
You never have to worry about files expiring!
If people upload to the site, the files will stay here, not expire, and they'll be accessible for everyone whenever. However, if everyone opts to use the various download sites like rapid/mega/etc then there is always the chance that your files will just disappear.
And as a bonus, those that do upload will have their manga viewable on an online reader, and in their release details will automatically have the cool thumbnails (so you can quickly see their quality^^)
http://mangahelpers.com/s/maximum7/details/2594This, amongst other reasons is why we changed what you guys knew. It may seem like the end of the world, but if you take a minute to adjust you'll wonder how you lived without it.
Also keep in mind we will continue improve the site to make it easier, so keep suggestions coming. :D
Yes, I'm starting to think this whole new layout is cooler than the old one. I really like this chapter compilation page - it makes thing so much easier. But i notice that past raws are not added. will it be added later?
Now the only thing that can be improve is if you can actually filter the languages for the raws, translation & scanlation and sort your shoutbox to the manga only you label as favorite.
Cheerios.
However, I recommend you change 'I'm a Fan' to 'Add to Favourites' or something similar, as I had no idea, without asking someone, that the 'I'm a Fan' button was what you needed to hit to add to your favourites.
I agree with this, it is rather confusing. I will change that when I get home from work today!
Great work you guys! Thanks! ^^
The table instead is flooded with releases from a single serie.
Ok, this particular point has been brought up over and over and it's been gnawing its way under my skin. Every single one of you, who are complaining about this, are missing a very, very crucial point; which is:
Yes -- of course there will be tons of retroactive links at the release of a database resource. Why? Because groups are, (to everyone's future convenience), adding all the releases into the database in order for anyone at a later date to go back and find links for older chapters. Or even for a new member, who will be able to start reading a series from the start as opposed to from release 577.
It is to be expected that for the first week or two there would be lots of retroactive addings. Once most groups get done with this, things will return to normal and release tracking will once again have mainly the uttermost recent chapters showing on the main page.
I can't stress enough the importance of actually having these entries for older chapters in the db. Most of you who are complaining about this are just seeing things from a perspective of "here, now and where's MY shit!!!" while the big picture that you will be thankful for in the long run is passing by your sight without even the slightest of notice.
I was SICK of rapidshare, megaupload, and the other bazillion wait to download sites.
YOU ARE MY HEROES.
What I mean is that popular titles, with several scanlators working on them, will hide the less popular releases.
Edit: oh wait, it's shoutbox in the functions hoho I wonder what it will be hyhy xD
Yes, it was uploaded only to disappear shortly after ._. not sure what happened~ But we think SF took it off~
Now, i go to the Download page of the scanlations or raws. I see then a huge list of raws or scanlations, and after my eyes have seen all those manga chapters i don't read, i finally find (for example) naruto chapter. Oh my bad, i always read naruto from sleepyfans and that one isn't the one!
Still, after i've finally found the one i want, i still have to check my other 3 favourites...
Yes, i can select a manga, so it will sort then. But i'll tell the big difference. At the shoutbox, i could always see in one glance which one of them was out or not (the raws). now i need to check everyone of them, and then look if it's the right (newest) chapter.
Just add the shoutbox again... please!
Edit: didn't read promfret's comment lol. Happy they'll be back soon.
With that said your problem can be handled easily.
It appears you have your own preference for a group right? Well, why not subscribe to them? You'd get a PM when they released naruto and bleach, and then you subscribe to the other group that does one piece and yeah, you're all set.
Not only is it faster than the shout box but it's more convenient.
I don't know if it was mentioned before (I didn't read all 125 posts) but there are strange things happening with the main menu. The labels merge and all gravitate to the left side...:D
I've link like:
http://mangahelpers.com/mangahelpers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=367#mainforum
But the right link should be:
http://mangahelpers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=367#mainforum
Too many mangahelpers.com ;)
A: Because it benefits everyone.
I beg to differ. Wow, now there's a shout box... lol. This site has become chaotic now IMO.

That's all fine and dandy but doesn't work that well. For example in Claymore section http://mangahelpers.com/manga/details/claymore/scanlations/ , in scanlations there is only newest chapter, I have to search for older releases anyway. And if I don't remember which group has scanlated chapters from 40-60 then it becomes annoying.
Also you have series on this site that don't have anything - no raw, no translation no scanlation (Desert Punk for example) but Monster you don't have...
Love the new upgrade.
well, better get use to it..
like it so far.. gr8 job!!
What you fail to realize is though, the site has been live for 2 days. Only Translations and Raws were uploaded prior to release. So it'll take a few days (perhaps weeks) for previous chapters to get uploaded. All chapters / releases everything can still be found here.
After you try finding everything in there, and then checking out something like: Psyren scans manga section or Psyren scans via download section let me know which way was better ^^;;
Put it back!
before it was like this...
visit latests release forum page where the newest chapts are posted by scanlator....newest obvioulsy first. click title see dl links provided by scanlator.
your done.
But now,
visite latest release "improved page"... new chapts listed, no scanlator info visible... click chapter title.. get new page full of info you may not be looking for, find the latest chapter you thought you were already clicking from that first page under scanlations and click it to get taken to a page by the scanlator... but still no links there, gotta click the "click here to download link... wich is still not a download link...get taken to a page with more stuff where can finally click the "Click here to be directed to your download (external link)"
wich takes you the scanlators forum/page where you can search all over again.
not the least bit of an improvement in terms of usablity.
