Overseas Anime Fans Cosplay to Fundraise 
Anime fans in Argentina donned costumes from their favorite anime to raise funds for the victims of the Tohoku Earthquake. Youths in Argentina took to the streets on the 8th, decked out in anime cosplays to ask for donations for the Tohoku Earthquake victims. The group of anime fans carried out this donation drive in the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires, and the 60 of them wore various costumes from popular anime such as "My Neighbor Totoro".
They carried signs that said "All the best, Japan" in Spanish as well as donation boxes and walked around the heart of the city asking for donations for an hour. Many passers-by and shop keepers were game to donate to their cause. A 25-year-old male participant said, "I thought it would be nice if I could do something so simple as this to help those affected by the earthquake. To everyone in Japan, all the best."
There have also been fundraising efforts by fans of Japanese anime in the neighboring South American countries of Chile and Bolivia, and all the money they have collected will go to the Japanese Red Cross in aid of the earthquake victims.
