Madoka Sales May Surpass Evangelion 
Madoka DVDs are running out of stock all over Japan and the internet, and sales are slated to reach the magical 100,000. The DVDs and Blu-ray Discs of newly-completed TV anime "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" have proved themselves to be hot favorites. The first DVD went on sale on the 27th and immediately shops ran out of stock. Online stores were not spared either, as Amazon and others also quickly ran out of stock of the popular DVDs. Many people are speculating if the first week sales will reach 100,000 copies. This magical number of 100,000 is a number usually only attainable by movie DVDs, and would be a record-breaking event for a late-night anime such as this. In fact, if "Madoka" can reach that number, it will be the next huge hit TV anime series after "Neon Genesis Evangelion" to accomplish such a feat.

Chinese Hate "Death Note" and "Bleach" Anime the Most 
Survey shows that while most have no most hated anime, the series with the most haters were "Death Note", "Bleach" and "Initial D". As the next survey of the recent surveys of mainland Chinese on the anime and manga habits, this time respondents were asked about their most hated anime. Perhas unsurprisingly, nearly half of them responded that they did not have a particular anime that they disliked. However, among the titles that were ranked the highest (most hated), "Death Note" and "Bleach" were the winners. 3000 people were surveyed and they were given 45 anime titles to choose from.
Here are the results:
- No particular series ... 47.7%
- Death Note ... 6.1%
- Bleach ... 5.8%
- Initial D ... 5.5%
- Kuroshitsuji ... 5.2%
- Chibi Maruko-chan ... 4.7%
- Crayon Shin-chan ... 4.7%
- Captain Tsubasa ... 4.5%
- Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion ... 4.4%
- Sailormoon ... 4.4%
- K-ON! ... 4.2%
Both "Death Note" and "Bleach" revolve around shinigami and evil spirits, while "Initial D" is about street racers. "Kuroshitsuji" has two pretty boys as the main characters, so it has a largely female fanbase. "Death Note" was also perceived as having a negative impact on the Chinese youths, and was thus the target of regulations in 2007. Still, the fact that it needed to have regulations placed on it shows that it had a certain amount of popularity.
Breaking down the results by genders, the anime guys disliked the most was "Chibi Maruko-chan" and "Initial D" (both 6.1%), with "Bleach" in third at 5.7%. Meanwhile girls hated "Death Note" (7.0%), "Bleach" (6.0%) and Kuroshitsuji (5.2%). On the contrary, the three series that ranked the lowest (least hated) were: all anime by Hayao Miyazaki (2.1%), "Doraemon" (2.0%) and "Detective Conan" (1.7%).
