I dot not care about the Ipad. I'd rather wait for an HP/Dell/Lenovo/Gateway/Toshiba(u get my drift...) version of the Ipad. We all know how Apple likes to restrict their *censored*.

No shock with Apple on this. I heard their App store has so many restrictions it's rediculouse. I think theres such a stupid double standard which is why I hate apple. I have an android and I view my manga via the phone when I'm bored. I will be the first feew people getting the Android Tablet when it comes out. There are rumors that it will be unveiled this week or next. Notice that Apple has leaked their new Iphone 4G phone this week, sorta convinient so they can take the steam out of Googles News conference coming up.

I would love an Android tablet (to go with my Android phone) but I'd need to -see- Manga on it first. In Japanese.

I recently bought a Sony PRS300 for reading books and decided to try out a manga on it. 80% of the text was barely readable (in Japanese) and 20% was impossible... Unless you can read Kanji well. (I can't, yet. I still need the furigana.)

For English comics and manga, I'm sure it's a fine device and the Android pad will be even better.

Why should i care that apple are banning manga on iPad. i don't use it but since i can w/o any problem to read manga via wifi on my ipod touch it doesn't concern me. and bleach/naruto movies are still in itunes so anyone can buy/rent them. they are not banning anything. it requires credit card to sign in itunes so people are 18 or above so it means i can watch what i want including porn.

p.s. americans are pathetic when you mention what is healthy or not for kids/young teens/teens and young adults. when you hit 18 you can go kill and die in any war but can't drink alcohol or enter a strip club. how stupid is that

There is a major difference between violence and nudity that is "for storytelling", "for fanservice" and "just because we want to"...creators have a right to write what they want to and I think that there need to be safeguards to this instead of just saying "no way" by a company, even a monolith like Apple.

The iPhone also a dumb mobile phone. The first generation was not even able to make videos however there was a lot of cheaper models what can even 640x480 or 720x480. And the latest generation still dumb. Jobs is a good lier and the people believe him.

Support Android and other open source-related stuff instead of this piece of... And firstly think about again if you truly need a tablet or not.

If Sony launched a thing like this, it would surely allow people to read the japanese manga without being censored. As for apple they just don't budge, and so their products are only bought by people who have followed their merchandise till this far.

As for me i won't buy any of these techs, because you never know what will appear tomorrow...

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a stronger outcry against violence and mature situations in manga? There's this new incident with the Ipad, but even beyond that, both America and cities in Japan are making new laws restricting various forms of manga (mostly porn-related). My personal opinions on that particular issue aside, it seems interesting that all of this is happening in the same year. Perhaps Apple is jumping on the same boat as those politicians?

They need to go through all images and look for mature content and then clean it up or whatever (some may even get suspended forever). Working with Verizon on it? Not so good...

Verizon is known for locking down their hardware as much or more than Apple. Maybe not in the censorship aspect. But definitely in ways to screw the consumer out of functionality or make them pay more buying through official Verizon sources.

My old RAZR couldn't offload photos without paying for the Verizon multimedia kit and using their terrible software. It also refused to even charge off a non-Verizon Mini-USB>>USB cable. And they had firmware locked-out the sounds menu so you could only have ringtones bought from their store. Yet my brother's RAZR through US Cellular didn't have such restrictions...

Currently there is an iPad from china, but just a copy it's called aPad and runs on google android os 1.5 cost only $169.. =)

Apple has a good reason to be jerks, after all, they make cutting edge tech without having to have hardware-->software problems. They make good stuff even though you may think it is overpriced. Although I do like Windows 7 better (yes, it is a sweet piece of operating system), the Mac has many good points in the OS. And also, the ever so dominant Microsoft has control of the computer market (and with good reason to as well).

But here's the thing: popular anime and manga started with violence (and later ecchi). Think about it... Astro Boy was a violent series, Mobile Suit Gundam was another violent series, and even the ever so popular Dragon Ball Z was violent. Then came Love Hina and Inu-Yasha, which has NOT ONLY VIOLENCE, but ECCHI situations as well! Now if all the violent and sexual series were taken out, there would virtually be no series at all! And I'm not just talking about the popular ones, there would literally be almost no series at all (that includes stuff such as Yakitate!! Japan [violence in some episodes, and possibly semi-nudity). Argue all you want, Jobs, but that means taking on a whole industry.

Now then, Android, you are a friend in the manga industry! Customizable, user friendly, and for the GoogleHolics, the iPhone after all isn't even worth the pocket lint that it sits on! (derived from a US Radio Ad) After all, Apple HATES Hackintoshes [hacked Macintosh].
