International News Reporters Wanted

+ posted by njt in Site News on Sep 14, 2009 15:25

You've probably noticed the past few days I've been posting a lot more news lately. This is part of new and upcoming changes to the site to help make it a better community for everyone.

We pride ourselves in saying we have one of the most intercultural sites, with people getting manga translated into 36 different languages. Well today I'm asking those of you who are fluent in English and another language* to help inform the masses of manga and anime news from your area. I believe there's lots of information about anime and manga that is getting written about or featured in languages other than Japanese and English that I or many others would have no way of knowing about.

Starting is easy. First, some questions. Can you?
* Attend events in your area dealing with manga / anime.
* Translate news from your language into English.
* Provide special arrangements for possible interviews with official people dealing with manga / anime.
* Gather material from your local manga / anime store and reporting about that.
* Cover anything else that I haven't thought of in the above ↑

If so, then mail me.
(Keep in mind one time translations are welcomed too. Just send in your story with the source and I'll do the dirty work ;)

Pretty much anyone can be a reporter! The only strict requirement would be an above average understanding of English. (We don't want to be known as a site that reports wrong information ^^; )

Once I've gone over your "application", I'll show you what to do and we'll be all set.

Some good reasons for joining the news team would include getting your news read by millions of people every month, that warm fuzzy feeling for helping inform the community and possible invitations to events only staff can attend.

* If you feel like you can help me find more English news, I could use all the help I can get so be sure to volunteer ;)

Have you shown your appreciation today? Click the thanks button or write your appreciation below!

I wish I could help, but at the country of my residence & origin, there's nothing about manga or anime around at all. All the things we can obtain is from the Internet only. :-(

Nah ^^. The more news about the world and manga / anime events = the better for everyone. Hopefully we can be another reliable resource for ANN to include in their news reports :)

thats a great idea, because people like me don't undestand a lot the english, and can confuse the words, and We write so bad.

Why don't we all compose a list of cons? And maybe scale them, or indicate which ones are awesome, based on people who attended? Maybe this is a good way for some awesome (but new and obscure...) cons to get up and running. I don't know if anyone else is doing this, for the whole world...

I wanna, but there is a only a couple of manga/anime events and it's not held regularly. Though, I'll try to help you if there're manga/anime events in my region.

Nice, hope somebody from PL will help.
On the other hand: it's too much "news" on a&m, including conventions, new a&m releases, etc. Just too much I think in Poland - and picking the "favourites" would be meaningless. Someone just needs a hella of a time to deal with all that ^^' But maybe there is someone here, in PL, who has it, hyhy <3
