Himeko: Well, I'm sure not watchin' it!!! / Somethin' creepy will totally come out!!!
Bossun: Like what?!!
Himeko: It'll be all, like, "uuuughhhh..." draggin' itself out and stuff! / Just like that, you know?!!
Bossun: What the hell?!
Himeko: I mean, forget bad luck or whatever, this is a totally different level!! / We could die, ya know?!
Bossun: Die? / Why the...? // ...Ahh, forget it, just shaddup!! If you don't wanna watch, that's fine!! We'll just watch this thing without you!!
Himeko: Oh, don't act all high an' mighty!! If I leave, who's gonna fight it off?!!!
Bossun: "It"?!!
Kuramoto: But I must admit, it feels a little awkward... // Just watching something that belongs to Yagi-chan like this...
Bossun: Well... well, yeah, that would be kinda awkward... Seeing her in a swimsuit without her even knowing about it...

Bossun: All right! It's decided! I'll take one for the team and watch this thing by myself!! Everybody out of the room!!
Himeko: You're so brave, Bossun!!! I'm seein' you in a whole new light!!
Yoshimura: What's this? I wondered what all the commotion was... so there are students hanging around, huh?
Kuramoto: Yoshimura-sensei!
Yoshimura: Hmm... / A cursed DVD, huh...? // That's a rather difficult tale to believe all of a sudden, but it certainly does sound like this is why Yagi's upset... // ............ // Shall we watch it?
Himeko: Huuuh?!
Bossun: Huh? Uh, yeah... // Let's watch it... right?
Switch: I hope you are prepared, Sensei...
Bossun/Himeko: And what the hell are YOU imagining?!!!

Chapter 16: You Watched It, Didn't You
[insert text: The forbidden DVD is about to play............?!]
Bossun: Well... here goes.

Bossun: !!! // What the...?!!
Yoshimura: Th... this is...! // It's the questions for tomorrow's midterm test!!

Himeko: Huuh?!
Switch: They certainly would appear to be exam questions.
Everyone: Could this... // ...possibly mean... // CHEATING...?!!!
Himeko: It looks like somebody sneaked into the staff room... / This must've been taken while the teachers were out of the room...
Bossun: And recording it on film is quicker than taking photos or making photocopies...
Kuramoto: Then... / Did Yagi-chan...?

Switch: Year 2, Class E, Yagi Kaoru. She was cast under suspicion of cheating in her first year.
Bossun: Seriously?!!
Himeko: No way!!
Yoshimura: That's a rumour I've heard myself... // But I'm sure you'd know more about it than me, right, Kuramoto?
Kuramoto: ............... // Yes, that certainly happened. // Last year, there was a rumour among the girls in our class. / Even the teachers got wind of it... it was a bit of a scandal. // People started to say that the only reason she got such good grades was because she cheated.

Kuramoto: Of course, Yagi-chan herself denied everything... // She doesn't talk very much in general, so she didn't say much more than that. // And from then on, people stopped talking to her either... slowly but surely, she became isolated. // Of course, I didn't believe a word of it! // But... now I come to think of it... / About three days ago... // When I went to the Media Room to see Yagi-chan... // She seemed to panic for a second and hide something in her bag.
Yoshimura: And for the past couple of days, she's seemed rather uncomfortable in lessons, so I started to worry about her... // So this is what she was hiding...
Bossun: The thing she was hiding... // That nobody must ever see... // Cheating...

Yagi: You watched it, didn't you.
Bossun: Yagi-chan!!!
Yoshimura: Yagi!! // But why?!! // Why would you do something like this...?

Kuramoto: ...It's okay! / You just gave in to temptation for a moment, didn't you! // That's all, right?! // Sensei... you know she gets good grades without doing any of this anyway!! // Please...! You mustn't tell anybody...!!
Yoshimura: B...... // But..... // ......... // All right. // I won't tell any of the staff about this.
Kuramoto: Sensei...!!
Yoshimura: Yagi. / I know perfectly well just how much effort you put into your work, both in lessons and your club activities. // I've heard of people shoplifting because of stress from overwork... I daresay this cheating may be a similar case. / You must just be worn out.

