On May 14th, FUNimation talked about
announcing a simulcast for One Piece to air on the 30th. But right before their glorious debut a hacker compromised their server! Thus causing the simulcast to fail, and could probably hinder a lot of series getting the same treatment because of it.
Here's a quote of the
official news post.
Quote:
As anime fans know, FUNimation Entertainment and Toei Animation had planned
for the first ever online simulcast of the series ‘One Piece' tonight at
9:00 pm CDT., just one hour after its premiere on Japan's Fuji Television.
Unfortunately, in the last 24 hours we have determined that the FUNimation
servers were compromised, even though we employ strict security standards.
An unknown individual accessed and posted episode 403 online and as a direct
result of this illegal act, all U.S. and Canadian fans will be deprived of
access to this great anime series for the immediate future. We will make every effort to locate and prosecute the perpetrator(s)to the fullest extent of the law and will provide updates regarding this most serious matter.
What do you members think of this event? Think it'll hinder the future of anime distribution?
I for one am pretty ticked off. I was hoping that with this new simulcast more people would get a chance to experience the awesome anime, One Piece. But they've just lost their chance... for now at least. We'll keep you posted if new news of this event arises.
The announcement was on the 14th announcing the future airing of it on the 30th ^^;. I edited the news post to make it more obvious. But I believe if the ep was up today, it was the hackers doing, no?
So that's why you asked me for the permalinks~~
For a moment I was afraid that something happened to Oda sensei. But if it's about anime and Fucknimation, I don't give a damn.
who cares?
its anime
*hides*
p.s. dont ever scare me like that about one piece again!!!
also wheres that picture from, manga cover art, ive never seen i love it
EDIT: Can't you just be FUCKING happy someone even subs one piece. NO one in the fansub community is ever satisfied with what they get. "I want HD" "I want Blue ray". Damn scanlation is so much better. People are just happy when a series gets translated.
Not to mention it's morally wrong; when you like something, respect it. I sincerely think Oda's work is a masterpiece and it deserves to be shown all around the world, how selfish and rude it is to prevent its spreading to a wider English-speaking audience who probably will not hear of mangas otherwise. That's the kind of reason that make us manga-fans look like isolated and marginal, if only more people actually knew how good it is... And I'm not even mentioning the respect to Funi, who do the same job as us, but have the legitimacy to, and bear us even though they don't have to.
well..i don't even live there ..so i don't really cares about it
PS. One piece manga owns anime

Anyone want to take bets if they're going to find him?
As illustrated in the link provided by Hyperworm, their 'strict security measures' were practically non-existent. The person didn't 'hack' the website. They simply downloaded a file from the website. Anyone could have done it if they knew the easily guessed file name location.
I've read more articles on the subject and, well... Have to admit it's obvious Funi's security standards are severely lacking. They have a lot of responsibility in this business, I'd even say they're over-reacting seeing just how faultive they are themselves. But still, doesn't change the fact having hacked that episode is stupid crap and the kind of thing that kills fansub.
