The reason for that was the use of Demon Contracts
「人間ではなく悪魔に戦わせる」　その戦争を人は『代理契約戦争』と呼んだ
It was said the war was fought by demons, not humans, and so it came to be called the War of the Contract

何処の国のものかもわからない悪魔たちが入り乱れ国境の街は破壊し尽くされた
Not knowing which nation they belonged to, demons ran amok in border areas, utterly destroying frontier settlements

終戦を迎え　大陸ではこの契約は禁忌となり
After the war ended, the Contract became taboo on the Continent
大陸を崩壊寸前まで追いやった悪魔契約はこうして消滅したのだが。。。
