Yakitate!! Japan 220
The strength of a magician
-> RTS Page for Yakitate!! Japan 220
The strength of a magician
same as the last page, plus kawachi saying “What'd you say!?” (big surprise)
P134
M: Kawachi-san, are you satisfied with the level of baker that you are?
K: Well... no.. not at all
----
I don't have any techniques or talents like Azuma has, or knowledge like Kanmuri.
----
When we entered Yakitate!! 25 as a group of three, I was hardly of any use.
P135
K: If you think someone like me could be an Ironman Baker, I'd like your special training.
M: Very well
---
M: From today, we are master and disciple. You will do everything I say without any conditions
K: Yes... of course!
---
It seems an interesting master and disciple pair has been born.
----
Doesn't look like I can let my guard down. // See ya.
----
Azuma
P136
I'm going to learn from Meister-san and become a baker who won't lose to you!
----
K: So you definitely have to make a bread that will be accepted by your grandpa.
A: Alright!
P137
Alright! I'll do it! // No matter what kind of training it is, I'll definitely go through with it.
---
Here we are.
----
K: Yamada Restaurant? What is this? It's just a regular restaurant right?
M: Yes.
---
M: You can't fight on an empty stomach, and it's already past noon. First we'll do some training while eating lunch.
K: Training while eating lunch?
---
M: Sir, two of today's specials please.
Old man: Coming up.
P139
Old dude: Here you are sir
K: Wow! This looks great!
----
K: Well then, let's dig in
M: Wait
----
Just eating it normally wouldn't count as training.
-----
Please hold your chopsticks like me.
P140
K: What is that!? You're holding your chopsticks with your middle, ring, and pinkie finger!?
M: Yes.
----
M: Please try it.
K: Alright...
P141
Oh, and by the way, you're not allowed to pick up your dish, or pick up many things at once with your chopsticks.// Please eat every piece of food with your chopsticks.
---
What the heck...
---
Well, I don't really get it, but it can't be that hard.
----
Aaaarg! Dammit!! What the hell is this!? I can't even hold the chopsticks, let alone pick up food!!
----
Hahaha, that's how it is at the beginning.
P142
M: From today I'll be having you eat all your food like that, so it'd be better if you get used to it now
K: What'd you say!?
----
Argh
P143
Is... is there any real meaning to any of this!?
----
M: Oh? You dont trust me?
K: No... it's not that I don't trust you... I just want to know why I'm doing it.
----
Heh... // I guess I can tell you
----
The reason is simple. Using this method, we are training your interosseous muscles.
----
k: interosseous muscles?
M: It means the muscles in between your bones, specifically your fingers.
P144
M: Kawachi-san, do you know why magicians are much more dexterous than average people?
K: Why?
----
Please look at these pictures.
---
On the right is a magicians hand. // On the left is a normal person's hand. // The blackened out part between the fingers is the interosseous muscle.
----
What is this!? // The magicians interosseous muscles are ridiculously more developed than the other ones! // Where did he get that board from anyway....
P145
The pinkie and ring fingers muscles are especially more developed than the normal persons hands!
----
Bakers also use their hands a lot, but most bakers rely too much on their thumbs, index, and middle fingers, and aren't giving the dough the full attention it deserves.
----
In order to make a splendid dough, one must develop muscles between the ring and pinkie fingers as well, and sharpen the senses of all 5 fingers.
----
P146
I see... so that's the reason for this training.
----
If one develops their interosseous muscles, they also train their nerves, and as a result sharpen the senses of their fingertips
----
This is just the beginning, but if you can do your best, you will probably be able to make a dough like I did in the last competition.
----
Ohhh, I'm looking forward to that.
----
Just watch Azuma...
P147
From here on I'll get stronger and stronger, and become an iron man baker!
---
You're must be having a hard time too, huh Azuma?
---
K: It's not just a normal match, you need to make a bread that will be accepted by Umajirou as well.
Manager: Yeah....
---
From the sound of things, this old man has an extreme prejudice against anything new.
P148
He probably won't approve of any of the Ja-pan's you've made up til now.
A: I know.
----
Even if I make an old fashioned bread that he's happy with, he still won't accept my Ja-pan.
---
This is really hard!
----
So you can't make anything that's new, or anything old.
----
Well, if you can't make anything new or old, you can't do anything can you?
---
That's not true.
P149
It's a little hard, but I just need to make a super old, super new Ja-pan!
T: Super new... and super old.. Ja-pan?
---
Bread has a very long history, I need to make one reminiscent of the very first breads, along with a flavor no ones ever made before.
----
Can you make something like that?
A: Probably
---
I'll call it Egypt Ja-pan! This Ja-pan is a bread I could make in Ancient Egypt, where bread originated!
