Kaiten: Fans of the Monogatari series will instantly recognize Nekomonogatari; nothing has changed, the series is still as great as ever. The familiar wordplay, irreverent humor, quick cut animation, and eccentric characters are all on full display, this time ostensibly in order to discuss love in all it's vague glory. Based on the sixth book of NisiOisiN's (Medaka Box) Monogatari series, Nekomonogatari will cover the Tsubasa Family Arc, and feature Hanekawa Tsubasa. Not for the uninitiated, it is advisible for new fans to watch
Bakemonogatari and
Nisemonogatari first. As a long time fan though, I've been looking forward to Nekomonogatari from the moment it was announced. Generally I will watch anything new by SHAFT without recommendation or review, my favorite studio, along with Kyoto Animation. Along with Madoka Magica, Bakemonogatari is SHAFT's best anime franchise. Nekomonogatari aired in Japan on New Years Eve as a two hour feature, divided into four parts, airing back to back from 10pm to midnight.
