Nice Kimi ni Todoke made into an Anime. I can't wait. There are other "heavy" animes in popularity anounced. But Kimi ni Todoke is the one I am waiting for the most of the lot :).
Anyone notice the generic instrumental music in the FMA trailer?
I'm seeing (hearing?) this more and more in anime and it's enough to make me cry. What the hell happened to the catchy jrock and jpop? Naruto Shippuuden dropped all the badass music of Naruto for rather generic instrumental, then the new Hajime no Ippo did the same. Now we have Fullmetal Alchemist, a show famous for tying its rising popularity to hit singles from L'arc en Ciel - using crappy generic instrumental in an advertisement no less. If there were to be pop tracks in this new anime I'm 100% certain there'd be pop in the ad.
This trend is pure bullshit. Economy my FOOT. Naruto's freaking the most profitable anime out there right now and FMA was the most popular anime in all Japan during its reign. To suggest there simply isn't enough money to either re-license the old music or license up some new stuff is BULLSHIT.
"Anyone notice the generic instrumental music in the FMA trailer?"
I hope you're joking. What I hear in that short teaser are violins and classical music, and it isn't crappy.
And not compare it to what the Naruto music has become, please. :( If not for anything else, because of the new FMA score we only have a few seconds to judge, a little to lees, you must concede. ;)
The new FMA anime will have the score composed by Akira Senju, and even if the previous composer was great, the new one knows what he does too (he worked in few anime, but he made the music of many Japanese flms and J-drama).
After all, the music in that teaser is taken from the background music, not from an OP or ED.
Anyway, I can't wait for this new FMA. I still believe that the old anime series is a masterpiece, but the ending and the movie wasn't up to the rest for me, and I love the manga, which is the canon story, much more.
Instead, you could find interesting the translations of the interviews to the staff of the new anime, and to Arakawa sensei itself, here: http://csakuras.livejournal.com/487991.html
question - how are they able to make fma again, the title seems exactly the same? ain't it copyright? or am i missing the minute change?
EDIT - this question is about the physical title. Since the last one was "fullmetal alchemist", then this is not a copyright problem because they call it hagane no renkinjutsu in japanese, which is the same as fullmetal alchemist(??)
in my case, the anime was very good right after it veered off the manga. to be quite frank i did not enjoy the manga, but with its recent twists and action it's been better. i'm not a fan of arakawa's talking heads, so for a time i was turned off to fma. but i'm looking forward to a (hopefully) faster moving anime version which will keep my attention.
Awesome, FMA was the first anime I ever watched weekly from Japan back when it first came on in 04. I saw the Japanese commercials for this that BSS left in their subs of Gundam 00 but I thought it was simply them replaying the old series or a rehash movie like the last two One Piece movies. I'm very glad to hear otherwise. I've gotta echo shrimpy's sentiments by asking WTF is this? A reboot? A continuation five years in the making? A remake that follows the manga's storyline? Ah well, whatever it is, I'll be glad to see Ed and Al back in action.

ps - latest chapter is pretty good.

basically, is a new adaptation of the manga, but more faithful to it than the first one.
