Chapter 21

01

Title: File 21 Disaster in 5 Minutes

Maya: Try and pull this off.
Maya: That's why...
Maya: I went out of my way to come back here.

Text: Swirling thoughts! A prideful fighting spirit!!

Fujimaru: For the sake of all the people who have died due to your actions...
Fujimaru: I will make sure...
Fujimaru: to capture you!!!!

Text at bottom: Volumes 1 and 2 are selling like crazy!!

02

Maya: Hurry up and transfer the hundred million dollars.
Maya: Once you do, I'll give you this.

Fujimaru: ...Are you really going to hand it over?
Fujimaru: Do you have any way to guarantee it?
Fujimaru: And I still have no guarantee it's real.
Fujimaru: I have to figure that out as well...

Maya: I thought my coming here was guarantee enough.
Maya: I could have refused to come and told you where the Key Tool was hidden once you transferred the money...
Maya: but I came here so you would trust me.

Fujimaru: Yeah, we wouldn't have trusted you if you had done it that way.
Fujimaru: The negotiation would have been a failure.
Fujimaru: But I'm sure you have some ulterior motive for showing up here so easily.

03

Fujimaru: Why did you accept our conditions without complaint and come here,
Maya: Wasn't that kind of me?
Maya: It would be your problem if the negotiations failed...
Maya: but I compromised!
Fujimaru: Orihara Maya!?

Maya: Get to it.
Maya: This deal will only last for 5 more minutes.

Maya: Even a helicopter needs half an hour to get out of range of the blast.

Box: 10/14 (Wed) 15:17:53 Time until the Detonation of the "Third Emperor"...34 Minutes 45 Seconds Time until the End of Maya's Deal...4 Minutes 45 Seconds

Fujimaru: I know that.
Fujimaru: Five more minutes...
Fujimaru: If she stays here for another five minutes...!!

04

Box: 14:49:46 (28 Minutes Previously) Time until the Detonation of the "Third Emperor"...1 Hour 2 Minutes 52 Seconds

Hagiwara: Is this Fujimaru-kun?
Hagiwara: The hacker "Falcon" and son of Takagi-kun?

Hagiwara: Hello.
Hagiwara: This is Hagiwara, the chief of "Third-i".
Fujimaru: Hello, hello!

Fujimaru: All that doesn't matter! If you have an idea, tell me what it is!
Hagiwara: You're not very polite, are you?

Hagiwara: Anyway, let's get to the topic at hand.
Hagiwara: You've been given the authority to transfer a hundred million dollars from the government's official private account.
Hagiwara: Okay?
Fujimaru: ...Roger that.

Fujimaru: But it's dangerous to believe what Orihara Maya tells us.
Fujimaru: The Key Tool itself could be a fake.

Hagiwara: We've prepared a plan for that case.
Hagiwara: But it's a difficult plan we'll only use in an emergency.
Hagiwara: In order to avoid having to use it, I want you to use the strategy I'm about to tell you.

Fujimaru: What is it!?
Fujimaru: Just tell me!!
Fujimaru: We only have an hour until the detonation!

05

Hagiwara: Keep Orihara Maya there...
Hagiwara: by prolonging the negotiations!

Fujimaru: Huh...!?
Fujimaru: What are you saying!? Do you know the situation here!? We only have an hour...
Hagiwara: That's precisely why you need to.

Kanou: So you want him to keep Orihara there until she doesn't have time to get away from the explosion!
Hagiwara: Exactly.

Hagiwara: A 100 megaton nuclear bomb underground will have enough force to cave in all of Tokyo.
Hagiwara: Even if she tried to escape via an above ground transportation facility now, she wouldn't make it in time and be caught in the blast.
Hagiwara: ...But she must have some method of escape.
Hagiwara: She said she could escape Tokyo in half an hour.

06

Minami: So she needs half an hour to get to safety.
Minami: If she lets you prolong the negotiations beyond that...
Minami: it's proof that she thinks we'll stop the explosion with the Key Tool she has!

Hagiwara: In other words...
Hagiwara: the Key Tool in this deal...
Hagiwara: is real!

Fujimaru: ...Understood.
Fujimaru: I'll bet on this too!
Fujimaru: I'll...
Fujimaru: bet on this plan...!!

07

Fujimaru: But...I'm still worried.
Fujimaru: If Orihara lets things prolong beyond the time she needs to get away, she has to hand over the Key Tool in order to save her own life.
Fujimaru: She isn't the kind of person who would put herself in such a disadvantageous position so easily!!

Maya: You've stopped working.
Maya: Are you not planning on going through with this?
Maya: If so, I need to go.

Fujimaru: ...I already told you that I know that!

