The ring of Uranus were discovered in 1977...
The names of those five rings are Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Epsilon*.
*Note: According to our current astronomical knowledges, Uranus has 11 elementary rings.
This discovery happened to be the most important of the following 50 years on Earth.
What are you reading, Tetsurou?
I borrowed an old newspaper from the library car.
Discoveries are made little by little. And in the universe, countless facts still exceed human knowledge...
The Song of El Alamein
I was so busy searching through the library I didn't notice the train was stopped.
We are at El Alamein for a stop of 10 minutes!
We ask you to not move away from the train.
In order not to get shot.
You mean by bullets or ammo? Those you fire with a rifle or a cannon?
That's right: nor laser, nor energy waves...
but frightful archaic weapons...
El Alamein... I'm pretty sure I've already heard that name somewhere.
That's also the name of an ancient battlefield on Earth...
... in North Africa where tanks fought...
map: El Alamein
map: North Africa
Because once, this place was also a battlefield...
You're right, there are bodies of tanks everywhere.
But what did the men who drove them look like?
I don't know.
When you look at those wrecks, you can tell which weapons were used...
... but you can't know what kind of life form was driving them.
There are only remains of weapons left.
Living beings had been burned down to ashes.
What is it, Tetsurou?
The turret of this tank over here...
I feel like it moved our way.
Those aren't just bodies...
The on-board computers of those machines still work.
It only needed one of them to notice our presence...
to warn the others, and now they're all setting off.
Please forgive me.
Where am I?
You're on board of the train, I've brought you back here.
I'm sorry, Tetsurou...
I had no choice but to make us pretend to be dead for a few moments...
When the machines didn't detect any sign of life, they have stopped by themselves...
Without men, their fight has ended... and they has plunged back into their sleep...
As long as there will be humans, the battle will never really end!!
They're becoming plain and silent bodies again...
When there won't be any man left...
The wind is blowing on El Alamein. They say that the breath of air blowing these wrecks is a requiem mourning the ones who died here. This song is resounding in the heart of those who hear it... And now, there are only wrecks left on this planet...
