Instead, if it is used by a girl, it express her will not be “girlish”. Therefore, when a girl uses “boku” she sounds like a tomboy. As nagisa is more girlish than the majority of the girls out there, you can understand why yuuji is surprised. For example if karma was a girl, he/she would surely use “boku”.\\
