I wrote exactly the same thing "sliding the enemy's sword off" in my script and got it changed to "distributed the force" by my proofreaders. All of my proofreaders were against me using "sliding the enemy's sword off" even though I did try to defend it. All of them said that it sounded weird in English or American English.
Can you shed some light on the matter for me?

- if he is stronger than yourself by distributing the force and keeping contact between the swords
- if you are stronger , you slide by overpowering
though evade is actually where you dont make contact , parry/block(the attack) is where you escape with making contact
1. Use the pictures. In page 11 panel 6 Gama begins to "slide" his blade along the other blade. Also, the SFX (ギャァァ) would support this as well. Then in panel 1 on page 12 you can clearly see the path of his blade and the Muhou guy's blade being moved aside.
2. Look at the actual verbs being used.
滑らす - (translated from my electronic dictionary) To do something so that something slips/slides. To make slip/slide.
いなす - (translated from my electronic dictionary) 1: in sumo, applying sideways force to the top of a charging opponent's shoulder while suddenly moving aside, thereby disrupting their "ready state/stance". 2: To handle an opponent's attack by evading/avoiding it. 3: To make leave. To drive away. (There's more, but they're irrelevant to this discussion).
Where from this can "distributing force" be obtained through even loose interpretation? There is absolutely no linguistic cue to prompt such a translation. Additionally, there is very little to suggest it from the pictures. While I will concede that the translation I arrived at is not the easiest to understand (and therefore could be improved) it is at least true to the original and supportable with both linguistic and situational context.
As for Tira's comment, the problem lies in the first definition of the word "inasu" where you make contact AND sidestep. I then chose "evade" because that's what he does: he avoids getting hit by the blow by sliding his sword off of his opponents' and pushing it away. The other definitions of the word "inasu" (see 2 and 3 above) support this analysis.
