PREVIEW NIGHT!!!
For those few lucky enough to have tickets for Preview night, they will not be disappointed. The wonderful night tradition continues where attendees have the chance to see plenty of goodies before the rest of the world, and enjoy previews; with this year having CW's Arrow on show, as well as JJ Abrams' Revolution. Also there will be an advance screening of Dredd exclusive to Comic-con.
Movies
From The Avengers short film you may not have heard about, to the big blockbusters of 2012, the movie panels are always some of the most looked forward to for this convention and from hearing the gossips and reading articles for the past few days, it seems it's going to be quite an exciting one. Here are some movie panels to expect:
- The Hobbit
To prepare and celebrate its coming to the Con, Peter Jackson has released a 10 scene scroll of the film exclusive to EW. On the site, you can use the magnifier to take a closer look at the images and details in it. Here is a still version:
Not to be outdone, Christopher Nolan released a 13 minutes behind the scene Featurette, with thoughts from the cast of the boundaries pushed in this story and the legacy that is the Dark Knight.
sidenote: The movie's soundtrack is available for listen in its entirety here on DigitalSpy.
Other panels to look forward to that will cause awe and excitement are Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, Django Unchained and Oz the Great and Powerful. EW has previewed some of the highly anticipated titles coming to Comic-con, so have a quick read as to who to expect and what surprises may be in store.
Many will be excited to hear that George Martin will once again be moderator for the Game of Thrones panel:
Quote:
Game of Thrones panel in Hall H will be moderated for the second year by George R.R. Martin. Martin is the author of the bestselling fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire, which the HBO drama is based on, and also serves as a co-executive producer on the series. The panel will include: Carolyn Strauss, executive producer of Game of Thrones, and cast members (in alphabetical order): Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark) and Richard Madden (Robb Stark). Executive producers David Benioff & D.B. Weiss will not be in attendance, as they are in production in Belfast, Northern Ireland.- EW
Community will also be coming around, but with Dan Harmon this time. Sad as it may be, hope you still tune in and catch up with the rest of the fabulous cast, including Ben Chang. Other not be missed panels include The Walking Dead, Fringe, Vampire Diaries, The Legend of Korra and many more.
Also to note that Marvel Television will be returning with Jeph Loeb hosting the panel and bringing a ton of goodies, previews and exclusives including Ultimate Spider-Man.
Much buzzed about Before Watchmen; the comic series made without Alan Moore's consent which subsequently rose to have quite the fandom in the comic world will be at the Con. This could be an entertaining one, so keep a watch for this.
UDON is working with Marvel to bring to the convention Marvel vs. Capcom: Official Complete Works; a 100+ pages of of art from every collaboration between the comics company and the Street Fighter people, from the Punisher arcade game to Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.
Quote:
This comprehensive tome, due out in November in softcover format, is a comprehensive art history of everything Marvel's done with Capcom since the beginning of time. The Punisher, X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men Vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Vs. Capcom, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, and Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3; when UDON says comprehensive, they mean comprehensive.
Both companies have worked closely together to provide rare high qualities images from decades to the present. This tome will be priced at $100, which considering all the sketches, every character bios, concept art and promotional works, is a good price methinks.
Capcom has revealed plans to hold “Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Celebration" where a few lucky fans will be chosen to participate in a trivia contest and have a chance to win prizes. With the arrival of Resident Evil 6; Capcom's latest and most ambitious game to date will have a panel to include trailers, demos and Q&As from the production team. Here is something though that caught our attention:
Quote:
The World of CAPCOM! – Moderator Francis Mao (CAPCOM) leads a panel of Capcom's producers and product managers to share trailers and sneak peeks of all the hot, new upcoming CAPCOM games featuring Resident Evil 6, DmC, Lost Planet 3, Street Fighter X Tekken (PS Vita) and more! Plus, a few surprises! Followed by a Q&A session
As for Microsoft, seems they are aiming to really push and have Halo 4 at the forefront of their line up at the Con, on top of trailers and previews, the public will be able to try out the game at the Xbox booth. The Xbox Lounge hosted by The Hard Rock will have a whole list of games for attendees to delve into including Forza Horizon, Fable: The Journey, Dance Central 3, Assassin’s Creed III, Resident Evil 6, Borderlands 2, Hitman: Absolution, Sleeping Dogs, Deadlight, Wreckateer, and more. Xbox will be hosting 3 panels in addition to those already in the exhibition floor, these are Halo 4: A New Campaign, The Fiction of Halo 4 and Gears of War: Past, Present and Future.
To share or receive updates and discuss the goings on of the convention, head over to the SDCC thread where anything we've missed out here will be mentioned there and you can join in the fun!
We will also be having (hopefully) daily reports from current and former Mangahelpers staff Sai_the_Shaman and sahugani, who will give us an insight into their daily outings and what interesting stuff they have seen.