Fujimaru: Here I go...
SFX: Type
SFX: Type

08

Fujimaru: Huh? Oh, shit!!
Fujimaru: This is an old browser...It says I have to update it!? Why now of all times...?
Maya: ...What are you doing? You're the genius hacker "Falcon".
Fujimaru: Damn it!!

Fujimaru: Well...I usually don't use the PC's GUI, so...

Maya: This is some shitty acting.
Maya: It's obvious you're trying to keep me here.

Maya: So?
Small text in Maya's bubble: Sigh...
Maya: You have 3 more minutes.

Fujimaru: W-wait a second! Just a little longer...
Maya: Deal's off.
Maya: I'm getting out of here.

Fujimaru: I said wait!! Look! I'm in.
SFX: Beep
Fujimaru: I'll transfer the money.
Fujimaru: What's your bank account?

09

Maya: Geneva Inter-Euro Bank 8, 7, 4, 7, 6...
Fujimaru: Let's see...
Fujimaru: 8...7...5...
Maya: 4.
SFX: Type
SFX: Type

Fujimaru: O-oh, my bad.
Fujimaru: Another 2 and half minutes! Then she'll be past the half hour mark!

SFX: Type
SFX: Type
Fujimaru: And then...
SFX: Type

Maya: I've had enough of your stalling.
Maya: Hurry up and finish this.
Maya: I really will end the deal.

10

Maya: I don't mind.
Maya: I'll just kill you...
Maya: and then flee in the helicopter.

Fujimaru: ...Ha.
Fujimaru: You won't get anything from doing that.

Maya: Oh.
Maya: But it would really help my mood.
Maya: I'd be shooting down the "Falcon" that has done so much to me.
Maya: Right?

Fujimaru: ...Done so much to you?
Fujimaru: You're the one...
Fujimaru: that's done a hell of a lot to me!!

11

Maya: That...
Maya: was a really hateful look in your eyes there.

Maya: How about...
Maya: I get rid of one of them for you?

Fujimaru: ...Gh.

12

Maya: 2 more minutes!

Maya: Get on with it!

Fujimaru: O...
Fujimaru: Okay.
Fujimaru: Okay...

Text on computer: Dollars

Fujimaru: Ten, a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand...
Fujimaru: One hundred thousand, a million, ten million, one hundred million...dollars.
Fujimaru: You can check for yourself.
SFX: Press

13

Fujimaru: ...Done.
Fujimaru: It's been deposited.

Maya: Odd. He gave up on stalling so readily...

Maya: You have a plan.
Maya: Don't you, "Falcon"...!?

14

Maya: It looks like it really was deposited.
Fujimaru: The Key Tool!

Fujimaru: Hand it over.
Text left of Fujimaru: C'mon, c'mon!
Fujimaru: Hurry!

Maya: Did he...really give in?

Maya: ...Here.
Maya: What a disappointment, "Falcon".

Maya: ...I'm done here.
Maya: Goodbye, Takagi-kun.

Fujimaru: ...Wait.

15

Fujimaru: If you leave, I won't know if the Key Tool is real or not.
Fujimaru: So...
Fujimaru: could you stay here a bit longer?

Maya: Are you an idiot?
Maya: Our business is over.
Maya: I have no reason to stay here.

Fujimaru: Oh...
Fujimaru: don't you?

Fujimaru: Take a good look at your cell phone.
Fujimaru: You have the data, but the amount of money hasn't been displayed yet.

Maya: "Falcon"...
Maya: You...!!

16-17

Fujimaru: I predicted you would have me use a standard browser.
Fujimaru: So I set up it up to do what I wanted ahead of time.
Fujimaru: I had it transfer the money via multiple proxy servers.

Fujimaru: Simply put, the information for the amount of money I sent is moving around various open servers in research institutions, ISPs, and universities throughout the world.
Fujimaru: It's split up into encrypted packets and will finally end up...
Fujimaru: on the server in Switzerland your bank account is on.
Fujimaru: Sent directly there, it would be instantaneous, but, when it has to go all over the world, it can take a while.
Fujimaru: As you can see, the data is getting there bit by bit, but you don't know how much it is.

18

Fujimaru: Did I transfer the money you wanted?
Fujimaru: Or is the hundred million dollars a trap I laid that will turn into a single dollar at some point?

19

Fujimaru: If you don't wait another 5 minutes...
Fujimaru: you won't know which it is.

Fujimaru: Will you trust me and leave?

Fujimaru: Or stick around to make sure?
SFX: Tick
SFX: Tick

20

Fujimaru: What will you do,
Fujimaru: Orihara-sensei!?

Maya: "Falcon"...!!
Text: This is the critical moment!!
