For a short while now, I've known about a really great site to learn Japanese. While you can have fun learning Japanese at thejapanesepage.com, or a more structured approach at nihongoresources.com, the site iknow.co.jp really is an amazing and very effective site.

Imagine it as an interactive and social learning site using flashcards and various games to help you remember. All the while keeping track of your progress as you learn! And the best part of it, it's free!

So if you've made a resolution to learn Japanese this year, why not use this as an opportunity to get started? Not to say you should start translating right away though>.> try waiting a year or two first ;).

Thx njt, it seems like an amazing website. I'll be using that website to improuve my Japanese.

That way I won't have to wait for Translators but read directly from the Raw.

Thanks for publicising it! It's a brilliant way of learning. Maybe now I can finally get off the crutch that is kanji and learn the actual hiragana XD

Though I'm rather puzzled as to how the site remains free (which is by no means a bad thing).

Wow u kno the kanji but not the hiragana its that kinda backwards i find the kanji sooooooooooooo hard but hiragana easy katakan i cba lol

The site is very good,I've used it for a while now and I can say that its a very structured approach on learning Japanese. It is however probably a little hard on people who are not very familiar with Japanese in the beginning. Its best to supplement it with actual reading of language books and taking actual classes rather than relying too much on it.

Haha that's cuz I know Chinese, so kanji is pretty straightforward for me :)

I've been using this site for more than 4 months, and for the advanced student I don't think it's largely effective. Keep in mind it was created primarily for japanese speakers to learn english, so there's almost 10 times as much english quizzes as japanese. That being said, you can probably just do those english quizzes since you learn it backwards (??)

the main help on this site is the ability to make lists. if you can master that, then creating your own flash cards is very helpful.

but i prefer anki for that.

iKnow is a great resource, no matter your Japanese level. With 6000 vocab already, and more on the way, plus all the vocab entered in user lists... It's got all you need for vocab. Ever.

Personally, I'm starting to go through some of my favorite manga and entering in lists for each chapter. It's pretty time-consuming, but the iKnow listbuilder interface is pretty freaking good. I don't know how I'd improve on it.

Great website. I already learned all Katakanas and Hiraganas. I tried a couple of time with books or other websites, but I just couldn't keep it up... This time I was successful, and I am now learning words and kanjis in the "Japanese core step 1"...
Thanks for point out this awesome website Njt ! :)
