I have a Question on another thing though: Under My Favorites theres a number in brackets after every manga or scanlation group. What is that number for?

Still a question. It's tuesday now, new raws and scans can't be out of Bleach (and some more), but still i can see 3 of my favourite manga raws (including Bleach) which isn't the raw of this week of course.

So can there be some... time limit or something, that, for example for Bleach, that the link to the latest raws/scans/etc from the latest chapter will be removed at sunday or monday, so that the newest raw link can be shown at wednesday/thursday.

Because know each time i look at the shoutbox, i think that the newest chapter of this week is out (which isn't, it's the one from last week).

The link will stay there for a 5 days period, then it will be auto-removed, so no worries.

If by any chance, a new RAW is out while the old one is still in the shout, the newer RAW link will replace the old one. So you'll still have only the latest RAW displayed in the shoutbox for that particular manga (with the day count reset to 5 days).

What decides what scanlation shows up in the shoutbox for manga? I'm assuming it's taking whatever the last release was. If so, on top of that why not have groups your a fan of take priority in showing on the shoutbox over whatever is currently listed there.

Meaning if I have Naruto fanned, but no group fanned that does Naruto, then whatever the last released chapter released shows up in the shoutbox.

But if I had JapFlap fanned, then whenever JapFlap releases their chapter, that's the one that will be in the shoutbox, regardless of whatever group releases after them. And maybe if i have both JapFlap and Sleepyfans fanned, then both of their Naruto's show up in the shoutbox.

Just an idea on how to improve it.

Here's a qwibble: I probably never would have learned about Bakuman or Double Arts for example had they not been posted in the shoutbox. Is it possible to become a fan of a magazine? And if not, can we add that feature? Otherwise I'd probably have to ask that whenever a new series starts in shounen jump there's some sort of announcement made.. Thanks! Loving the new look!

It would probably be interesting to show first chapters (debuts) and oneshots in the shoutbox without being explicit subscribed to something or maybe over a subscription setting like "show me all starters and oneshots".

Personally I don't need the subscription function to my series, as I know when and where to look for releases. But I miss explicit news about first-time and one-time releases. Those were the ones that got special attention in the forums and shoutbox from us to push them and now they seem a little forgotten.

Well, you could always check out the new series (first chapter releases on MH) by going here (Download Manga > Latest Chapters - Filter: New). New series there are only listed there for a month, if I recall correctly.

What happens if I add more than 12 series as favorites? I don't want the shoutbox to explode :D.

I just left out 2 monthly titles out of my favorites but I was wondering what the behavior would be if I added them.

Nothing, really. It'd just queue up until a series finished its 5 day period and then appear after.

let me just say as a CS student, I found the overhauls to be quite amazing and useful. it feels like the site has evolved to "web 2.0" overnight. the one question i have is why is there a 12-series limit? it seems like an odd limit to me, considering the flexibility of the new design.

hey thanks finally able to get it. although i would like to see some recommended manga once in while. i miss the time when i would just try out random manga from the shoutboxes to see if they are good. i found some incredible manga that way. oh well.

Reason we limited it to 12 is because 12 x 3 rows can grow into a pretty long list... so to keep it moderate, we decided 12 was a big enough limit~

I have to second the thought that limiting the list to 12 like that is a bad move. I have 12 series in my favourites already, and the thought that adding any more series would mean risking arbitrarily not being updated on new releases is less than comforting.

I think most people who have 12 or more favourites would prioritise making sure they were updated on all their series over keeping the shoutbox compact. And if they really felt like keeping the shoutbox compact, simply choosing a different layout should be enough to accomplish that.

IMO, the limit should be either nonexistent or optional.

About the 12 limit on series, I agree with cnet since if someone does want to be kept updated on more than 12 they probably don't mind the space it takes up. Even if they did, they could just collapse it until the next time they check it so it'd be fine.

I don't understand. I've switched on to favourites some manga, then went to the shoutbox settings, switched to "Hidden Contest" and all I see is only RAWs. Why?
I can see the full list only if I enter my Profile
