Shueisha and Toriyama Akira's YouTube Video in Aid of Quake Victims Receives over 1,000,000 Worldwide All proceeds from the video posted on Youtube will go to the earthquake victims. In just three days, the video entitled "Todoke! Minna no Genkidama ~ Gokuu to Arare no Ouen Messeeji" (Reach! Everyone's Spirit Bomb ~ Gokuu and Arare's message of support), which is "Dragon Ball" and "Dr. Slump" mangaka Toriyama Akira's message of support for the Touhoku earthquake victims, received over a million hits worldwide. In fact, within 11 hours (10am - 9pm on the 19th), the number of hits increased by 50,000. The number of comments also exceeded 2000.
All proceeds from the playback of the video will be donated to the earthquake victims. The series "Dragon Ball" boasts international popularity, and the use of this series in this fundraising attempt was aimed at garnering support from all over the world. The results were evident as there were many comments from overseas such as, "Genkidama from FRANCE :)" written in English and other foreign languages.
"Genkidama" is a technique whereby power is gathered from various people and amalgamated into a single sphere to be released as a finishing move. Even in the series itself, there are scenes depicting the character Goku using this move and gathering power from the entire human race.
