In turn he is supported in secret by those who are anti-Sadasada.
And there seems to be talk of making his son Nobunobu into the next shogun.
So in short Lord Sadasada is siccing stray dogs on his political enemies and then putting them out to pasture with them.
A level of formalness like this is necessary to crush one of the three Tokugawa family branches isn't it?
Originally they were mere fodder for the patriots.
It seems that the higher ups now see them as sacrificial lambs rather than dogs.
