Hello everyone! It's once again time to interview one of our Seasonal Art Contest Winners. However, before we get to that, I would just like to remind everyone that the Winter Art Contests as well as two very special contests:
Facebook Banner & the
Facebook/Twitter Buttons are currently going on. So, if you are interested, please head over to the
Art Contest section and check them out. :thumbs
Now with that shameless plugs are out of the way ;) it's time to get to the real point of this news post and that's to introduce everyone to avantasian. He won the Advanced Coloring contest with this piece:
1.Please introduce yourself to us!Hi, my name is Stam, and i'm from Greece.I would like to start by thanking all the people who voted for my piece, and those who are spending some time to read this interview. Finally i want to thank my fellow competitors for such good competition. I believe the MH art contests entries get better and better each time.
2.Have you participated in any Arts Contests before? No actually thats the first contest i participated in. I tried to participate on one of your previous contests but i missed the deadline
3. Was your piece created specifically for the contest? Tell us about the process! This piece was not just created for this contest, but also inspired by it. Hence the autumn theme. You have my gratitude to you for inspiring me.
4. Any tips for our aspiring artists?Feel what you are drawing. If you draw something happy be happy, if something sad, be sad. Act the role and become the character.
5. Which is the mangaka that inspires you most? Why?Style wise i have to go with Obata Takeshi (Death Note) and Yoon Joon-shik (Veritas) I think they are both amazing artists. I really look up to their linework. Plot wise i'll go cliche and say Kishimoto as Naruto is one of my favorite stories at the moment.
6. Where did you learn and how did you begin to draw/color/write manga?I'm self taught, its something i was always interested in so it was just a process of trial and error. Seeing, doing and trying. (and reading lots of tutorials )
7. Are you satisified with your artwork? What are you trying to accomplish/improve?No, I cant say i am 100% satisfied with my level of skill yet. I hope i dont sound arrogant but I'm sure i can do better. There is plenty of room for improvement. At least i think its good to know were you lack.
8. How do you like the MH community so far?MH is one of the best communities around on the subject. Its activity is proof of its quality!
9. Leave a message for the fellow users!I always have trouble with closing things, so i'll leave it with a cliffhanger. See ya in the winter competition.....
Very nice interview~ I totally agree with you on Q4. ;) I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work on MH in the near future. Keep up the awesome work(s)! =)
