Portopia Land was in fact a real amusement park in Kobe, for anyone who cares, that opened in 1981. Sadly, it closed in 2005 and the site is now, if Japanese Wikipedia is to be believed, an IKEA store. Not only that, but Bavarian Mountain Railroad (later BMR-X) was a real ride. It started operation in 1987 and was based off Disneyland's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Speaking of which, I just realized. Morita got to spend at least a day if not more inside an amusement park so he could draw it properly. Lucky bastard. I do way too much research for this manga. So now you have to suffer too!
