There's a special event at Harajuku starting tomorrow commemorating the premiere of the anime Kimi ni Todoke!
What: Kimi ni Todoke Hijacks Harajuku
Where: Harajuku Takeshita Doori (原宿・竹下通り)
When: September 14th - 27th
Why: Celebrating the anime, of course!
Harajuku's Takeshita Street will be renamed "Chokkyuu no Kotoba Street" or "Straightforward Sayings Street" where you can read words of wisdom from the main character Sawako on banners as well as various ink stamp pads for an extremely popular event in Japan called a "stamp rally" where you visit various booths and collect stamps in a booklet.
Around 40 stores are helping with the event by passing out manga booklets, event maps and Ema cards. By collecting over 5 stamps and going to the Design Festa Gallery East's "Kimi ni Todoke" area, you can get 5 postcards. You can write your "Special thought for someone" on the
Ema card and place it in the "Kimi ni Todoke" area for all to see.
They'll also be showing the anime on a big TV in the entrance of the JR Harajuku station and the Yamashita book store will change its name to "Kimi ni Todoke Book Store" and will be having a book fair. The store Oyatsu Cafe Kaho will change its name to "Kimi ni Todoke Cafe" and the hair salon "Perms Hair 81" will change its name to "Kimi ni Todoke Beauty Salon" as well as offer special services.
Kimi ni Todoke has sold over 7 million volumes and is up to volume 9 (which was just released on the 11th). The anime will premiere on October 6th. I'll also be participating in the Harajuku event tomorrow to bring you pictures of the event for those of you who can't join ^^;. For those of you who are going, send me a
PM and maybe we can meet up for a drink or some
ramen :D.
