+ posted by c_k in Manga News on Oct 23, 2008 05:35
Kuriousity recently revealed a list of 230 manga that needed to be removed from scanlators' and download sites sent out in February by Tokyopop Germany and has checked which of the following have yet to be licensed and found out that all have been licensed except for the following 27 manga:

1. .hack//Alcor
2. Acony
3. Akuma to Dolce
4. Amatsuki
5. Ashita no Yoichi!
6. Baroque
7. Carat!
8. Eensy Weensy Monster
9. Far East
10. Futari Ecchi for Ladies
11. Ga-rei
12. Hana to Akuma
13. Harlem Beat wa Toaki made
14. HaruHana
15. High School of the Dead
16. Karakuri Odette
17. Kiss and Never Cry
18. Koori no Mamono no Monogatari
19. Metal Heart
20. Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam
21. Saiunkoku Monogatari
22. Saiyuki Gaiden
23. Seikon no Qwaser
24. The Rose of Versailles
25. Tokyo Underground
26. Yamada Taro Monogatari
27. Yasashii Ryuu no Koroshikata

I guess scanlators should be wary of scanlating these manga. Well, either that or quickly finish scanlating it before the manga is officially licensed. If you want to see the complete list, then click here.

I wish tokyopoop would stop mass-licensing things and then stopping them halfway through -_-

Edit: I also wish that instead of licensing part of a series, theyd do either all of them or none.

Screw all those other titles, if they do Crossbone Gundam, I will be one happy camper.

Also remember, this means these series could end up frozen on One Manga when Tokyo Pop gets them, so if you're reading these series through them, be prepared for you to get cut off from them.

Please keep in mind, I am not a representative of OM, but I'm just speaking to prescident Tokyo Pop set on that site over the summer.

I don't live in states, which makes it really hard for me to buy manga. as such, I always look with vary eyes at licensing various manga. I absolutely hate it when a dear manga of mine is stopped being scanlated halfway through just because it got licensed in the US. :(

I don't really mind otherwise. authors should get paid for what they do and we love. I will buy all of it when I will be able to. until then, keep them scanlations up, thank you very much! :)

I'm annoyed when they license something I like... Then never publish it(or never finish it...) >.< We all know only a couple dozen of these will be available in the near future and some of them won't be out for years...

Also wasn't Tokyo Pop phasing out their import and shifting to Original material

lol this sucks big time.... they need to get their act straight before pissing off everyone from stopping to buy their stuff. how the he(( do they expect people to find any loyal customers if they dont finish what they start.. if they're gonna do it, they should do it right the first time, from start to finish. THATS NOT A LOT TO ASK FOR!!

Some of the titles were no brainers but I didn't realize some were licensed. I do agree w/some of the other comments here. Publishers need to freakin get the stuff out if they are going to license manga that I read. If too much time goes by I lose interest.

Tokyo Underground!? GOOD GOD, I don't even CARE that it's by Tokyo Pop, I'm just happy it's coming out!

But then again, their recent track record leaves me wondering if any of these will just be stuck in licensing limbo with no release for three years before they just disappear.... Nwargh. Double-edged swooord.

IT is great that this mangas get license. Because it will help out the industry of manga if they get great sells. People if you really enjoyed this mangas, please show your support by buy them. And don't use that lame excuse that you don't live in the States. You are using the damn internet please. There are hundreds or thousands of website that sell this manga for a great price. Such as http://www.rightstuf.com or www.animecastle.com So stop your crying and start supporting your favorite anime/manga.
It is true that sometimes this mangas takes time to come out completely, that's sometimes out of the hands of the one that buys the liscense, they have to go out thru many legal works. So people show your support to the anime/manga industry.

Since I live in Sweden, where they don't really translate mangas (not that I'd like to read them in Swedish though), and there's not really anyone trying to sell any either. I'd have to buy them all the way from the USA. But the shipping literally costs more than the manga I'm buying. I'm not going to pay that much extra for it. And also, the manga artist would only get a small fraction on the money I'd pay. The price is already increased alot from licensing and translation, paying even more just to ship some paper across the Atlantic is just stupid.

And as a further argument to dislike TokyoPop is that they are so damn slow on translating the mangas. Instead of just shutting down all scanlators, they should PAY them for doing the job THEY AREN'T doing. In the end Scanlators > TokyoPop in both speed and looks.

I'm not going to pay TokyoPop a penny for the jobs they're not doing while they're shutting down the people willing to do it for free. In the end, the manga artist wouldn't get a penny for a translation that doesn't exist.

I'm very much for supporting the manga artists. But it goes against my principles to pay someone like TokyoPop for a poorly done job.

But if one people like that, that doesn't buy manga get multiply, then many people will start doing the same. In the end no one will buy it and then there will be no support for the Manga, even if the mangaka receive a little from each manga; it will end in a nice sum in the end with many mangas sold. There are many other places where they ship and you can buy it for less price and less shipping. It is the internet, don't use lame excuse not to buy something. If you didn't know, many of the anime/manga industry depends many on their international sales. If they don't sell well outside of Japan they will consider it as a flop. Tokyopop must do what they do. Because they are protecting the right of what they have invested money. True that sometimes this things go overboard; but with the change of time that copyrights can't be a protected as it use to be, different methods must be in us. So if you really enjoy the manga, please show your support. ^_^