Kuramoto: Yagi-chan!!
Bossun: Himeko!
Himeko: Wait up!

Yoshimura: Yeah... // After all, recently your grades have been a fair way above hers... / Perhaps in her own way, she was just getting a little frustrated. // And I didn't even realise how she was feeling. // This is my fault, really.
Himeko: (That's... Yagi-san...)

Flashback!Students: Hey, I hear she got top marks in the midterm test! // And she's not bad-looking, either, huh? I hear there are a hell of a lot of guys who'd love to have a chance with her... / Man... // Hey... isn't that the girl who hardly ever talks? // Huh... she always looks kinda like she's looking down on you, though, it's kinda nasty...
Flashback!Yagi: Cheating?! // I didn't do anything like that!!
[TN: Oh, no, not you again.]
Flashback!Jougasaki: Hey, I'm not suspecting you or anythin'. / I'm just tellin' you what people are sayin'. // But there are a hell of a lot of people sayin' it...
Flashback!Yagi: ............!!
Flashback!Teacher: Ah... Yagi. // Could you come with me for a moment, please?

Bossun: So, this is where you were.
Yagi: !
Bossun: Good work, Himeko.
Yagi: What do you want?
Switch: Regarding the incident in the second semester of last year, in which Yagi Kaoru was suspected of cheating on the midterm test... // It was later proven that the rumour was started by a fellow student, and had no basis in fact.
Bossun: Didn't you deny the rumours?

Yagi: Of course I did. // But nobody ever believed me... / So I stopped.
Bossun: Well, you're an easily misunderstood sort of person. // And I daresay this time is just a little misunderstanding too, isn't it?
Yagi: I didn't...!
Bossun: We'll believe you. // If you're finally going to start believing in us... // Then we'll believe you.
Yagi: ...............

Yagi: I've never cheated at anything in my life. // Not even once. // That DVD... I just picked it up by chance. // Three days ago, I went to the Media Room to work on my editing, and it was just lying there on the desk.

Yagi: I thought it might be one of my own DVDs, so I loaded it up... // ...But of course, what was on there was the questions for the test. // That was when Kura-chan came into the room... // I panicked, and quickly stuffed the DVD into my bag... // And I ended up taking it home like that. // But I promise you! I never looked at the DVD once since that first time!
Bossun: But then, why didn't you tell anybody?
Yagi: I found this note in my locker when I went home.

DO NOT WATCH the DVD.
DO NOT TELL anybody about it.
IF YOU DO, YOU'LL BE THE ONE THEY SUSPECT.

Bossun: ...So that's what it was. // The real culprit used the suspicions against you from last year to their advantage, to make sure you wouldn't tell anyone.
Yagi: And they were absolutely right... I was too scared to do a thing. // I couldn't tell anybody about it... // I was too scared that just like last time, nobody would believe me...

Yagi: I thought about handing the DVD in to the school... / I thought about telling Yoshimura-sensei, or Kura-chan... // But in the end I was too scared to do anything. // I thought if this got out, I'd have to endure everybody staring at me behind my back again... // And also... / I was so ashamed of having seen the questions that were recorded on the DVD. // Even though I had been studying and studying so hard, once I'd seen the questions, it was like all that work had been for nothing...
Himeko: Of course... / Once you've seen it, that's it...
Bossun: All right, we get the picture. // You can leave the rest to us!

Yagi: ............ / Thank you. // But... this has nothing to do with any of you. / If you get yourselves involved, you'll just fall under suspicion too...
Himeko: Oh, don't worry about that! // This is a request from a client! / She asked us to help cheer you up, right?
Switch: If there's one despicable thing in this world, it's taking advantage of another person's trauma to hide your own crimes.
Bossun: We're gonna make sure we catch the bastard who did this. // And when we do... // How about you show us a smile for once?
